Pocahontas 1995 Film Review

Disney has made so many animated films over there many decades of being a company and so it would be impossible for anyone for anyone to say that they've seen every single one of  their animated feature length film. Heck i've not even seen the film that i'm reviewing today despite being aware of it's existence and so then join me as I review the film that was made by Disney's so called A team with the film in question being called simply just "Pocahontas" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when a group of invaders come to invade her land the chief's daughter Pocahontas falls in love with one of the invaders has to find away to stop the invasion. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad but that's also the issue because this films plot isn't all that good either with it's plot being very weak at best which for a character that's based on a person who had this very interesting life just isn't good enough at all in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Irene Bedard as Pocahontas , Mel Gibson as John Smith and David Ogden Stiers as Governor Ratcliffe and Wiggins. Also starring in this film is John Kassir as Meeko , Russell Means as Chief Powhatan , Christian Bale as Thomas , Billy Connolly as Ben , Joe Baker as Lon , Linda Hunt as Grandmother Willow , Danny Mann as Percy , Frank Welker as Flit , Michelle St. John as Nakoma , James Apaumut Fall as Kocoum and Gordon Tootoosis as Kekata.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with the cast doing the best that can do to make this films script work for them. The issue is tho that this films script gives the cast nothing to work with in terms of what their respective characters personalities are and so the cast can't do that good of a job performance because of the fact that this films script just won;t allow for it.

Doing the animation for this film is of curse the legends and the greats that are currently over at Walt Disney Animation Studios. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good which given who is doing the animation for this film isn't that much of a surprise with this film animation holding up really well all these years later which only adds to the films rather timeless nature.

This film is of course based of off the true story of Pocahontas which makes this film all the more worse as the real life Pocahontas led such an interesting life. With her actual name being Matoaka and Pocahontas being nothing more then a nickname who was actually captured by the British when they invaded her homeland and when she was seventeen or eighteen she married John Rolfe and a year later she had his son and moved to England and when the British did invade her homeland she was only eleven or twelve years old sadly tho she was pass away at the age of either twenty or twenty one years old of course it's hard to say if she ever saw her father or homeland again but given the time period I wouldn't hold up any hope for that happening.

It really is a wonder that Disney chose to change so much about this film since about the film as they still could have had their happy ending. Yet at the same time I understand why they chose to change much of her story as lot of it would have been very hard to little kids to swallow however on the flip side of that tho other Disney films have had a tone of dark scenes in them and so having this film show Pocahontas being captured wouldn't be out of place in the Disney library however given that the real life Pocahontas was reportedly shall we say assaulted perhaps it is or the best that some of these things where changed for this film.

I really didn't like that much of the songs for this film which were written by Stephen Schwartz and I have to admit that very few of this films songs are actually good with perhaps the best one being "Colors In The Wind" but even then that's just by comparing that song to the rest of the films songs. Heck even this films romance which is the only reason why they aged up Pocahontas in the first place isn't that good with the romance coming of more as forced rather then something that felt natural which is a shame because this films romance could have been good if alot more time was devoted to fully developing the characters of John Smith and Pocahontas as well as fully developing their romance which would help to make their romance really feel alot more believable.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour ad twenty one minuets and eight seconds. With this films running time being a huge major issue for me personally simply because of the fact that you could have very easily have gotten this film up to one hour and forty minuets which would have gone a long way into fixing alot of this films issues but since this film has a shorter running time it now has to rush it's storyline which makes this films plot points feel rather unearned.

So now then since this film is also meant to be a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. Granted this film doesn't tell that many good jokes but when something that's genuinely funny happens you really do notice it in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while i'm glad that i've finally seen this movie this is a movie that I can't see myself coming back to all that often since everything about this film barring the animation is just bland and nothing more then that in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film really does earn itself a really grand old score of exactly a 6 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Disney fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my preferred website to use to get images from this film being the official Disney fandom wiki page just simply due to the fact that alot of the images that are on the official Disney fandom wiki page are all really fairly high quality and as well as being fairly high definition.
