Robocop 1987 Film Review

Film fans there are alot of films that i'm yet to watch and yet I somehow know pretty much everything about the films in question and well the film i'm about to review for you all today is one of those films. Since even tho i've never seen the first film or even the second I have seen both the third film and 2014 remake and i've seen clips of this film on various Youtube videos and so i thought that it was about time that I watch this and so join me as I review 1987 film that kick started an entire film and media franchise with the film in question being called simply just "Robocop" enjoy.

The plot of this film is after he is killed Detroit police officer Alex Murphy is resurrected as the nonstop half man half machine Robocop and as Robocop Alex Murphy has to come to terms with his own lingering fragments of his humanity and as well the fact Alex Murphey also has to bring the gang of thugs that killed him to justice. In terms of what I thought about the plot of this film in all honesty the plot of this film was a little bit on the weak side which I have a feeling might have been the actual point since in this film we are basically seeing life through the eyes of Alex Murphey and well to be blunt life doesn't have much of a plot at all.

Starring in this film is Peter Weller as Alex Murphy / Robocop ,  Carrie star Nancy Allen as Anne Lewis and Daniel O'Herlihy as The Old Man. Also starring in this film is Ronny Cox as Dick Jones , That 70's Show star Kurtwood Smith as Clarence Boddicker , Miguel Ferrer as Bob Morton , Paul McCrane as Emil Antonowsky , Ray Wise as Leon Nash , Jesse D. Goins as Joe Cox , Calvin Jung as Steve Min and this films producer Jon Davison as The Voice Of ED-209.

In terms of what I thought about the acting that's featured / presented to us in this film in  all honesty the acting that's featured / presented to us in this film is really freaking good. Which I was honestly surprised to be the case since I don't really have any memories of this film at all and so I thought that despite the amount of good actors and the fact that the director of this film is a really good director I honestly thought that the acting that's featured / presented to us in this film would be pretty bad nope I was honestly pleasantly surprised at how good the acting that's featured / presented to us in this film well and truly was.

Now then unlike the 2014 remake of this film very film this film earns the living heck out of it's rating simply because every single action scene that's in this movie is filled to the brim of over the top gore and over the top violence. Not to mention the fact that this film is also satires consumer culture by having adverts come up at random points in the film which is honestly that I thought was very interesting.

I have to admit I really loved the stop motion animation effects which were done by the great Phil Tippett. Even tho it's painfully obvious that they used stop motion animation for ED-209 the actual stop motion animation effects still hold up really well and they in a way give the character of ED-209 some form of personality but that could just be me simply just looking for something that simply just isn't there.

In terms of what I thought about the actual Robocop suit that they used in this film in all honesty I liked the actual Robocop suit that was featured / presented to us in this film not only because this was the look of the Robocop character that I grew up. I also liked this suit because it actually looks robotic which simply just isn't the case with the 2014 Robocop suit which just looks like something that someone bought from a clothes store and not something that a robot cop from the future would actually look like.

Now then boys and girls i've been very positive about this film but I do have a few / some negative things to say about this film. For starters the villains of this film Dick Jones (Ronny Cox) and Clarence Boddicker (Kurtwood Smith) barely appear in the actual film itself and so it was hard for me personally to hate these characters because of the fact that they barely show up in the film and other thing that I didn't like about this film is the fact that they made Anne Lewis (Nancy Allen) dumb because she thinks that Alex Murphy (Peter Weller) will remember who she is after he's only known her for one day and has spent the past god knows how many months first being dead and then being turned into Robocop and so of course he's not going to remember who this one person is heck he didn't even remember that he had a wife and a kid / son and so how does she expect him to remember her someone who is basically a complete stranger to him that just makes her (Anne Lewis) look really dumb.

Now then this film has a total running time of one hour and forty three minuets and eighteen seconds which I personally felt was a bit on the long side for this film. Simply because there really isn't that much there in terms of story and there really isn't much plot to cover this running time and as such as awesome as this film it can and this case does feel a tad bit boring at times which is a shame because the pacing of the film is in all honesty really freaking good and so the film really does just freaking fly by,

Now then boys and girls this film is an action film after all and so that means that I have to actually talk about the action that's featured / presented to us in the actual film itself and if i'm being really honest here the action that is / that's featured / presented in this film is really freaking good. This is because in my opinion at least the action is just so over the top and because of how over the top the action is in this film the action doesn't take itself far to seriously either which honestly makes the action more entertaining to watch.

Overall this is not only a really cool action film to watch but it's in my opinion anyways / at least also a really good movie to watch. Now then i've talked about all of the good things that are featured / presented to us to in this very film in this very review and i've also talked about all of the bad things that are featured / presented to us in this very in this film in this very review and as such this film gets an 8.5 out of 10 from me.

As for where I got all of the images that I used in this very review well then boys and girls and ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I used in this very review from the official Robocop fandom wiki page and from Google Images. With my personal preferred website to use to get images from this film being Google Images simply down / just due to the fact that nearly all of the images that I personally found on Google Images were all fairly high quality and as well as being fairly high definition which simply sadly wasn't always the case when it came down to the images that were featured / presented to us on the official Robocop fandom wiki page
