The Producers 2005 Film Review
Film fans it's not uncommon for film companies to want to do a remake of a classic film however what it is every so slightly uncommon is for Hollywood to produce a remake using the exact same writer of the original film. This is the case with this film which also has the honor of being one of the few remakes to have been an adaptation of a previous film and so then join me as I review the film that proved that Matthew Broderick is really just an OK actor at best with the film in question being called simply just "The Producers" enjoy.
The plot of this film is a down on his luck broadway producer and his accountant hit upon the idea of making a flop stage play in order to make more money. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot thats actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / resented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad but at the exact same time it wasn't a good plot either and while it might have been told in the original film here it's just unengaging and rather unentertaining as all heck.
Starring in this film is Nathan Lane as Max Bialystock and Matthew Broderick as Leopold "Leo" Bloom. Also starring in this film is Uma Thurman as Ulla Inga Hansen Benson Yansen Tallen Hallen Svaden Swanson , Will Ferrell as Franz Liebkind , Gary Beach as Roger De Bris , Roger Bart as Carmen Ghia , Jon Lovitz as Mr. Marks , Michael McKean as A Prison Trustee , David Huddleston as The Judge , Richard Kind as A Jury Foreman , Eileen Essell as Hold Me-Touch Me , Debra Monk as Lick Me-Bite Me , Andrea Martin as Kiss Me-Feel Me , John Barrowman as The Lead Tenor Stormtrooper , Brent Barrett as Brian and Peter Bartlett as Kevin.
Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty pretty bad. With actors like Nathan Lane and Uma Thurman just not turning in good performances and Matthew Broderick turning turning the kind of performance that you expect from him in that it's an OK performance but nothing more then that.
This film is a film that was co-written by comedy legend and comedy treat Mel Brooks and as such you'd expect it to be silly. Well very sadly this film isn't silly enough since the whole film is parodying broadway producers and yet it doesn't go far enough with that one simple joke and when you don't take that joke as far as you can go with it then your not being silly enough with the idea since the idea itself is a very silly idea.
This film is technically a remake of the 1967 film of the exact same name but it's also an adaptation of the 2001 broadway musical show of the exact same name. With this film even retaining some of the same cast members from the show who are also reprising their roles for the show however this film just lacks any charm that were most likely present in both the original film and broadway show but here all of that is stripped way for cheap and ugly looking dance numbers and some rather really none existent jokes.
Not helping things is the fact that none of the main characters are likable at all even both Max and Leo who are designed to be really unlikable just don't work. Since we're not really given a reason to care for these characters which makes there big third act fight rather meaningless and not emotional since we are the audience have just seen these two rather unlikable characters get what's coming to them and if your going to have the two main characters have a big third act falling out then you have to make them likable just so that we the audience can actually feel something for them in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
This film is a musical with songs all being written by this films co-writer and producer Mel Brooks with this films songs being in a word forgettable. Since all of this films songs whilst they are indeed some really good songs they all just start to blend into one another since they all sound the exact same with all of this films songs sounding the exact same and that does mean that all of this films lose any real identity but with that being said "Springtime For H*tler" is the best of this films songs since it's as ridiculous as you'd want and expect it to be and it's a song that is also sung rather well by all of this films cast tho so there's that at the very least.
Now then while I cannot for the absolutely life of me remember whatever this films grant total exact running time even was I do know that for a fact that this film had a rough running time of two hours and nine minuets. Which is about forty minuets far to long since this film has just as much endings then The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King and as such this film really does feel bloated and you really could have cut out everything from after the opening of the play onwards and nothing of importance would have been lost heck at a stretch this films should have been one hour and forty minuets but not over two hours long.
So now then since this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With this film having some genuinely funny jokes in it but at the exact same time tho this film does have alot more bad jokes within it then does actually good and funny jokes which for a comedy while expected since comedy is subjective after all is still not a good thing at all.
Overall while I cannot say if this film is better then either the original or the broadway stage show or not I can say that this film is just average at best and it does more then ern it's 50% on Rotten Tomatoes in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film erns itself a grand old score of exactly a 5 out of 10 from me.
Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this very / particular / exact film being Google Images since alot of the images that are from this film and that are currently still indeed up on Google Images are all really fairly freaking high in quality and as well as being fairly freaking high in definition.
