Guardians Of The Galaxy 2014 Film Review
Ladies and gentlemen since we are but a few short days away from the final episode of Wandavision I thought that i'd possibly spend the next few days reviewing some films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the films that I will be covering for the next few days (if all goes according to plan) might not feature either Wanda or Vision (or any surprise cameo appearences from other Avengers) the films that i've chosen are still really good films and so join me as I review the 2014 Marvel Cinematic Universe that is called simply "Guardians Of The Galaxy" enjoy.
The plot of the film is after stealing a mysterious orb human Peter Quill aka Star Lord finds himself wrapped up in an adventure where the entire fate of the galaxy is at stake. In terms of what I thought about the plot of this film in all honesty the plot of this film is in my opinion really good and in all honesty it's a rather refreshing plot as since the heroes of this story aren't straight up good guys there a group of people who will sometimes do good things and will sometimes do bad things and that makes the story more enjoyable in my opinion since you don't really know if the heroes of this story are going to let the villain of the story win or not and that makes the story alot more entertaining as well in it's own weird way suspenseful in my opinion.
Starring in this film is Chris Pratt as Peter Quill / Star Lord , Zoe Saldana as Gamora and Dave Bautista as Drax The Destroyer. Also starring in this film is Vin Diesel as The Voice Of Groot , Bradley Cooper as The Voice Of Rocket Raccoon , Lee Pace as Ronan The Accuser , Michael Rooker as Yondu Udonta , Former / Ex Doctor Who Star / Companion Karen Gillan as Nebula , Djimon Hounsou as Korath , Josh Brolin as Thanos , John C. Reilly as Rhomann Dey , Benicio del Toro as Taneleer Tivan / The Collector and Glenn Close as Irani Rael.
In terms of what I thought about the acting that's in this film in all honesty the acting in this film isn't that bad in my opinion. In all honesty the acting in this film is really a lot better then it had any right to be since on paper the idea for this film and for these characters is really silly and as such no one would have blamed the actors if they all chose to over act in this film but the fact that these actors chose to put in really good performances in my opinion shows how professional these actors are and it helps sell you the audience on the situations that these characters find themselves in and this is all due to how good the acting in this film is in my opinion.
Doing the CGI for this film are Framestore , Moving Picture Company , Luma Pictures , Method Studios , Lola Visual Effects , Cantina Creative , Sony Pictures Imageworks , CoSA VFX , Secret Lab , RISE Visual Effects Studios and Technicolor Creative Services VFX. In terms of what I thought about the CGI in this film in all honesty the CGI in this film was really good with all of the CGI effects in this film holding up really well and the same of course goes to the films fully CGI characters with Thanos , Groot and Rocket Raccoon all looking really good that being said however there are a few dodgy looking CGI effects but those dodgy looking CGI effects in the minority with the film instead having plenty of good CGI effects in my opinion.
Just like how Star Wars: A New Hope was a huge risk back in 1977 simply because unlike previous films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe which featured some fairly well known and in some cases iconic characters. The same thing cannot be said for this film since even alot of die hard comic book fans didn't even know who the Guardians Of The Galaxy even were and as such making a movie featuring a bunch of unknown characters is a huge risk and looking back on it now and knowing what things are introduced in this film (the Infinity Stones just to name but a few things that are introduced in this film and yes I do know what of the stones technically debuted very early into Phase One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but this was the first time that it was called an Infinity Stone) this film is really a key point in the Marvel Cinematic Universe due to the things that are introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in this film.
Now even tho there are alot of good things in this film there are also so pretty bad things in this film as well. Like the fact that there's a dance off which even tho the dance off is played of a joke it's still a really dumb idea and it kills any and all tension that was built up up until that point , I get that the point of the dance off was to distract Ronan but you could have done anything else to distract him and it would have worked as long as it didn't kill any tension and while the dance off idea is pretty funny and is in character for the character of Star Lord it still doesn't change the point that at that part of the film or in that situation doing a dance off even as a joke is pretty freaking dumb and it's an idea that should have been written out of the films script before shooting on the film or it should have been left on the cutting room floor after filming had finished for good in my humble opinion.
Now there seems to be a huge double standard going on because people will complain if a woman goes shirtless for a scene in a movie. However those same people will swoon over the fact that Christ Pratt or one of the many other Chris's in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is shirtless that right there creates a double standard and it's one that really shouldn't exist and i'm honestly shocked that it exist since in my eyes at least you either want to see people shirtless in films be they men or women or you don't want to see men or women shirtless there really is no middle ground in my opinion.
Now that that little rant of mine is out of the way let's get back to talkin about the film and I don't recall exactly how long this film is but I do know that this film is at least one hour and fifty five minuets. Which I feel is a bit on the short side for a film like this since this film has to introduce a ton of new characters as well as set up those characters and give us reasons as to why we should care about these characters but due to the possibly short running time the film can't really do that and as such the villain of the film Ronan The Accuser also suffers because we're not given that much time with him and so we don't get to find out that much about and as such he comes across as a weak villain which is a shame because he looks really cool but not enough of an effort is made by the makers of this film to make him a strong villain in my opinion.
Now then boys and girls since this is an action film that means that I have to talk about the action that's in the actual film itself and in my humble and honest opinion the action in this film is honestly really freaking good. Part of what makes the action in this film so good is the fact that the action in this film is so fun and creative and what helps sell you on the action that's in this film is that inbetween all the action we are given these nice quitter moments where we can start to care about the main characters and so when an action scenes does break out in this film (which happens in what feels like very five minuets lol) you care more for the characters and so you want to see them escape that action sequence in one piece or at least that's what I think anyways.
Overall this was a really fun movie and in my opinion is one of the best films that is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Yes this isn't a perfect film since i've talked about both of the bad things in this film and the good things in this in this very review but those bad things don't get that much in the way of the good things that are in this film which like i've just said i've discussed both the good and bad things about this film in this very review and as such this film gets an 8.5 out of 10 from me.
As for where I got the images that I used in this well I got the images that I used in this from the official Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom wiki page and from the official Star Wars fandom wiki page with the official Star Wars also being called Wookipedia. Since I got all but the Star Wars: A New Hope (which is other otherwise known as Star Wars or Star Wars Episode 4) from the official Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom wiki page I have no choice but to recommend that you guys use the official Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom wiki page if you want to use any images from any thing to do with the Marvel Cinematic Universe be the images from films , TV shows , comic books and I think video games the official Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom wiki page has a ton of very high definition and very high quality images which is enough to make even Thanos and Sith Lord Darth Vader happy and smile.
