Avengers Assemble Film AKA The Avengers Review

Marvel fans it's been a few weeks since we last spoke and well I thought that i'd talk about a film that blew us all away when it first came out. I want to clear something up right now i'm going to be using the UK and Ireland name of this movie just because that's the title that I know the film to be hence why i'm also using the UK and Ireland poster for the film and so that Marvel fans here is my review of the film that took the world by storm when it first came out 2012's "Avengers Assemble" aka "The Avengers" enjoy guys and girls.

The plot of the movie is Loki  is trying to take over earth using an object known as The Tesseract and so it's up to Iron Man , Thor , Captain America , Hulk , Black Widow and Hawkeye to form a team in order to stop him. Yeah I enjoyed the story back when the film first came out and I still enjoy it now it's a story that is really well told in my opinion even tho it's just your basic MCU story but here that makes sense since they don't have to set up any of the characters since you have all the other films for that and so this film just gets on with it's story.

Starring in the movie is Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark / Iron Man and Chris Evans as Steve Rogers / Captain America. Also starring in the film is Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner / Hulk , Chris Hemsworth as Thor , Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow , Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton / Hawkeye , Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill , Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson , Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Tom Hiddleston as Loki.

The acting in the MCU has always been top notch even in the films that aren't that good and the same thing is true here. All of the actors in the film both returning and not do a really good job playing these characters which for the newer actors I can't imagine it was an easy thing to get your head around but they did a solid job and so it's no surprise that these actors now pretty much own the live action version of these characters.

A ton of companies worked on effects for this movie the most notable of which being Weta Digital and Industrial Light & Magic. I honestly didn't like the effects in the film to me while they are indeed nice to look at the looked like something that you'd see a late PS4 game and not something that you'd see in a feature length film but like I said the effects where nice to look at but they could have been better in my opinion.

To me the character who kind of suffers the most from the effects is Hulk who at times (like in the above picture)can look really good but then there times like for example in the fight with Thor where he looks like a video game character. Which is a shame because as we know in the later films the effects on Hulk get better and better and so to see him looking fairly average in this movie is to me a fairly shocking thing to see.

This films mentions something that i'm shocked that the Black Widow movie isn't covering and that's the mission in Budapest. This has been bugging many people for years and it's one that hasn't been answered at least in the films , which is a shame because that's apparently the start of the Black Widow and Hawkeye friendship which is a key plot point in this movie and so I really want to know what happens on that mission so that we can see how there friendship got started and how they've grown not only as characters but as people.

Honestly the shot sequence that made me realise that we're finally seeing all of these characters together is when we see Thor , Iron Man and Captain America fight for the first time. Up until this point both in this movie and in the MCU as a whole the crossovers were really small and the two characters very rarely interacted with each other with the exception of Thor and Coulson that is and so to see a sequence in a movie where three main characters meet each other for the first time was just so awesome in my opinion.

Let's take a second to talk about the villain of the film who as I mentioned is Loki as played wonderfully by Tom Hiddleston. I honestly found the character to be even more enjoyable in this film and that's really saying something because I really liked him in Thor but what really made me like him more in this film, is that I honestly feel that he was better written in this film then he was in Thor but what I didn't like is the fact that they brought the character back without explaining how he survived the end of Thor.

Now then boys and girls since this is an action film that does mean that we have to talk about the action that's in the film itself. Which honestly I freaking loved because of how entertaining it is especially in the third act during the final battle when it's just balls to the wall crazy and it's just so fun to watch. We also get to see every member of the team do what they do best in a quite one shot which I loved back then and I love it now.

Overall this is how you do a team up movie because this movie hell this Cinematic Universe is built such strong foundations that this film was going to be a hit the second it started filming which should have been the case for Justice League. Yes this movie isn't perfect i've pointed that out several times before in this review but the one thing that it is is fun and that's never a bad thing and so this film gets an 8.5 out of 10 from me.
