The Hateful Eight Film Review

Film fans there are alot of westerns out there some good and some not so good however for some strange reason westerns just aren't being made anymore. Well I thought that i'd take a look at the film that could possibly have bought / brought the western film genre back and well this film is a film that've not seen since this film was first released all the way back in 2015 and so join in as I review the film that is the eighth film from director Quentin Tarantino with the film in question being called simply just "The Hateful Eight" enjoy.

Now here is where I would normally tell you what the plot of this film and as well as give you my opinions on the plot of the actual film itself. However the makers of this film chose not to give this film any kind of plot and while that usually would be a huge red flag however in this case not having a plot actually works to this films advantage since the entire point of this film is to show us what would happen if you got eight of the most evil people possible and you stuck them in a room together and that idea couldn't e fully explored if this film had a plot.

Starring in this film is the great Samuel L. Jackson as Major Marquis Warren and Kurt Russell as John 'The Hangman' Ruth. Also starring in this film is Jennifer Jason Leigh as Daisy Domergue , Walton Goggins as Chris Mannix , Demián Bichir as Marco 'The Mexican' / Señor Bob , Tim Roth as 'English' Pete Hicox / Oswaldo Mobray , Michael Madsen as 'Grouch' Douglass / Joe Gage , Bruce Dern as General Sanford 'Sandy' Smithers , James Parks as O.B. , Dana Gourrier as Minnie Mink , Zoë Bell as 'Six-Horse' Judy , Lee Horsley as Ed , Gene Jones as Dave 'Sweet Dave' , Keith Jefferson as Charly , Craig Stark as Chester Charles Smithers , Belinda Owino as Gemma and Channing Tatum as Jody Domergue.

As for what I thought about the acting that's featured / presented to us in this film in all honesty the acting that's featured / presented to us in this film is so freaking good. Which really shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone since the acting in pretty much all of Quentin Tarantino's films and so it only makes sense that the acting in this film is also really freaking good and what helps the acting in this film in my opinion anyways / at least is the fact that the script is so good and so all the actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and boom a good performance will come out very naturally but that's just what I think anyways and that's just in my very humble and as well as being in my very honest opinion anyways.

I'm just going to come right out and say it but I honestly feel / think that the character of Daisy Domergue is the best character in this film. This is because not only is the character really well written but she is also really acted and she is just a fun character to watch in this film where as all of the characters just aren't as fun to watch and seeing a character like Daisy just be flat out insane makes her scenes really to watch and makes her character very unpredictable.

Now then believe it or not boys and girls but this started out life as as sequel to Django Unchained and it was going to be a novel however sometime into writing the novel Quentin Tarantino discovered that the character of Django didn't quite fit into the story and so he set out to make a stand alone film. That was until the script got leaked online and after much back and forth Tarantino decided to do a live recording of the script as it was back then and so he did and it was during that live recording that Tarantino announced that the script was being rewritten and so that's how we ended up with this love to westerns.

This film really is a love to the western film genre and you can tell that writer and director Quentin Tarantino is a fan of westerns. Since he made this film as close to the old school westerns as he possibly could and heck he even got legendary composter Ennio Morricone who composed the scores for many great westerns to come and score this film because that's how much of a westerns fan that Quentin Tarantino really is.

Now then i've been quite positive about this film so far but there are some things that I didn't really like about the film with the first of which being the lack of an actual plot which while understandable it still would have been nice if this film had a plot. The second thing that I personally didn't like about this film is the fact that none of the characters are given any kind of character development which I get might have been one of the many ideas behind the film but you still need to give your characters some form of character development this is screenwriting 101.

Now then boys and girls the version of the film that i'm watching is two hours and forty seven minuets and forty four seconds. Which I kind of feel was a bit on the long side for this film simply due to the fact that this film has no actual plot to speak of however there is an even longer cut of this film which I believe runs in at about roughly three hours and so I have to wonder why there are two different cuts of this film that were released at the exact same time and neither of which need to be as long as they are since you very easily could have told / done / have this film come in at well under two hours and best of all is you'd have to cut nothing that's actually important to the film.

Now then boys and girls since this film is a Quentin Tarantino film so you just know that this film is going to get super freaking violent and well this film gets super freaking violent near the end. In fact this film gets so violent that i'm actually not going to say what happens during this film very epic third act but all i'll say is that it's awesome and it's Tarantino at his best in my opinion anyways / at least and if you've seen either the 1968 or the 1990 version of Night Of The Living Dead then you'll know exactly what to expect from the ending of this particular / very film.

Overall this is a very freaking good film and in my opinion at least / anyways it's a film that is well worth checking out. Now then since i've talked about both of the good and as well as both of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review that there for means that I have to give this wonderful film a rating and as such this film gets a solid score of an 8.5 out of 10 from this film fan anyways.

As for where I got the images that I used in this very review well then boys and girls and ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Tarantino 'Verse fandom wiki page and from Google Images. With my personal preferred website to use to get images from this film being Google Images simply because there are alot of images from this film that are up on Google Images and that very sadly isn't the case with the official Tarantino 'Verse fandom wiki page altho I will very fully admit that the images from this film that are up on the official Tarantino 'Verse fandom wiki page are very high quality and as well being very high definition where the images from this film that are up on Google Images are at best fairly high quality and as well as being fairly high definition.
