Carry On Camping Film Review
Film fans depending on where you are currently / presently reading this review you'll be shocked to learn that it's been over two whole years since I last reviewed a Carry On film and well as such I thought that it was about time that I took a look at another film from this classic / iconic British film franchise. As such join me as I review the film that made the late Dame Barbara Windsor a household name with the film in question being called simply just "Carry On Camping" enjoy.
Now then as with all of the other Carry On films this film has no plot line and where as for most other films that would be a major issues. It's not an issue here simply because the Carry On films aren't really known for having plots yes there are some Carry On films that do have plot lines but nine times out of ten the Carry On films don't have any kind of plot whatsoever and so it would be odd and rather out of place for this film to have a plot line plus with the lack of plot it means that the film can put the focus more on where it should be which is the comedy.
Starring in this film is Sid James as Sid Boggle , Kenneth Williams as Doctor Kenneth Soaper and Joan Sims as Joan Fussey. Also starring in this film is Charles Hawtrey as Charlie Muggins , Terry Scott as Peter Potter. The late and most certainly great Dame Barbara Windsor as Babs , Bernard Bresslaw as Bernie Lugg, Hattie Jacques as Miss Haggard , Peter Butterworth as Joshua Fiddler , Julian Holloway as Jim Tanner , Dilys Laye as Anthea Meeks , Betty Marsden as Harriet Potter , Sandra Caron as Fanny , Trisha Noble as Sally , Amelia Bayntun as Mrs Fussey and Brian Oulton as Mr Short.
Now then in terms of what I thought about the acting that's featured / presented to us in this film in all honesty I honestly thought that the acting that's featured / presented to us in this film was really freaking good. Which given who is starring in this film shouldn't come as a surprise to anybody whatsoever since all of these actors and actresses are really funny people and these actors and actresses really do know how to get a laugh out of people and they really do know how to make people laugh and in some cases laugh hard.
As I mentioned at the starts if this very review this is the film that made Dame Barbara Windsor a household name. Since this film gives Dame Barbara Windsor alot of screen time and so she gets alot of funny lines and even tho her character is the saucy type of character that Dame Barbara Windsor would become rather well known for playing in the Carry On films but she plays that type of character so well that you can see how and why she managed to become the household name that she is / was in the UK today / at this time.
The Carry On films that are set in modern day are great example of how Britain and how British culture was at the time that those modern day setting Carry On films were being made and released and the same thing id true for this film. Since nowadays people are less inclined to go camping and more likely to go abroad where as in this film people scoff at the very idea of going abroad and actually insist on going camping because it was the British thing to do at the time that this film was being made and released.
Now then boys and girls believe it or not there are some things that I don't like about this film like for example the fact that none of this films characters are given any kind of characteristics. Which given that this film is basically an ensemble all of this films many characters should have been given some form of personality and characteristic but this could also be due to the fact that for a long time the Carry On films were made and released yearly which means the time that was dedicated to writing each o the scripts for each of the Carry On films was small at best and so there would have been next to time to give any of these characters any kind of personality or / nor was there any/ enough time to give any of these characters any kind of characteristic.
Now then boys and girls this film makes the bold move of not having all of this films main cast of characters meet until the third act and while yes some of the main cast of characters do meet in the first and second act they don't all come together until the third act. Which I thought was a smart move because it allowed us to see more jokes and it allowed us to see these likeable and rather colourful bunch of characters just bounce of each other and that made the film all the more fun for me personally anyways.
Now then this film has a total running time of one hour and twenty four minuets and fifty four seconds and I honestly thought this film had the right amount of running time. Since this film has no plot to begin with and so all your left doing is watching these likeable characters just do things for little to no reason and so it would be very easy to get bored by all of these characters antics and so having this film come it at just under one hour and thirty minuets actually makes alot of sense in my opinion anyways / at least.
Now then boys and girls this film is a comedy film after all / at least and so that means that I have to actually talk about the comedy / jokes that are featured / presented to us in this very film and well to but it bluntly the comedy / jokes that are featured / presented to us in this film are very freaking funny. Yes there are going to be one or two jokes that don't quite land as well today as they perhaps did back in 1969 which was when this film was made and released but the jokes that do land are really funny and more importantly those jokes that do infact land and make you laugh are timeless jokes.
Overall this film is a really funny film and in my opinion anyways / at least it's a must watch for anyone who is a fan of British comedies be they old or new British comedies since / because this film is well and truly that good in my opinion anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good things and as well as all of the bad things that are in this film very film in this very review and as such this film gets a 6.5 out of 10 from me.
As for where I got all of the images that I used in this very review well then boys and girls I personally got all of the images that I used in this very review from Google Images and nowhere and since I only went to Google Images and nowhere else for all of the images that I used in this very review. I have no choice but to recommend that you guys use Google Images if you want to use images from this film or from anything for that matter and yes pretty much all of the images that I personally found up on Google Images were fairly high quality and as well as being in fairly high definition.
