The Single Girls Review
Ladies and gentlemen the film that i'm about to review is one that i've been thinking about reviewing for a few days now and well it's one that i've finally got the chance to review. I will have to admit doesn't represent the film at all if anything the poster for this film is a huge freaking lie since the poster makes this film look like it's an adult film shall we say and it honestly isn't and so here is my review of Bloody Friday or is it Private School nope its neither of those because the film i'm reviewing is called simply "The Single Girls" enjoy.
I honestly wish that I could tell you what the plot of this film however the plot synopsis given on both the film's Wikipedia page and the film's IMDB page is a complete lie since the film synopsis on both the films Wikipedia page and the film IMDB page reads "A group of men and women travel to a Caribbean resort to discover themselves s******ly but unfortunately one of them has also discovered that they like to murder people too. This synopsis is a complete lie because the film has no story whatsoever and that is the first of this films many problems in my opinion.
Starring in this film is the late Claudia Jennings as Allison , Jean Marie Ingels as Phyllis and Cheri Howell as Shannon. Also starring in this film is Joan Prather as Lola , Greg Mullavey as George , Edward Blessington as Bud , Victor Izay as Andrew , Wayne C. Dvorak as Dr. Phillip Stevens , Albert Popwell as Morris , Jason Ledger as Blue , Merci Montello as Cathy and Blazing Saddles star Robyn Hilton as Denise.
As for what I thought about the acting in this film if i'm being honest the acting in this film isn't that good at all. However given that this film was made on tiny as hell budget and the fact that the film's main the late Claudia Jennings wasn't a trained actress the acting in this film is about as bad as you think it is especially when you hear the words low budget film but to the actors credit they all do try and make the bad script work but sadly none of them can make this bad script work and because of this films bad script the acting suffers massively in my opinion.
Now just going back the poster of this film because the poster of this film made it look like that I was going to be getting something along the lines of Russ Meyer's Beneath The Valley Of The Ultra Vixens however what I instead got was something like if The CW made a film in the 70's which is somehow worse then alot of the shows that The CW made today which is not what the poster promised that I would be getting.
This just goes to show that if you advertise a film right then you can get people to watch your film no matter how bad the film is. However with that being said the poster has to also accurately represent what the film is as well as what the film is about which is something that the poster to this film simply doesn't do and as such the films marketing in opinion is lieing about what the film is about and this is because with out that poster no one would see this film because this film is honestly pretty freaking bad in my honest and humble opinion.
The worst crime that this film commits apart from lieing about what the film is about in the film's freaking poster is the fact that this film is so freaking boring. For large portions of the film nothing happens all we see is just the characters talking and not advancing anything not that there's anything to advance because like i said there's no plot to speak of and the characters are so badly written it's honestly freaking laughable at how badly written and how unlikeable these characters actually are in my opinion.
This film is for some reason listed as a mystery which while there is a mystery since one of the group is going around killing all the other members of the group. The film doesn't focus on that mystery element of the film and as such we the audience aren't given any clues as to who did it and as such when it is revealed who did it not only does it come out of nowhere it also leaves you scratching your head because the film didn't build up this reveal and nor did the film film give you a list of possible suspects it just did the bare minimum and in this case doing the bare minimum for a solving a mystery simply wasn't good enough.
One of the very , very , very , very , very few good things about this film is that it has a running time of one hour and seven teen minuets and twenty five seconds. Which means I didn't have to sit there bored out of my skull waiting for anything regarding a plot to happen for very long and I do feel that if this film had a plot then the one hour and seven teen minuets and twenty five second running time would have been a perfect running time but in this film I honestly wish that this film was under an hour because like I said earlier on in this review nothing happens and this film is so freaking boring and as such having a running time of at least forty five minuets to an hour would have worked in this film's favour in my opinion.
The other issue that I had with the film is the fact that the editing in this film is just so freaking bad it's honestly laughable at how bad the editing in this film truly is. Since scenes end mid sentence quite alot and this happens so much that every time it happend I said "oh my god the editing in this film is so bad" and that is something that I never say about a film or a TV show or a TV show episode or whatever i'm reviewing mostly because most of the time I have no idea what i'm talking about but here the editing sticks out like a sore thumb and the film cuts out the entire ending confrontation with the killer and out remaining heroes and just cuts straight to the end credits but hey at least we get to actually find out who the killer is so there's that at least.
Now then believe it or not boys and girls this film is listed as a comedy for some strange reason which means that I have to talk about the jokes that in this film or at least I would have to talk about the jokes in this film if this film bothered to actually include any jokes. Since there are no jokes in this film whatsoever and so this film fails as a comedy , it fails as a mystery and due to the bad editing it fails to be scary and so it fails to be a horror movie this film just fails at everything it tries to do in my humble opinion that is.
Overall incase I haven't made it clear enough at this point I really hated this freaking film it fails at everything that it tries to be and everything else in my humble opinion. Yes there are a few good things in this film but those good things which i've discussed in this review are far outweighed by the bad things that are in this film which like the good things that are in this film i've discussed the bad things that are in this film and as such this film gets a 1 out of 10 from me.
As for where I got the images that I used in this review well I got the images that I used in this review from Google Images and nowhere else. Since I only went to one website for the images that I used in this review I have no choice but to recommend that you guys use Google Images if you want to use images from this film but I don't see why you'd want to use images from this film since this film is so little known that there are actually very few images of this film on Google Images and hell one of the images that I used in this review I only found because I used this film's over title which is "Bloody Friday" and even then there's only a handful of images but I will admit the images that I could find were shockingly high definition which is something that I wasn't expecting to be the case at all.
