Watchmen 2009 Film Review

Ladies and gentlemen right now Zack Snyder is the current flavour of the month with his army of Zack Snyder proclaiming that his version of the live action Justice League film to be the best thing since sliced bread ( clearly those people haven't seen Superman 1978 or Batman 1989 or are just die hard Zack Snyder fans that the refuse to admit that his cut of the live action Justice League has any flaws or faults) but thats just what I think anyways. Anyways getting back on track I thought that it would be a great time to take a look back at Zack Snyder's first DC Comics film that being the 2009 film with the film itself being called simply "Watchmen" and so enjoy the review everyone.

The plot of this film is after a formed masked hero called The Comedian is found dead his comrades try and solve the crime of who killed The Comedian nd more importantly why they chose to kill The Comedian. In terms of what I thought about the plot of this film in all honesty the plot of this film is so freaking complex which both for and against the film it works in the films favour because at it's heart this is a mystery and so we the auidence should be able to work out what's going at the same time that the characters are working out what's going on however the fact that the plot of this film is really freaking complex works against this film because you have no idea what's actually going on and so the plot and thus the film becomes confusing as a result of the plot of the film being confusing but that's juat what I think anyways and that's just in my humble and very honest opinions anyways.

Starring in this film is Jackie Earle Haley as Walter Kovacs / Rorschach and Billy Crudup as Jon Osterman / Doctor Manhattan. Also starring in this film is Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Eddie Blake / The Comedian , Patrick Wilson as Dan Dreiberg / Nite Owl , Malin Akerman as Laurie Juspeczyk / The Silk Spectre , Matthew Goode as Adrian Veidt  /  Ozymandias , Carla Gugino as Sally Jupiter / Silk Spectre , Stephen McHattie as Hollis Mason / Nite Owl , Matt Frewer as Edgar Jacobi / Moloch and Danny Woodburn as Big Figure.

As for / interms of what I thought about the acting that's presented to us in this film in all honesty the acting that's that's presented to us in honestly really freaking good and I say that the acting that's presented to us in this film is really freaking good simply because it's something that I really do believe to be the case in this film. Since every single actor in this film even those that only have either small roles or basically cameo appearences are all giving it there best shot and because all of the actors in this film are giving it there best shot the acting in this film and this film in general comes of looking better because of it in very humble and as well as my very honest opinions anyways.

Doing the CGI for this film is Sony Pictures Imageworks , Moving Picture Company and Intelligent Creatures. In terms of what I about the CGI that's presented to us in this film in all honesty the CGI that's presented to us in this film is really impressive by 2009 film standards but at the same time there are a few dodgy looking CGI effects in this film but the overall quality of the CGI that's presented to us in this film / featured in this film is really good in my humble and very honest opinion.

Now then boys and girls both this movie and the comic book that it's based on which is also called simply "Watchmen" left such an impact on people that a hit TV show which only used the Watchmen name (as far as i'm aware) none of the Watchmen characters were such a big hit that it would be foolish for anyone to say that the Watchmen franchise is dead. Since all f the evidence points to the Watchmen franchise being alive and well and heck i'd go as far to say that the Watchmen franchise is perhaps one of the strongest DC Comics franchises going right now but that's just what I think anyways and that's just in my very humble as well as my very honest opinions anyways.

Now then boys and girls legendary Monty Python member and legendary director Terry Gilliam once described the comic book / graphic novel that this film is based on as being unfilmable and I can see his point. Since like I said the plot line to this film is so complex that it would be hard to streamline the plot which is something that you would have to do for a movie since by streamlining the plot of this film it would make all of the characters plot lines alot more manageable in my opinion and as such I strongly feel that the plot of this film should have been the plot to a more faithful Watchmen TV series but that's just what I think anyways and that's just in my very humble as well as in my very honest opinions anyways.

Now then boys and girls this film is basically a mystery film wrapped in a superhero / comic book film and that means that I have to talk about the mystery element of this film and in my opinion the mystery element that's presented to us in this film isn't that good and I say that the mystery element that's presented to us in this film isn't that good simply because the film offers you no clues to who killed The Comedian. Which is something that the film should do sense the whole point of this film is for the characters to find out who killed The Comedian and yet when you give audience no kills it means that your audience is always going to be one step behind the characters when both your / the audience and your / the characters should be on equal footing in terms of who knows what but that's just in my very humble and very honest opinions anyways.

This film has a total running time of a whopping three hours and six minuets and twenty eight seconds and if i'm being honest the film didn't need to be that long and heck you could have told this exact story in about two and a half hours and you'd realistically have to loose nothing of importance and yes i'm aware that there cuts of this film which stretch on to least three hours and forty minuets. However just because a film is longer it doesn't mean that the added scenes to that film for that particular cut of the film are need to tell the films story sometimes having a shorter film actually helps the film and that could very well have been the case with this film but sadly since the only cuts of the film out there are the ones that are over three hours long we'll sadly never know if having a shorter running was what was best for this film but that's just what I think anyways and that's just in my very humble as well as in my very honest opinions anyways.

Now then boys and girls since this film is an action / superhero film that does mean that I have to talk about the actual action that's in the actual film itself and if i'm being honest the action that's resented to us in this film is honestly pretty good and i say that the action that's resented to us in this film is honestly pretty good simply because even tho there are alot of cool moments in the action sequences in this film. Alot of the action sequences that are in this film feature lots of slow motion which just isn't really used right in my humble and very honest opinion and it sucks any and all excitement that I have during one of this film many action sequences which s something that should never be the case since you always want your audience to be excited and to be entertained during your action sequences and that just doesn't happen when you use as much slow motion as is used in this very film in my very humble and as well as in my very honest opinions anyways.

Overall this film was an honestly good film in parts / in places but for me at least the negatives far outweigh the positives. Yes this film is rather good I will fully admit that but I cannot get past all of the things that this film pretty bad and yes i've talked about both of the good and both of the bad things that are presented to us in this film in this very review and as such and after much thinking about it this film gets a 7.5 out of 10 from me.

As for where I got all of the images that I used in this review well I got all of the images that I used in this review from the official Watchmen fandom wiki page and nowhere else and since I only went to the official Watchmen fandom wiki page for the images that I ended up using in this very review. I have no choice but to say that my preferred website is easily the official Watchmen fandom wiki page just due to how high quality and how definition the images that are presented to us on the official Watchmen fandom wiki page truly are in my very humble and as well as in my very honest opinions anyways but that's just what I think anyways.
