Wallace & Gromit: The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit Film Review

There are so few British icons out their however one them is undoubtedly Aardman Animations with the studio releasing alot of great material. With alot of the stuff that they've released having made stars out of it's characters none of which however can even come close to holding a candle when to Wallace & Gromit as the duo have starred in four TV specials , two feature films , spawned a spin off series which in of it self spawned to feature films and it's own spin-off series and several video games and so then join me as I review the film that saw Wallace & Gromit make the leap from the small screen to the big screen with the film in question being called simply just "Wallace & Gromit: The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when there town local vegetable competition is threatened by giant rabbit it's up to Wallace & Gromit to find the rabbit and capture it before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about thew actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with the films plot being just as bonkers and just as insane as you'd want it to be from anything regarding Wallace & Gromit with the films plot also being suitably epic enough to be on the big screen with the plot of the film also being really entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Peter Sallis as Wallace and Hutch and Ralph Fiennes as Lord Victor Quartermaine. Also starring in this film is Helena Bonham Carter as Lady Campanula "Totty" Tottington , Peter Kay as Police Constable Albert Mackintosh , Nicholas Smith as Reverend Clement Hedges , Dicken Ashworth as Mr. Mulch , Liz Smith as Mrs. Mulch , Edward Kelsey as Mr. Growbag , Mark Gatiss as Miss Blight , Geraldine McEwan as Miss Thripp , John Thomson as Mr. Windfall , Vincent Ebrahim as Mr. Caliche , Robert Horvath as Mr. Dibber , Pete Atkin as Mr. Crock , Noni Lewis as Mrs. Gridling and Ben Whitehead as Mr. Leaching.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With all of this films cast turning in some really good performances which really shouldn't come as that much of a surprise as this films cast are all a bunch of really good actors which means that they would of course turn in some really good performances in this film with all of the performances in this film really being helped b y the fact that this films script is just so good that all this films cast have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them really alot more naturally.

Doing the animation for this film is of course the legends and the greats that are currently over at Aardman Animations. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good which is really nothing really new for Aardman Animations as everything that they've done has always had some really good animation in it with this film not only being a very good example of that but also being a very good example of just what t is that Aardman Animations can do when they have a big budget behind them as the bigger budget allows for the animation to look better then it does in any of the Wallace & Gromit shorts in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

What came as a pleasant surprise was the fact at the heart of this film is the friendship that Wallace & Gromit have for each other. With that friendship being the films emotional core which was a surprise as the previous short films have never touched on there friendship and yet this film does it and because of that we get alot of really good scenes with just the two of them together with the best of these scenes oddly enough being the one were Gromit thinks that Wallace has died and he just breaks down crying because he's not just loosing an owner but he's also his best friend someone who he has spent his entire live with and yet when Wallace does come back to life they both just hug each other that right there should tell you that these two are truly best friends and when you add in the fact that at several points during the film we see them each do things to look out for the other it makes there friendship feel all the more real.

This film does make some really good use of all of the inventions that we get to see all through out the film. With pretty much all of them playing a part in the films plot even tho it might not seem like it at the time with even the way that Wallace & Gromit get into there pest control gear at the start of the film playing a part in the end of the film as well which is a good use of subtle storytelling as it's letting us the audience know that those inventions do infact exist and seeing them work there way into the plot in a way that feels natural and organic goes to show that the makers of this film really do treat there audience as if there smart people as alot of other animation studios would have had these inventions appear once as a one off gag and that would be it as the film would act as if they are not there in the film anymore and yet because of how the film makers are treating there audience the film brings them all back into play in a way that feels very organic and really rather natural as well.

Where this film falls flat is with it's villain as while Lord Victor Quartermaine is wonderfully acted and is also quite entertaining at parts. He's not really that threatening of a villain with the only thing that makes him evil being the fact that he wants to kill a rabbit and that's really it which isn't enough and while yes we do get to find out what he's end goals ultimately are near the end of the film but by then it's to little to late as he goes the vast majority of the film just doing things evil just for the sake of being them and not because it serves hos end goal but on the flip side of that is when Victor does find out that Wallace and the Were-Rabbit are the exact same person Victor does become a more frightening villain but first impressions are everything and when you start a villain of on rocky ground it doesn't matter how good of a character that they end up as there foundations really will always be on really rocky ground.

Now then while I cannot for the absolutely life of me remember whatever this films grand total running time even was I do know for a fact that this film has / had an exact grand total running time of roughly one hour and twenty one minuets. Which is pretty much the perfect running time for this film to have as the film really doesn't have alot there interms of plot to really cover anything longer then that and while having a much more longer running time as that would allow for some of the films newer characters to become more fully fleshed out it would mean that the films plot would be getting stretched thin as the film would need to have pointless filler scenes just to fully flesh out it's newer characters and that would ultimately end up causing the film more harm then it would do the film any good but I will admit that this film really does have some really trutherly wonderfully good pacing to it.

So now then as this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this film having alot of painfully moments in it and while only British people will find this films jokes funny as they rather rightfully relay so much on what we see every day over here in Britain the Americans will also find this film to be funny as well as the contrast between Britain and American made films are all right there from the moment that this film starts to the seconds that it ends and that would be more enough to make alot of American laugh and laugh really hard in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this was a really good feature film debut for the world's most famous man and his dog with the film more then holding up all of these later and is easily better then Chicken Run: Dawn Of The Nugget in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that means that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly an 8 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Wallace & Gromit fandom wiki page , Wikipedia and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being the official Wallace & Gromit fandom wiki page this is because really all of the images that I really got and that are all really currently up and of course are on the really great the official Wallace & Gromit fandom wiki page are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
