G.I. Joe: The Movie Review

Now then animation fans you all know me i'll review anything and everything and to help continue to live up to that reputation is a review of perhaps the cheesiest movie based on a show i've ever seen G.I. Joe: The Movie.

The plot of this eighties cheese fest is The heroic G.I. Joe action force must oppose the ruthless Cobra organization that has secretly allied with a subterranean reptilian people who were their founders. Yeah the plot is as cheesy as you think a plot to an animated G.I. Joe movie would be but at the same time I kinda love it because it's cheesy and the fact that the film knows how cheesy it is but tho the the film's pacing is pretty freaking bad.

Now the cast list for this film is freaking huge so i'm not going to name every single actor who's listed so starring in the film is Shuko Akune as Jinx , Michael Bell as Duke, Xamot, Blowtorch and Lift-Ticket , Burgess Meredith as Golobulus , Don Johnson as Lt. Falcon , Charlie Adler as Low-Light and Sgt. Slaughter as Sgt. Slaughter.

What I do have to say that this movie is based on the classic cartoon series G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero and alot of the actors in that show are in this movie and i've not seen the series so i'm judging this as a movie and with that in mind I have to say that the acting in this film is at best pretty decent in all honesty the only actor who I think is giving it 100% is Burgess Meredith.

Now what many people might not be aware of is the fact that both this movie and The Transformers: The Movie were in production at the same time but due to various production delays The Transformers movie was released first (they were both due for release around the same time) but because The Transformers movie bombed at the box office the theatrical G.I. Joe movie released was cancelled and instead it was released on VHS.

Having a cancelled big screen release isn't the only thing that would effect this movie because once again thanks to The Transformers movie which featured the death of one of there main characters there's a scene in this movie where a main character was going to die but there had to be an extra line added in in which they state that this character is instead in a coma but if you listen to the music playing it's pretty freaking clear that character is straight up dead.

From what I can gather in my research about the movie the movie was animated by Toei Animation and again not having seen the series I can say that the animation in the movie is pretty freaking decent it's not as bad as I thought it would be but at the same time it's not as good as I thought it could have been I wasn't expecting PIXAR levels of animation but at least early Dragon Ball levels of animation.

If you ask anyone who's seen this movie chances are they will tell you that the best animation in the whole movie is in the opening and that only made me wonder why the whole movie didn't look this good and if they spent the budget just on the opening alone because seriously the animation in the opening is fantastic.

Speaking of the opening not only does it have the best animation in the whole movie it's the best part of the whole movie the opening is so awesome that no matter what happened next it was going to fail it is three minuets of pure awesomeness i'm not even kidding the opening to the movie is better then the movie it self.

If you like a movie that is pure cheese then this is the movie for you if you want to know how cheesey this movie is Burgess Meredith plays a character called Golobulus who is half snake and there's a character called Pythona.

Overall this is a really freaking cheesey movie but it's cheesey in a good way and it's very entertaining movie but it's also a very flawed movie and you can tell where they edited plot points in this movie so it gets a 7 out of 10 from me.
