Avatar 2009 Film Review

 

Film fans we are but a few short days from the release of a new James Cameron movie and well then I thought that it was only fitting to produce this tie in review. With this review being fitting because of the fact that both movies were the films that James Cameron has last directed and so then join me as I review the film that single handedly brought back 3D with the film in question being called simply just "Avatar" enjoy.

The plot of this film is a paraplegic Marine dispatched to the moon has a special mission that becomes complicated when he falls in love with one of the natives. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with this films plot being really entertaining and yet at the same time this films plot was also very well written and was for the time at least rather refreshing in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Sam Worthington as Jake Sully , Stephen Lang as Colonel Miles Quaritch and Sigourney Weaver as Dr. Grace Augustine. Also starring in this film is Michelle Rodriguez as Trudy Chacón , Giovanni Ribisi as Parker Selfridge , Joel David Moore as Dr. Norm Spellman , Dileep Rao as Dr. Max Patel , Zoe Saldana as Neytiri , CCH Pounder as Mo'at , Wes Studi as Eytukan and Laz Alonso as Tsu'tey.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. Which given who directed , produced , edited and wrote this film isn't all that surprising since all of James Cameron's films have always had some really good acting within them.

Doing the CGI for this film is Weta Digital , Industrial Light & Magic , Framestore , Prime Focus World , Hybride Technologies , Hydraulx , BUF , Blur Studio and Pixel Liberation Front. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us  in this very film was in all honesty really good with this films CGI holding up really well all these years later and dare I say it this films CGI is even better then the CGI that we get to see in most modern Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

This film does have a romance angle and it's something that I actually liked since it plays a big part in not only the films story but in Jake's character arc as well. This is really helped by the fact that the romance was actually really well written with both characters having spent quite alot of time together and so then you can really buy the fact that both Jake and Neytiri would end up together and it really helps that both of these characters have alot of chemistry together which helps their romance feel all the more real.

Just a few short days ago James Cameron came out and said that this film didn't leave any kind of cultural impact. This is something that I disagree with since for the years after this film every major film studio was trying to recapture the mega success of this film and on top of all of that it was this film that brought back the 3D format and so then for better or for worse this film did leave some form of cultural impact regardless of if James Cameron wants to admit to it or not that doesn't mean that it didn't happen.  

This films human villains are were this film falls flat for me personally since all of this films villains just seem very one note. Even Colonel Miles Quaritch while he is a decently written character just seems like a very note character with the film not really explaining why he's evil and so he just comes across as being evil for the sake of being evil which doesn't make him that interesting of a character it just makes him a rather dull and boring character.

Now then I cannot remember for the absolutely life of me remember whatever this films running time even was but I do know that for a fact that this film has / had an exact grand total running time of roughly two hours and thirty five minuets. Which really was a great running time for this film have but at the same time I do prefer the extended cut of this film since that cut of this film fully developed it's characters alot more then this cut of the film did and that for me is big issue in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

So now then since this is an action film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this films action being the best part of this film with the action being really entertaining and also genuinely cool and rather exciting as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film still holds up really well all of these years later and after doing some research i'm not shocked that it's taken almost twenty years to make the sequel which I can see being just as good as this film is in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and that means that this very film erns itself a grand old score of exactly a 9 out of 10 from me.
