Ferdinand Review

Hello animation and welcome to my final review of an animated film for the rest of the year and what a film to go out on this film could possibly be the last film that Blue Sky Studios work on and it could also be the last animated film that 20th Century Fox released before they were bought by Disney.

The plot of this movie is after Ferdinand a bull with a big heart is mistaken for a dangerous beast he is captured and torn from his home determined to return to his family he rallies a misfit team on the ultimate adventure. Yeah that plot summery doesn't do the film justice but it's the best one i could find but yeah the story is pretty good and i have to admit i had no idea where the story was going.

For you wrestling fans out there the film stars John Cena , Kate McKinnon , David Tennant , Bobby Cannavale and Miguel Ángel Silvestre. Casting wise the film is pretty good believe it or not this is the best film i've seen John Cena in and he's actually really good in this film Kate gives the type of performance we've come to expect from her and she's playing the same type of character she always plays and the rest of cast are decent as well.

Honestly this film had me laughing quite a bit the jokes aren't clever by any means but there the type of jokes that will help get you over the post christmas blues altho with all that said the film does something which really freaking annoyed me and that was the use of slow motion it's used quite a bit in this film and it's used as the punchline to unfunny jokes.

As mentioned at the start of the review this film could very well be the final film that Blue Sky Studios release depending on what new owners Disney wants to do with them but as far as this film goes the animation was actually fairly ok it's nothing to special but at the same time it's not bad it's just average and that's really the best thing i can say about the animation it's just average.

Now i'm a fan of Mad Max: Fury Road with that said however there was no need for pretty much the third act to be one long action scene it worked in Fury Road because they used the action to tell the story here tho they aren't it's just there for the sake for having an action sequence.

Now don't repeat what i'm about to say ok but i saw this film the illegal way and when you watch a film that way your taking a lot of chances with things like picture quality and if the whole film will be there or not in the case of Ferdinand the picture quality was ok however the whole film wasn't there and whoever was recording the film liked to move the camera around alot this is nothing against the film but it's something i wanted to say.

The music for the film was done by John Powell who's worked on alot of really good animated films but i have to say his music in this film to me wasn't his best work it's not bad but it's not as good as i know it can be here it just feels like he's working for a pay check and not because he truly believes in the film.

Overall if you have little kids or nieces and nephews staying over christmas then i see no harm in taking them to see this movie but for me this movie gets a 7 out of 10.
