Wish Film SPOILER FILLED Film Review

 

To say that Disney has had a rough year this year would really be a huge understatement as alot of their films have flopped at the box office. Well really their last chance to have a box office hit this year has just been released and this was a film that alot of people myself included have really been looking forward and well you all just know that I had to check out this film the very first chance that I got and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED review of the film that reveals where the wish granting star from Disney lore comes from with the film in question being called simply just "Wish" enjoy.

The plot of this film is a young girl accidentally wishes on a star and has to deal with an evil king that wants to stop from making wishes. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to  us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad but that's also the issue as this films plot isn't tat good either as it's just an OK plot that really lacks none of the Disney magic that's made dozens of their films in the past work and because of that the films plot really does suffer because of it in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Ariana DeBose as Asha , Chris Pine as King Magnifico and Alan Tudyk as Valentino. Also starring in this film is Angelique Cabral as Queen Amaya , Victor Garber as Sabino , Natasha Rothwell as Sakina , Jennifer Kumiyama as Dahlia , Harvey Guillén as Gabo , Niko Vargas as Hal , Evan Peters as Simon , Ramy Youssef as Safi , Jon Rudnitsky as Dario and Della Saba as Bazeema.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured /presented to us in this  very film was in all honesty not that bad. As the actors in this film really do indeed try to turn in some really good performances in this film however but what lets this film down really is the fact that the films script really is just so bad that as it gives none of the films cast members absolutely nothing to work with interms of what their respective characters even are as such the cast can't turn in a good performance as this films script just won't allow for it.

Doing the animation for this film is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Walt Disney Animation Studios. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as this film does use cell shaded 3D animation alot of the time the issue is tho is that the story book look of the film looks ugly and it makes the film look unfinished with the actual 3D animation looking really good and while I do give Disney credit for attempting to blend to styles of animation it's not something that really works well for this film.

If you hated the clock scene in the live action remake of Pinocchio then your going to really hate alot of this film. As they make alot of Disney references all throughout the film and it gets to the point where it stops being cute and funny and starts to be annoying and heck even seven of this films characters are based on the dwarfs from Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs not only down to their personality but also down to how there dressed and while included one or two references to over Disney films has always been a thing in those film they never called attention to it with them being more easter eggs for the fans to go back and try and find where as here they call attention of alot of the references in this film.

As a character Asha isn't to bad as she does come across ans being a really fun and likable character however the issue is tho. Is that she's not really given much in the terms of personality with her being a blanks slate so that the audiences can imagine them selfs as her and that doesn't really make her an interesting character all it does is make her a forgettable character which is a shame as this character had all the potential to be the next great Disney Princess and yet for some reason Disney fumbled at something that they've been able to do in their sleep for decades now with this not really helped by the fact that the films villain King Magnifico isn't that interesting of a villain which means that all we have is two rather really uninteresting characters as the lead characters.

This film is of course a musical that features songs written by Julia Michaels , Benjamin Rice and JP Saxe. Alot of this films songs have a huge problem and that's the fact that alot of them are to short as alot of them end just when they should be getting going and that makes it hard to fully get into the songs which is a shame as this film really is filled to the brim with some good songs with both "Welcome To Rosas" and "This Wish" being the true standout songs of the film with "This Wish" also being the traditional Disney "I Want" song and while Disney used to have a knack for creating cool villain songs here they just don't with "This Is The Thanks I Get?!" being one of the worst songs in the whole entire film.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and twenty seven minuets and nine seconds. Which is such a short amount of running time for this film to have as this film has so much to set up and it can't set them all up and still tell a good story with one the films plot suffering because of the fact that this film has such amount of running time as the film doesn't give alot of it's scenes time to breathe as they have to rush along to the next plot point which also means that character character development can't happen which is something that really should happen and cold happen if the film had a slightly longer running time with this not really helped by the fact that the film has some really fast pacing to it as well.

So now then as this is comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. Which really shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone as Alan Tudyk is just so funny in anything that he's in and rather rightfully so he gets all of the films best jokes and while Ariana DeBose also gets alot of times to show us just how funny she can be with her alot of her more funny moments are helped by the animation where as Alan Tudyk just is funny but with that said we do get alot of really unfunny jokes in this film as well but those jokes are very few and far between with the film containing more good jokes then it does actually bad jokes in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall for a film that was made to celebrate Disney's one hundredth year it's not really that good of a film and is just another bad film in a year that was filled to the brim with bad films for Disney which is a shame as this film really should have bee a home run for the company in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this film in this very review and as such that means that this very film earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 6.5 out of 10 from me.
