Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie Review

Hello movie fans and animation wow do i have a special kind of movie for you all today so here is my review of Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie.

The story of this film and i use the word story loosely is two best friends and there comic creation come to life called Captain Underpants have to defeat Professor (can't believe i'm going to say this)Poopypants. I'm going to come right out and say it the story for this film is weak at best and it isn't helped by the fact the story starts proper at around the 45 minuet mark which for an hour and a half movie is not a good thing in fact it's a bad thing but on the plus side the film has good pacing.

This film stars Ed Helms , Kevin Heart , Thomas Middleditch , Nick Kroll , Jordan Peele and Kristen Schaal and i have to say from a voice acting point of view the movie does fair really well i liked the whole cast in this movie but the cast aren't really given anything to work with so all the performances just come of as the kind of performance you'd expect from that actor and that's a shame because there's a lot of funny people in this movie.

As you can tell by the poster this movie is made by Dreamworks Animation and it's also the last film to be distributed by 20th Century Fox and from an animation standpoint the film is ok because while the film does have some truly beautiful animation and it does mix in various forms of animation there are times when the animation feels of and there are times when a character is to cartoony which was something that really bugged me and it's something that i hope Dreamworks fixes in future movies.

I have to talk about the so called villain in this movie like the villain in Cars 3 he is just there to act as an obstacle for our heroes altho unlike the villain in Cars 3 he does actually try to act like a villain but he's so badly written he just feels like a two dimensional character and is very forgettable.

Now this movie was written by Nicholas Stoller who was one of the writers on the recent Muppets Movies so you'd expect there to be clever jokes right wrong all of the jokes in this movie are very childish and there's a lot of fart jokes when will hollywood learn that fart jokes aren't funny even the villains name is one long fart joke and there's alot of fourth wall jokes some don't and some do but overall alot of the jokes just don't work.

For me the big action scene was the movies weakest point just because it does something no movie that has an action scene should do it breaks away from that scene and has the two main characters tell you what happens you shouldn't do that you loose all moment you might have had if you do that.

The score for this film was done by Theodore Shapiro and his score is the typical score you would find for a superhero movie and it just kinda there but what i did find interesting and i actually liked was the theme song which was done by song comedy great Weird Al Yankovic.

Overall i'd say if you have little little kids then take them to see it because they'll love it but leave your phone because you'll be using it for me this movie is a perfect 5 out of 10
