Madame Web Film SPOILER FILLED Film Review
While the character of Spider-Man still has his comic book rights at Marvel his film rights are split between Disney and Sony. With Marvel Studios mainly making films that feature Spider-Man with Sony now going all in on films that are based of off his side characters with the latest film to be based of off a Spider-Man side character having just been released and well you all just knew that I had to check this film out the very first chance that I got and to then join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED film review of the film that might be as bad as Morbius with the film in question being called simply just "Madame Web" enjoy.
The plot of this film is when young paramedic Cassandra "Cassie" Webb finds herself with powers to see into the future after an accident on a bridge she has to save three girls from a ruthless businessman who wants them all dead. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad bit that's also the issue as this films plot wasn't all that good either with the plot of the film being the kind of plot that would worked best in a mid to possibly late 2000's Marvel film as it's the kind of plot that you'd expect to see in one of those movies but the films plot is really rather entertaining but it's not also really rather engaging either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Starring in this film is Dakota Johnson as Cassandra "Cassie" Webb / Madame Web and Sydney Sweeney as Julia Cornwall / Spider-Woman. Also starring in this film is Celeste O'Connor as Mattie Franklin / Spider-Woman , Isabela Merced as Anya Corazon / Araña , Tahar Rahim as Ezekiel Sims , Mike Epps as O'Neil , Zosia Mamet as Amaria , Kerry Bishé as Constance and José María Yazpik as Santiago.
Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With the acting in this film being alot better then what it really had right to be but that's also the problem as we know for a fact from other films that this films cast really can indeed turn in better performances that the kind that they really turn in in this film and yet for some strange reason in this film it just feels like alot of them are really just phoning in there performances with this not really being helped by the fact that the films script really is just so bad that it gives none of the films cast really nothing to work with interms of what it is that there respective characters personalities are really even meant to be.
Doing the CGI for this film is Day For Nite , Digital Domain , One Of Us , Outpost VFX , Territory Studio and The Third Floor. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as there is a clear amount of love having gone into this films CGI but at the same time tho this films CGI really isn't really as good as it really should have been given the effects companies that are involved with the making of this film as this film does have quite alot of really bad looking CGI effects in it which has the knock of effect of making alot of this films CGI look either really bad or just really incredibly cheap looking both at the exact same time.
SPOILERS START HERE!!!!!!!!!!
One of the many things that this film gets wrong is with Madame Web herself as instead of getting the bada*s wise character that we got in not only the comics but also in the nineties Spider-Man: The Animated Series. We are instead given a character that just has to be perfect at everything and has no flaws which doesn't make her that interesting of a character when in reality the comic book version or the animated series version of the character would have made a more interesting take on the character as both of those versions of the character were given flaws that she has to overcome be it her own arrogance or the fact that she finds it hard to trust people both of which would have been things that would have helped to make this version of the character seem alot more interesting as it would have given her something to overcome and yet by making her a flawless character who has to be perfect at everything she does it means that she only has one way to go and that's down and she goes down hill fast.
While this film is just as bad as Morbius was in some respects in other respects it's worse that what Morbius was. As this film isn't a film that's so bad that it's good where as with Morbius while it was a bad film it was also a film that knew that it was a bad film and thus was able to become a film that's so bad that it's good here the only thing that this film had going for it going into the film was that awful line of dialog that was in the trailer yet it's been cut out of the film for no reason with this being made worse by the fact that the people who wrote Morbius wrote this movie which just goes to show that these jokers really don't know how to write a good Marvel movie and given that they also wrote the god awful Gods Of Egypt movie that just further hits that point home as this movie feels like it would be a better Marvel movie if it came it in the early to mid 2000's when we the audience didn't really know just how good a Marvel movie could be and yet now that we know that Marvel can indeed make good movies it now makes this film all the more worse then what it would have been if it was released in the early to mid 2000's.
Just like a lot of bad Marvel movies this films villain is just bland , boring and really forgettable with this films villain just doing nothing to standout against all of the other comic book movie villains out there. With the only unique thing that this films villains has going for him is the fact that he can somehow see into the future which they never explain the film spends quite alot of time telling us that Cassie can now see into the future and yet the film doesn't even spend a couple of minuets telling us how the main villain of the film can see into the future with this not really being helped by the fact that the film gives us no reason as to why he's evil out side of the fact that he wants to kill our main heroes and that's really it and that's not enough to make him an interesting and as a result of this is the fact that Cassie herself comes across as being a really rather weak hero as if you make the villain a strong and memorable villain it will have the knock on effect of making the hero look like a more stronger hero in the process.
Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and forty eight minuets and thirteen seconds. Which is such a short running time for this film to have as the film has several main characters to set up including both Adam Scott as Ben Parker and Emma Roberts as Mary Parker and still tell a good story in a new world where the rules of that world havn't been fully established yet and the film just can't do that and as a result of this is the fact that either the film should have had a much more longer running time or have a lot less main characters and yet because it doesn't have either of those the film comes across as being a complete and total mess of a film as none of the films main characters are given the chance that they need to shine and become fully developed characters as the film has this short running time with all of the characters basically fighting each other just for screen time but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.
So now then as this is an action film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With this films action being the best f the film as this films action is where the film is somewhat entertaining to see as we get to see alot of really creative looking action scenes all of which do make what could have been seen as really dull looking action scenes seem to be really fun and creative however what let's the films action down tho is the fact that we the audience just aren't given a reason to care about the films characters as thanks to the films use of time travel we already know who will make it out of the film alive something which the film shows us very early on in the film and sticks to it so much that it makes it hard to fully care about this films characters when they get into an action scene in this film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
SPOILERS END HERE!!!!!!!!!!
Overall while Morbius is still the better film as that film is at the very least a film that's really so bad that it's good this film is really just straight up bad and at times it can be really pretty dull to watch as a result of that as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 3 out of 10 from me.
Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Sony's Spider-Man Universe fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being the official Sony's Spider-Man Universe fandom wiki page this is because all of the images that I got for this review and that are still of course currently up and really are on the really great the official Sony's Spider-Man Universe fandom wiki page with them all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
