The Super Mario Bros. Movie Film SPOILER FREE Film Review

 

Video game movies gave very slowly been getting better and better so much so that we now at the point where people get excited whenever one is announced. Heck a key example of just how excited people can get for a video game movie nowadays is the very film tat i'm about to review for you all today as people got excited over a fake advert that was appearing in the movie and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FREE review of the movie that really does promise to right the wrongs done in 1993 with the movie in question being called simply just "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" enjoy.

The plot of this movie is when he and his brother find themselves transported to a magical land and are separated Mario has to rescue his brother and stop the reign of an evil ruler. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty rather thin at best but then again so was the plot the original Mario game and so it also makes sense that that's also the case for this film as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Chris Pratt as Mario , Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach , Charlie Day as Luigi and Jack Black as Bowser. Also starring in this film is Keegan-Michael Key as Toad , Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong , Fred Armisen as King Cranky Kong , Sebastian Maniscalco as Foreman Spike , Charles Martinet as Mario And Luigi's Father and Giuseppe , Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek , Khary Payton as The Penguin King and Juliet Jelenic as Lumalee.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With Chris Pratt's voice being very distracting at the start of the film but by the end of the film it's something that you barely even notice and the true standout performer in this film is quite easily Jack Black who is so unrecognizable in this film.

Doing the animation for this film is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Illumination Studios Paris. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with this films animation being the best animation that Illumination has ever produced.

This film wasn't of the first time that Hollywood has tried to make a Super Mario Bros movie since we did of course have that 1993 live action film adaptation. However unlike that film this film isn't afraid to be a Mario Bros movie as it actually looks like what you'd think a Mario Bros movie would actually look like and not like something that somebody who hasn't played Mario game thinks that a Mario Bros movie looks like and that's beaus of the fact that the people making this movie are actually fans of the Super Mario Bros. franchise.

This film was quite clearly made by fans and I know this because of one song that appeared in the advert that everybody loved. As only a die hard fan would include this song in there as it's a pretty deep cut reference to include and it's one that proves to me that the people who made this movie re die hard fans that and the fact that all of the characters not only actually look like their video game counterparts but also act like their video game counterparts as well which is something that once again wasn't the case with the 1993 movie.

Very sadly tho it's not all good as there are some things in this film that I just straight up didn't like like for example the fact that Luigi feels more like side character in this film despite him being one half of the title Mario Bros. This wouldn't be an issue if they gave him some meaningful scenes or scenes that added to the plot of the movie but when he's on his own he really isn't given anything meaningful to say or do with alot of scenes just being stuff that you could cut out of the final film a they add nothing to the plot of the film.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and twenty four minuets and forty four seconds.With this films running time being another thing that I really didn't like about this film as this film was far to short and as a result the plot of the film also really underdeveloped and rushed with plot points just coming out of nowhere which is a shame because this films pacing was really good but if this film had a much more longer running time all of the issues that I just mentioned would be fixed.

So now then since this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. Ad their were some jokes in this film that did get a laugh out of me but at the same time this films does also have alot of really unfunny jokes as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film is just as good as alot of people are saying it is don't listen to the critics and just go and see this movie because it is that good of a movie that's not afraid to be a fun video game movie in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film earns it self a grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10 from me.
