The Breakfast Club Film Review

There are so few movies that are still as culturally relevant today as they were back when they first released as the film that i'm about to review for you all today. As this is a film that not only still being referenced today but is a film that is still being talked about today with there being news articles about this film every few years or so and well it was only about time that I finally see this film just to see what all of the fuss was well and truly about and so then join me as I review the film might possibly be the earliest point in the John Hughes Cinematic Universe with the film in question being called simply just "The Breakfast Club" enjoy.

The plot of this film is five strangers go to detention on a Saturday where they are tasked with writing a paper about who they think that they are. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty so much better then what it had right to be as on paper this films plot shouldn't be that good and yet it somehow works with the films plot being heavily based in realism just enough to make you buy into the plot but not so much that the more fantastic and out there elements of the plot don't work with this films plot also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well as in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Emilio Estevez as Andrew Clark , Paul Gleason as Richard Vernon and Anthony Michael Hall as Brian Johnson. Also starring in this film is John Kapelos as Carl Reed , Judd Nelson as John Bender , Molly Ringwald as Claire Standish , Ally Sheedy as Allison Reynolds , Ron Dean as Mr. Clark , Mercedes Hall as Mrs. Johnson , Mary Christian as Brian's Sister , Tim Gamble as Mr. Standish , Perry Crawford as Mr. Reynolds , Fran Gargano as Mrs. Reynolds and this films writer , producer and director John Hughes as Mr. Johnson.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film as in all honesty really good. With all of this films cast turning in some truly fantastic performances which was really shocking as this films cast aren't really know for good or even great performances and yet that's exactly what we get given to us in this very film with all of the films young cast really nailing all of there characters performances so much so that it's hard to imagine anybody else playing these characters as that's just how good this films cast really is with the acting in this film really being helped by the fact that the script for this film is just so good that all the films cast have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally.

Unlike alot of Hollywood coming of age film the teenager in this film look and feel like there real people. With the teenagers in this film being written like there actual people which is something that makes them alot more relatable as people can relate to the problems that these teens are going through whereas no one can relate to the teens in more modern movies as there not being written like there people with the teen in this film being treated like there actual people who actually do exist and that goes along way to making this films cast feel all the more real and to make things better this films teens act like actual teenagers with them acting out to the Vice Principle character and they frequently break the rules not because they have to but because they want to among many other things all of which make this films teens both look and feel all the more real that the teenager character that we get in more modern films.

This movie has been showing up in quite alot of other movies and TV shows however what some people might not even know is the fact that the film also plays apart in the film Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins. As the key plot of that film of four strangers all getting detention together is the exact same plot of this film and while yes the Scooby-Doo film does go it's own way after that initial set up it's hard to argue the effect that this film has had an still continues to have on alot of films as we still see this film being referenced across various different movies and TV shows all throughout the years as this film is just that good that it should be talked about still as alot of the people that are now referencing this film were the exact same people that grew up watching the film and were effected by the film when they were young.

While there are plenty of good things to be found in this film there are also plenty of negative things to be found in this film as well. Like the fact that the character of Richard Vernon just straight up disappears from the movie at several points with him pretty meant to be the films quote un-quote main villain and yet he only appears a very handful of times and even then he only acts as a villain once and that's really it the other major issue that this film has is that it doesn't really take the time to make alot of the kids character likable which you could argue is the point as we're not really spending a whole lot of time with them in the grand scheme but you still need to make them likable or give them some redeeming qualities and yet this film doesn't really do that as the teen characters aren't really made out to be all that likable which could be the point as the film is feeling a very realistic story and as we don't get to spend a whole lot of time with the characters in the grand scheme of things then we're not going to get the chance to find anything likable about any of these characters.

It really is great who the film not only lives up to all of the characters one dimensional stereotypes of all of the teen characters but then flip them all on there heads by the end of the film. By saying that every single one of us is "The Brain" , The Jock" , The Princess" , The Basket Case" and yes even "The Rebel" we all have those tendencies to be any or perhaps even all of those things at the exact same time and the way that this film handles that idea is so good as it's done in a subtle way as the more the find out about the characters about not only there homes lives but there school lives as well the more it then becomes crystal clear to us the audience that we could all be any one of those things or that we all are any of those things and that's great and it's a great thing for teenagers to learn as well as that's when your trying to work out who you are and to now have the option of "you don't have to be any one thing in particular" is such a fresh and new idea that it might just change how some teenager might just see themselves from here on out.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and thirty seven minuets and five seconds. Which is such a short running time for this film to have and yet at the exact same time it's also the absolutely perfect running time for this film to have as well as the film really doesn't have a whole lot there interms of it's plot to cover anything longer then that but at the same time the film very easily could have stretched out this films running time just by going deeper into it's main characters lives by showing us what there lives are like at both home and at school as well and while yes that might mean that the film would repeating some stuff when they talk about alot of there problems it would also be a great way to give us a reason to actually like these characters as well and I will admit that this film really does gave some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty person ally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this film at times being painfully funny with there being alot of really funny moments in this film and it's those moments that go along way into making this film a really good film with this really being helped by the fact that all of this films funniest jokes felt really character driven and as such that means that they felt like the kind of jokes that these characters would indeed make with those jokes also being really funny as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film is so much more better then Weird Science as it's not afraid to go to those funny places and yet at the same time still tell a really good and compelling story in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 9 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being Google Images this is because all of the images that I got for this review and that are still of course currently up and really are on the really great Google Images with them all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
