Downton Abbey: A New Era SPOILER FREE Film Review

Downton Abbey fans the Downton Abbey franchise has seen a bit a of a comeback as of late with the American version The Gilded Age airing on both American and British TV screens across the globe and of course the very first Downton Abbey film being a box office hit. As such it was only time before the franchise got a second film and well then that film has finally been released and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FREE review of the film that is perhaps the most British British film ever made with the film in question being called simply just "Downton Abbey: A New Era" enjoy.

The plot of this film is some of the staff and family behind Downton Abbey travel to the south of France to help unravel the mystery of Violet Crawley's mysterious past meanwhile a film crew has taken over Downton Abbey. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that' actually featured / presented to us in this very film and well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty pretty bad since it feels just like the plot that you'd see in an episode of the TV show in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Hugh Bonneville as Robert Crawley and Samantha Bond as Lady Rosamund Painswick. Also starring in this film is Laura Carmichael as Edith Pelham , Jim Carter as Charles Carson , Raquel Cassidy as Phyllis Baxter , Paul Copley as Albert Mason , Jonathan Coy as George Murray , Brendan Coyle as John Bates , Hugh Dancy as Jack Barber , Michelle Dockery as Lady Mary Talbot , Kevin Doyle as Joseph Molesley , Michael Fox as Andy Parker , Joanne Froggatt as Anna Bates , Robert James-Collier as Thomas Barrow , Harry Hadden-Paton as Herbert "Bertie" Pelham , Laura Haddock as Myrna Dalgleish , Sue Johnston as Miss Denker , Allen Leech as Tom Branson , Phyllis Logan as Elsie Carson , Elizabeth McGovern as Cora Crawley , Sophie McShera as Daisy Parker , Tuppence Middleton as Lucy Branson , Lesley Nicol as Beryl Patmore , Douglas Reith as Richard "Dickie" Grey , Imelda Staunton as Maud , Dominic West as Guy Dexter , Penelope Wilton as Isobel Grey and Dame Maggie Smith as Violet Crawley.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film and well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. Which given who is involved with acting in this film isn't really surprise even less so when you take into account that alot of these actors and actresses have played these characters for years and so then of course the acting that's in this film was always going to be top notch in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then this film seems to do what an awful lot of film adaptations seem to do and that's take these established characters out of their already established location. Which this film didn't really need to do since that trope was played out and out of date ten years ago and so seeing it here only dates this film which really shouldn't be the case at all since you very easily could have had the overall plot of the film take place in England and not in the freaking south of France in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

This film covers a very important part of film history by showing how the talkie film would quite possibly put alot of actors with bad speaking voices out of a job. This is something that alot of actors of the period were quite afraid of happening since working in movies was there livelihood and so when sound was introduced into films alot of those actors and actresses rightfully got scared that they would be put out of a job and that's something that this film does touch upon really well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Without spoiling anything I will say that you will need tissues at the ready for a certain point that's near the very end of this film. I won't say why but let's just say that this one sequence almost had me close to tears because it was just such a perfectly done sequence and it's a great example of how good that I imagine this franchise can be since it's funny one moment and yet it has you in floods of tears the very next moment and that is a sign of some very good writing indeed in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

This movie is sure to please long time fans of Downton Abbey but at the exact same time tho I can't really see any non fans being pleased or even entertained by this film. Since this film relies so much on what was established in the TV show that it now runs the risk of alienating newer fans which will always be a bad thing since you always want your film to reach the largest audience possible and you can't do that if your freaking newer fans are feeling alienated in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly two hours and one minuet and fifteen seconds. Which is a tad bit on the long side for a film like this one since this film really doesn't have enough plot or even story to cover that running time but at the exact same time tho this films running time really did fly by which will always be a very good thing indeed in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

So now then since this film is meant to be a drama after all that means that I have to actually talk about the actual drama that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film and well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual drama that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film. Was very well done and unlike the first film this film wasn't as heavy handed with it's drama which only helped to make the film alot more entertaining to me personally in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film for me at least was alot more entertaining then the first film but the first film felt more like a true conclusion to the series as a whole with this film just being a pointless cash grab of a film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film erns itself a grand old score of exactly an 8 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this very / particular / exact film being obviously Google Images since alot of the images that are from this film and that are currently still indeed up on Google Images are all fairly freaking high in quality and as well as being fairly freaking high in definition.
