Recess: School's Out Film Review

 

Disney as a company has so many films under it's belt that it's understandable that one or two would fall through the cracks. With the film that i'm going to be talking about today being one such film as I don;t really see anybody anywhere online talking about this movie nor the show that it's based of off for that matter and so the  join me as I review the film that is just pure fun to see with the film in question being called simply just "Recess: School's Out" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when some secret agents take base at his school T.J. Detweiler and his friends hatch a plan to stop them from achieving their goal of getting ride of summer vacation forever before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film being not that bad with it being a plot that is certainly worthy of being in a movie and was also very entertaining and was also very engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Andrew Lawrence as Theodore Jasper "T.J." Detweiler and Rickey D'Shon Collins as Vince LaSalle. Also starring in this film is Jason Davis as Mikey Blumberg , Ashley Johnson as Gretchen Grundler and Ashley Tomassian , Courtland Mead as Gus Griswald , Pamela Adlon as Ashley Spinelli , Dabney Coleman as Principal Peter Prickly , Melissa Joan Hart as Becky Detweiler , April Winchell as Ms. Muriel Finster and Mrs. Detweiler , James Woods as Dr. Phillium Benedict , Peter MacNicol as Professor Fenwick , Allyce Beasley as Ms. Alordayne Grotke , Klee Bragger as Digger Sam , Clancy Brown as Bald Guy , Lane Toran as King Bob , Rachel Crane as Ashley Quinlan , Elizabeth Daily as Captain Sticky , Anndi McAfee as Ashley Armbruster , Ryan O'Donohue as Digger Dave and Randall Weems , Tress MacNeille as Lunchlady Irma , Opera Director and Dr. Steinheimer and R. Lee Ermey as Col. O'Malley.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With all of this films cast doing a good job which for the returning cast is understandable as they've been playing their respective characters for a good few years at this point in time and so it only makes sense that they would turn in some really good performances in this film.

Doing the animation for this film is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Sunwoo Digital International and Sunwoo Entertainment. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good altho at the same time I did notice some animation errors which really does bring down the overall quality of the animation.

This film is of course based of off the Disney animated TV series Recess which aired from September 13th 1997 and lasted all the way until November 5th 2001. I will admit that I don't recall much about this show despite having grown up watching it but from little that I remember about this show this movie is a really good representation of what the show was about all the while advancing the characters and the overall story of the show in a way that feels natural and organic which was something that I really did like about this film.

There are some things that I didn't like about this movie like the fact that they introduce characters who were never mentioned or seen in the show before. Which is a huge pet peeve of mine especially when the show already had a huge cast of characters that could have been used in this movie and all without harming the overall plot of the film but instead the makers of this film chose to not only introduce new characters in this film but also give those new characters next to no personality which just makes those characters forgettable. 

This film does give us some backstory for the Principal Peter Prickly and Ms. Muriel Finster characters both of which add nothing to the plot of the film. Granted Prickly's backstory does somewhat play into the film's plot but it felt like the stereotypical backstory that would be given to make he villain seem all the more threatening but here it doesn't work because it adds nothing new to the Prickly character which is a shame because on paper his backstory could have worked if it actually played more of a role in the films plot.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and twenty three minuets and nineteen seconds. Which is the perfect running time for this film to have but at the same time tho this film really would have benefited from being five or even ten minuets longer just so more of the films cast of characters could be a bit more fleshed out and developed which is very sadly an issue when it comes to this films main villain but I will admit tho that this would also effect the films good pacing tho.

So now then since this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this film being alot more funnier then what I remember it being which was something that really did catch me of guard and heck I don't think that there was one bad joke told in this movie as this movie just has alot of really good jokes in it in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this was a really good movie and if they hadn't had made three more direct to DVD compilation films then this would have been the absolutely perfect way to end this hugely successful franchise in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6 out of 10 from me.
