Chicken Run: Dawn Of The Nugget Film Review

Aardman Animations have made a ton of films over the years and have become a titan in the world of animation. With alot of people eagerly awaiting there next release well now the wait is over as the studio have just released there next feature length film with this film being the first sequel feature length film that the studio have released and so then join me as I review the film is a sequel to a beloved Aardman Animations classic film with the film in question being called simply just "Chicken Run: Dawn Of The Nugget" enjoy.

The plot of the film is when there daughter escapes there island paradise and is captured and taken to a chicken farm it's up to Ginger and Rocky to find her and bring her home before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad granted it's not as good as the plot of the first film was but that was always going to be the case as the first film really didn't leave itself open for a sequel with the same thing also being true for the very idea behind the franchise as a whole but I will admit that this films plot was rather entertaining as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Thandiwe Newton as Ginger , Zachary Levi as Rocky and Bella Ramsey as Molly. Also starring in this film is Imelda Staunton as Bunty , Lynn Ferguson as Mac , David Bradley as Fowler , Jane Horrocks as Babs , Romesh Ranganathan as Nick , Daniel Mays as Fetcher , Josie Sedgwick-Davies as Frizzle , Peter Serafinowicz as Reginald Smith , Nick Mohammed as Dr. Fry and Miranda Richardson as Mrs. Tweedy.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With the actors that you expect a good performance really delivering but it's with the the films newer characters where the acting does somewhat falter with alot of the films kid actors not really turning that good of a performance which really shouldn't be the case as we know for a fact that actor Bella Ramsey can turn in a good performance as we've seen her do just that in shows like Game Of Thrones and The Last Of Us for example and yet here she just can't do it thanks to the films script which is at best just OK and nothing more then that.

Doing the animation for this film is of course the legends and the greats that are currently over at Aardman Animations. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good which is really nothing new for anything from Aardman Animations as all of there media have really good animation in it with this films animation being on par with that of the first film which was already really top notch and heck there's nothing really wrong with this films animation as animation wise this film is damn near close to be being a perfect stop motion animated film.

For various reasons this film did recast several of the original films actors with the most notable reason being that of the original voice of Ginger Julia Sawalha. With Julia Sawalha being recast because the producers of the film thought that her voice sounded to old this is something that doesn't make sense interms of the context of the film as this film doesn't take place the very next day or a year after the events of the first film it instead takes place over a decade later and as such casting Julia Sawalha again as Ginger would have made more sense as the characters voice would naturally sound more old if anything this sounds like something that Netflix demanded rather then something that the makers of the film wanted to do as Aardman aren't really known for recasting characters unless they absolutely have to do which in the case of the film and in the case of Ginger they really didn't have to recast the role at all.

What made the first film work so well is the fact that it really doesn't feel dated at all in the slightest but with this film it's the opposite that's true. As this film is filled to the brim with alot of cliches that you expect to see in a modern kids animated film with there even being a generic pop song that opens the movie with this film also not really trying to make the main character of the film really all that likable with both of those being things that are typically found within a bad kids animated films and both of which are things that sadly do date the film quite badly where as you could show a kid the first film and ask them when they thought that it was made and chances are that they were say that it was made this year as it's a film that still holds up really well where as this film will be dated even more by the summer of next year.

Speaking of the new characters for the most part they do feel like fun characters even if they are somewhat undercooked. With Molly taking on alot of aspects that made her mother all the enduring to us the audience but she takes on nothing from her father and so she has none of the charm that her father had in the first film and still does somewhat have in this film which just makes her seem unlikable as even Ginger in the first film did have moments that made her likable but here because of the fact that Molly hasn't had to deal with Mrs. Tweedy (who for some reason is still alive in this film) she just spends alot of her early screen time talking down and talking back to her mother which while that is meant to apart of her character arc it's not really something that works when the film makes Ginger out to be the bad guy of the two.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and forty one minuets and thirty nine seconds. Which is pretty much the exact same running time that a film like this one should have as this film really doesn't have alot there interms of plot and as such it really doesn't demand a longer running but at the same time it would have been great if this films spent some of it's running time in fully fleshing out some more of it's plot and it's main characters with Mrs. Tweedy coming of as one of the worst ones in that respect as they don't explain how she survived the first film nor do they explain why she's now making chicken nuggets either she does show up and is meant to be this big reveal even tho the trailer just straight up spoiled that she was going to be in the movie but I will admit that this film really does have some rather solid pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a comedy that means that I have to actual about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. As as per-usual for an Aardman film the film does have some rather solid jokes in it but at the same time this film does feature alot more rather unfunny jokes in it which is rather odd as usually alot of the jokes in any Aardman production lands really and as such it was shocking to see an Aardman production that has jokes that not only dont land but just straight up aren't that funny in the first place and while this film does feature some really good jokes in it those are in the minority and don't represent the overall majority of the jokes that in this very film i my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film is a huge step down in quality when to comes to the first film and while it is still a really solid Aardman Productions film it's a film that really didn't need to be made in the slightest in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as we as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Aardman fandom wiki page , the official Chicken Run fandom wiki page , IMP Awards . Com ad Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being Google Images this is because really all of the images that I really got and that are all really currently up and on the great Google Images are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
