Mother! Review

Horror fans i'm here today to bring a review of a movie that is was honestly more excited for then the IT remake and i've finally had a chance to see the movie so here is my review of mother!.

The plot of the movie is a couple's relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home disrupting their tranquil existence. I have to admit that the plot of this movie is really slow paced i think that due to that pacing it helped the movie with it's atmosphere but what doesn't help the movie is the fact that it's just plain boring.

The film has a small cast which includes Jennifer Lawrence , Javier Bardem , Ed Harris , Michelle Pfeiffer , Domhnall Gleeson and his brother Brian Gleeson , Kristen Wiig , Jovan Adepo , Stephen McHattie and Laurence Leboeuf. I have to say that i thought the casting for this film was really spot on Javier is a great actor and he's great in this movie and i know this will rub people the wrong way but so is Jennifer Lawrence those two really carry the movie i only wish that they had better chemistry together and Michelle Pfeiffer just gets more beautiful as time goes on.

What i found really interesting about the film is the fact that it only uses one main location and it's the couple's house i really can't think of any horror films that use just one main location throughout the whole film.

Another really interesting thing about this movie is that none of the main characters have names that are spoken in the film so if you want to find the names of the main characters you have to go to IMDB it's nothing that impacts the film but it's something that i thought was really interesting and was worth talking about.

This is a horror but it doesn't really have any scares in it now usually this would be a bad thing but it's also listed as a Psychological Horror film and that's what it plays up more and i think that for this film it works you don't need lots of kills to make something scary all you need is a great story and great characters and the film only really has about two kills that's a rare thing for a horror film.

This film is considered a flop and i think i know why and it's down to two simple reasons and the first one is the fact that this film opened about a week after the remake of IT came out which means alot of people were still flooding to see that film then this one the other reason is lack of marketing there was only one main trailer released for this film and a handful of posters and that's really it so pretty much no one knew about this movies existence even horror fans aren't talking about this movie.

The final thing that i found in interesting about this film was the fact that it had no score there's no music for this film what so ever but it did have a score completed tho by Jóhann Jóhannsson but both he and director Darren Aronofsky chose not to use it so we now have a unique film just due to the fact that there's not score at all.

Overall i'd say if you like Psychological Horror films then you should check this out but in my humble opinion IT is the better film for me this film gets a 6 out of 10.
