Ana Review

Film fans you guys see me review alot of big budget films all of the time well every once in a while I like to review a smaller lesser known film. This is where the film that i'm going to review today comes in because this film is so small and so unknown that there are very few images of it on Google and only a small handful of behind the scenes pictures on IMDB so all the pictures your going to see are ones that i've had to screen shot while watching the film and so here is my review of the film Ana enjoy.

The plot of the film is Ana is driven across country (don't know which country but it's America) by her neighbour Rafa in order to give her to her dad after her mother is sent to jail. Yeah this is your typical kid has to get somewhere and ends up bonding with the person taking them if you've seen one of these movies then you've seen them all and on top of that the plot is so thin in this film that might as well not even be there.

Starring in the film is Dafne Keen as Ana , Andy Garcia as Rafa , Jeanne Tripplehorn as Pastor Helen , Luna Lauren Velez as Camila , Ramón Franco as Diego , Julitza Berberena as Tourist , Aris Mejias as Leonor , Blas Sien Diaz as Miguel ,  Ketty McDougall as Mariella and Alexon Duprey as Josue. I'm not going to lie the only reason why i'm seeing this movie is because the awesomeness that is Dafne Keen is in this movie and I loved her in Logan as did the rest of the world.

I'll admit that I haven't seen Andy Garcia in anything so I had no idea what to expect from him in this movie and I have to say that if his performance in this movie is anything to go by then I might be tempted to check out his other films. As for Dafne just like with Logan she really does kill it and I can really see a bright future for her in acting if only she would choose better films tho but she will learn with time.

Just to give you an idea of how small and unknown this film is it doesn't even have a Wikipedia page just to give you an idea of how little known this film there are a ton of straight to DVD films out there all of which have a Wikipedia page but this film doesn't even have that. That honestly does make it very hard to get any kind of information on the film so everything is just from IMDB which isn't reliable at best.

Now as you'll all no doubt know I very rarely talk about the characters in either a film , TV show or comic book mostly because I have no idea what i'm talking about half of the time. Here tho I feel that I have to because Ana herself is a very troubled character she comes from a broken home and her mother is in jail and on top of that her mother's boyfriend is abusive towards her that to me makes her an interesting character because she's seen the worst side of people all the time and yet is still willing to trust them even tho she knows that she could get hurt because of it.

Now in some films this would come back to bite her on the backside but because she's also a little street smart as well she can see when it's coming and get out of dodge before it's to late. While to some this would seem like a bad character and I could totally see there point if they made that argument here tho it's something that works because Andy's character has also seen the worst side of people and has all but given up and basically the complete opposite of Ana so they balance each other out and they need each other more then they realise.

Speaking of the main actors they honestly did have some great chemistry together and that in turn helped sell me on their growing bond. Alot of these films will just cast actors who don't have the best chemistry together in order to get some laughs but that really does end up effecting those films in a bad way here tho because the actors have such great chemistry together the jokes feel more natural as does the friendship between the pair.

This is the first anything that iv'e seen Dafne Keen in where her character acts like an actual kid and bare in mind the only other thing that i've seen her in is Logan. So it was really refreshing for me because i'm so used to seeing her play these I guess more grown up kids and she honestly does look like she's having a good time just being a kid in this movie and I know that that's a weird thing to say but it's honestly the truth.

Just like how I have no idea where this thing is set I also have no idea where it was filmed but they did manage to get some truly beautiful shots in the film. Wherever they filmed this movie must be a stunning place because in a lot of the wide shots there's just alot of stunning scenery to look at and it honestly did make me want to go and visit the locations just so I could experience the beauty of the country it was filmed in.

This is a comedy drama and that means that we have to talk about those aspects of the film so let us first start of with the drama. There rather shockingly wasn't that much of it in the whole film which really did shock me because I was expecting it to be really drama heavy but there's only one or two scenes with drama in it and even then one of those scenes is typical scene where they have a falling out and then make up a few seconds later which is predictable and it doesn't really work for this movie at all in my opinion.

Also not working for this film is one hour and forty five minuet run time I know that that doesn't sound very long but for a comedy drama it's a long time. Since the plot is very thin as well that does mean that the film can for a lot of the time feel like it's dragging with alot of the scenes in the film not adding to the overall plot of the film which doesn't even get resolved at all so it makes the whole thing pointless.

Now then we've talked about the drama aspect of this comedy drama so it's only right that we now talk about the comedy in the film. I honestly felt that the comedy in the film was rather sweet alot of the jokes really did work and that's because of the actors chemistry in my opinion do I wish that the jokes in the film could have been funnier at times yes of course I do but then i'd feel like those jokes weren't coming from the characters which is what I felt here since alot of the jokes are character driven and aren't just random jokes said for no reason.

Overall this was a really sweet film and one that I would recommend to people if they have a few hours to kill. It is however a film with a lot of faults which i've covered in this review and I just have ti say that i'm sorry if the images are a bit fuzzy around the edges since there aren't alot of usable images on Google i've had to screen grab them and these were the best that I could get and so film fans this film gets a 6 out of 10 from me.
