Dunkirk Review
Hello there film fans one of the greatest filmmakers of our generation Christopher Nolan has made many great films in the past and now he's back with the war film Dunkirk is it any good well let's find out shall we.
The story of the film is all about the evacuation that took place at Dunkirk in France but the story is told from three different points of view and each one covers a certain amount of time the story from the soldiers point of view on the beach covers one week , the story for the people trying to rescue them in the boats that covers a day and the one for the air force covers one hour. I have to admit that i really enjoyed this way of telling the story not only did it mean less jumping around with the audience expected to keep up but it was also a different way of telling the story and i loved that the only issue i had was that i couldn't connect to the characters.
The cast for this film includes a few Nolan regulars including Cillian Murphy , Tom Hardy and Micheal Cane the rest of the cast includes Fionn Whitehead , Tom Glynn-Carney , Jack Lowden , international superstar Harry Styles , Mark Rylance and Sir Kenneth Branagh. The cast for this film are incredible you expect greatness from Ken Branah anyway and i guess you could say the same for Mark as well and the same goes for all the nolan regulars but what i didn't expect and i'm not a fan of One Direction but Harry Styles is actually really good in this movie i'm not sure if that's because he had a great director to work with or if he's a good actor or not but in this film he really brought it.
What i really liked about this film is that unlike other war films this one doesn't shy away from showing the negative effects of the war you see soldiers suffer from shell shock and you see how that effects them emotionally which i thought was a really great touch as it's something we havn't seen in war films before.
This film is a treat for the eyes the film is visually stunning and i loved the fact that the cast and crew filmed on the beach were the actual evacuation took place all those years ago rather admittedly there's not much i can say about how the film looks as there's not that many locations in the film but it's worth watching just for the visuals alone.
What i personally didn't like is the fact that the film is basically one long third act i would have liked to have seen everything leading up to the evacuation instead of starting the film when the soldiers are all on the beach because it would give you more time to get to know the characters and thus get to care about them.
As you can guess by the fact that Christopher Nolan made this film then you'll know who did the music the great Hans Zimmer and for once there wasn't that many drums in the music well from what i could hear anyway but with that said the music is great and is easily up there with his Dark Knight score that's how good it is.
Overall guys do not see this online go to the cinema and see it you have to experience this movie on the big screen yes it does have it's issues as i've listen but it's still a great film and for me the film is an 8.5 out of 10.
