A Wrinkle In Time 2018 Disney Film Review

Disney a company that pretty much all of us have grown up with and yet there films seem to appeal to everyone. Well very recently the company have been releasing films that don't appeal to everyone with alot of their films splitting audiences and critics right down the middle with some loving the films and others hating them and well join me as I review perhaps there most divisive film in 2018's "A Wrinkle In Time" enjoy.

The plot of the film is is brother and sister Meg Murry and Charles Wallace Murry team up with a friend and classmate of Meg's called Calvin as they travel the universe to help find Meg's and Charles missing father. yeah the story is the first thing that's wrong with this film since even tho it's based on a book the film itself doesn't take the time that it needs to explain things about the plot as such alot of the story and what happens in the story is confusing as hell and that makes the story honestly pretty hard to follow if i'm being honest which is never a good thing since no story should ever confuse the audience at all.

Starring in the film is Storm Reid as Meg Murry , Levi Miller as Calvin O'Keefe and Deric McCabe as Charles Wallace Murry. Also starring in the film is Oprah Winfrey as Mrs. Which , Reese Witherspoon as Mrs. Whatsit , Mindy Kaling as Mrs. Who , Chris Pine as Dr. Alexander Murry , Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Dr. Kate Murry , Zach Galifianakis as Happy Medium , Michael Peña as Red , David Oyelowo as The IT and Rowan Blanchard as Veronica Kiley.

The acting in the film honestly isn't that bad since alot of the actors do I good job in this film which given who is involved with the film shouldn't come as a complete surprise to anyone. What should come as a surprise tho is the fact that the child actors in this film aren't annoying as all hell infact it's the child actors who turn in some of the best performances of the entire film in my honest opinion and given who they had to act against it's really impressive that the child actors turned in a much better performance then the adult actors in the film do.

Doing the CGI for the film are Moving Picture Company , Industrial Light & Magic and Lola Visual Effects. The CGI in the film for me at least was at best passable which given that this is not only an effects heavy movie and the companies that are involved with creating the CGI effects for this film shouldn't have been the case whatsoever but to me it seems like none of the effects companies that I listed had a passion for this story but that's just a theory tho and I could be very freaking wrong but that's how it comes across to me personally which is a shame because i've seen the other films that these companies have worked on and so i know that they can do better because they have done better in previous films.

One of the many , many , many things that this got criticised for was it's over use of CGI and while I can see where the people who said that are coming from at the same time this film involved people going to different planets as such there's going to e alot of CGI in use. Would I have liked it if the film used more practical effects yes because they always look better then CGI but at the same time the story demanded alot of CGI and so you have to give the film some slack there but that's just what I think anyways.

This is actually the second filmed adaptation of the story since the first filmed adaptation which also came from Disney was a made for TV movie that aired in 2003 on ABC. Well it was aired in 2003 if you live in Canada since American didn't get the film until 2004 I have no idea why there was such a delay between the American and Canadian showings of the film this makes even less sense when you take into account that the 2003 film is a Canadian and American co-production so they could have had the film air on the exact same day if they wanted but for some reason chose not to.

This film has a running time of one hour and forty nine minuets and thirty seven seconds which in my opinion is a little on the long side for this film. I say this because like I said when talking about the plot the story gets rather confusing which should never be the case for any film or TV show or TV show episode or whatever requires a story and so if the film makers wanted the film to be this long then they should have made sure that the story was easy to follow because as it is having a story that's hard to follow not only makes the story confusing as all hell but it also makes the film feel a lot longer then it actually is.

One of the things that this film got some praise for was the fact that's diverse which for some people makes the film automatically good. The fact that the film is diverse doesn't make it a good film at all what makes a film good is if the writing , acting , directing ad everything else that goes into making a film good is actually good just being diverse isn't enough because if your just diverse and everything else is bad then you still have a bad film.

This film also has a badly written main character in Meg Murry (Euphoria's Storm Reid) I say that she's badly written because because she's given no personality whatsoever. Like alot of fake empowered women she's written as a perfect character with no flaws and that makes her boring to watch and an inter3esting character if they wanted to make this character seem interesting then should have shown what her flaws were and have the journey of the film not only be about finding the father but also about Meg overcoming those flaws this would have made not only the character alot more interesting but it would have made the film alot better in my opinion but not by much tho.

Overall i'm one of those people that don't really like this film and while there are some good things to be found in this film all of which I have covered in this review. There are a lot more bad things about the film as well and what makes this worse is that alot of issues that I had with the film could have been fixed with a re-write of the script but as they chose not to re-write the script to address those issues this film gets a 4 out of 10 from me.

All of the images that I used in this review were gathered from the official Disney fandom wiki page and nowhere else. Since I only went to one website for the images that I ended up using in this review I have no choice but to recommend that you use the official Disney fandom wiki page. if you liked this film then that's great but do not insult those that don't like this film we are all entitled to our opinions and yes i'm recommending that you use the official Disney fandom wiki page because the images are very high quality.
