The Lost Empire Review

Film fans every once in a while there comes a film that even I haven't heard of and well today is one of those times. Since the film that i'm about to review until Sunday night I never knew existed but after watching a review of it from Youtuber Brandon Tenold and if you haven't seen one of his videos your missing out so yeah film fans here is my review of the film "The Lost Empire" enjoy it film fans.

Now here is where is I would normally tell you what the plot of the film as well as give you my opinions on it. However the film did me a huge favour by not including a plot I wish that I was kidding but i'm honestly not the film has no plot to speak of even the premise of the film is so thin that it might as well not be there and the premise is some guy wants some mystical thing for something and that's it there's no plot and very thin premise.

Starring in this film is Melanie Vincz as Angel Wolfe , Raven De La Croix as Whitestar , Angela Aames as Heather McClure , Paul Coufos as Rick Stanton , Robert Tessier as Koro , Angus Scrimm as Dr. Sin Do/Lee Chuck , Blackie Dammett as Prager , Linda Shayne as Cindy Blake , Kenneth Tobey as Capt. Hendry , Tom Rettig as Officer Robinson , Angelique Pettyjohn as Whiplash , Art Hern as Charles Chang , Anne Gaybis as Prison Referee and Bill Thornbury as Rob Wolfe.

If you've seen any b-movie and I mean anyone doesn't matter which one then you know how bad the acting in these films can be and sadly the same is true for this film. The acting is really bad and that's by the very low standards that anyone should have for b-movies I honestly cannot think of one single good actor in this film because all of them are really freaking bad and that's something that I cannot stress enough.

Now i've seen alot of bad films all of which feature bad characters however none of them are as annoying as the character of Heather. This character spends alot of the film chewing gum which is freaking annoying and all she does is tell bad jokes and puns she's meant to be this bada*s of a character and yet she's spending all of the film being irritating as all hell I really have nothing positive to say about this character what so ever since she's such an annoying character in my humble opinion.

Now then as you can tell by the above pictures there's two reasons why each actress was hired I don't think I need to say what they are since there quite massive. That really does say alot about the director since he clearly wasn't expecting his audience to be focusing on the actresses acting skills which to be fair is not a bad movie infact Russ Meyer made a career out of it however Russ also made sure the people he hired could actually act and that there characters were actually likeable something that this director clearly didn't care about.

I wish that I was making this up but this film was never meant to get a theatrical release infact producer financier Henry Plitt only put money into the film so he could write it of as a tax right off . It was only after seeing the finished film that he then chose to put it into theatre's so basically this film was in a situation similar to that of the 1944 Fantastic Four film only this film sadly got to see the light of day.

This is the directorial debut for Roger Corman screen writer Jim Wynorski who is still directing films to this very day. and to the film's credit you really can't tell that this is someone's first time directing a feature film. In fact if I didn't know that this was someone's directing debut just because the film is so well shot and the sets do look great so you'd be forgiven for thinking that this was made by a more experienced director.

The title of the film doesn't even make sense because there's no mention of a lost empire anywhere in the film. Which I know is a small thing to mention but I at least expected the title of the film to make some sort of sense but it doesn't since they make no mention as to what the lost empire even is or why it's even lost it's a completely confusing title that makes no sense even in the context of within the film itself.

Now believe it or not this is an action film and so that means that we have to talk about the action in the film itself. Now given that this is low budget b-movie the action isn't as bad as it perhaps could have been yes the choreography is pretty bad but it honestly could have been alot worse and the fact that Raven De La Croix did her own stunts in the film is highly commendable but at the same time I wish that the action was better then what we got.

Overall this is a pretty bad film and it's honestly best forgotten I really cannot think of anything else to say about the film. I can however mention the fact that I tried to find high quality images for the film but I couldn't simply because this is a little known low budget b-movie there's not even a fandom page for this film and so film fans this best forgotten terrible film gets a 3.5 out of 10 from me it's not as bad as Zombie Hunter but it's still really bad and if you don't know what Zombie Hunter is google Zombie Hunter film and you'll find out.
