Richie Rich Film Review

In a world that's getting more filled to the brim with comic book movies then ever before it's understandable that people would either not forget or just straight up not know about some comic book movies. As is the case with the movie that i'm about to review for you all today as this movie was made and released at a time when comic book movies weren't even a thing and good comic book movies were a very rare thing to find indeed and so then join me as I review the film that lets be honest here not alot of people knew was a comic book movie with the film in question being called simply just "Richie Rich" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when Richie's parents are presumed dead he must take an evil employee who wants to rob his parents of all of their money. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual pot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with this films plot being dumb but enjoyably dumb but with that being said this films plot is about as generic as it gets for a nineties kid's family movie with there being nothing really all that new added to the formular in this film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Macaulay Culkin as Richie Rich , John Larroquette as Laurence Van Dough and Edward Herrmann as Richard Rich Sr. Also starring in this film is Christine Ebersole as Regina Rich , Jonathan Hyde as Herbert Arthur Runcible Cadbury , Mike McShane as Professor Keenbean , Chelcie Ross as Ferguson , Mariangela Pino as Diane Koscinski , Stephi Lineburg as Gloria Koscinski , Michael Maccarone as Tony , Joel Robinson as Omar , Jonathan Hilario as Pee Wee , Reggie Jackson as Himself , Ben Stein as The Economics Teacher , Sean A. Tate as Reynolds , Joel Ellegant as Ellsworth , Justin Zaremby as Reginald and Claudia Schiffer as Herself.

Now the  interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented o us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. Which was truly shocking as when this film came out alot of it's main kid cast were mostly unknown actors and so to expect a good performance wouldn't have been the smartest of moves and while the adults actors do turn in a bunch of fine performances it's the kid actors that actually put in alot of effort as they make up a bunch of the main characters in this movie and they really do deliver performance wise.

This film makes it known that it's a nineties film as not only are alot of the characters very badly written but there's also a female that is just as badly written. Sadly this is something that is still true to this very day and while the writing for the female kid character isn't that bad or it's not as bad as say the writing in Captain Marvel is for example she's not really given much of a personality even the male kid side characters are at the very least given a very bare bones character like the fat one or the dumb one for example where the girl in his film is just given the personality of girl and that's really it and this is sadly a problem with all of the films writings were it felt like the writers just did the bare minimum amount of work in order to cash in a paycheck.

For those of tho that don't know this is film us actually a comic book as the Richie Rich first appeared in Harvey Comics Little Dot issue one which was released in September 1953. With the character not really appearing on a regular basis since 1984 as that's when Harvey Comics ceased publication but the character would make somewhat of a return in 2011 under Ape Entertainment from what I can tell this film doesn't really bare much of a resemblance to the books with the film only using a few of the books characters and that's really it heck even the films villain despite baring the last name of a villain type family from the books is a wholly new creation which to me just seems pointless as there are most likely characters un the comic books that could have been used or if you wanted to to use characters from the franchises other media there was an animated series in the eighties where they could have used characters from that show as the villain for this film.

Speaking of the films villain I really didn't like him at all as they really just didn't make that interesting of a villain. Yes this is a kids movie based of a comic book that was made with kids in mind but with all of that being said you still need to give your hero an interesting villain as that then makes your hero look better when they defeat them in the end here Laurence Van Dough just isn't that interesting of a villain as while they do give him a clear goal in mind they don't really give him much in the way of a personality which means that just like alot of this films characters he just comes across as being rather bland and really boring which is something that a villain should really never be as they should always be interesting and entertaining and most certainly not dull and boring.

Just to give you an idea of just how nineties this movie gets for no apparent reason Richie now has the ability to hack into computers. Which to me just goes to show that the makers of this film have no clue about this character as this is a character that would have no clue how to hack in to a computer as he wouldn't have any need to know as for his whole entire life he's had everything that he's ever wanted and so he'd have no reason to learn how to hack into anything which means that giving him the knowledge of how to hack into computer just screams of this film being a nineties film and it just says that the makers of this film have no idea how to hack into anything and while giving him this skill does make sense interms of the story it's also something that really didn't need to be in the film as once again this character really wouldn't know ho to hack into anything as he wouldn't have any need for such a skill.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and thirty four minuets and twenty eight seconds. To this films credit this film really does have more then enough there interms of plot to cover that large amount of running time with alot of this films really feeling needed in order to to tell it's story properly and while there are a few scenes early on in the film really didn't need to be in the film if you cut those scenes out it would mess with the films pacing and while making this film longer would give the filmmakers the chance to fully develop all of it's characters it would be stretching a thin story even thinner but I will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it.

So now then as this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty pretty bad. As there are alot of painfully unfunny jokes in this film with alot of this film jokes just being jokes that would only be funny if you were a kid in the nineties and that's really it with all of those jokes really dating the film quite badly and while the film does indeed try to tell some rather funny jokes those jokes are really few and really far between with this film having alot more bad jokes then it does actually really good jokes init in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film is a good example of way comic book movies were very hardly made in the nineties as it really just that bad of a film with it also being film that is really dated as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 3.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got ll of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being Google Images this is because really all of the images that I really got and that currently up / featured and on the great Google Images are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
