Hey Arnold!: The Movie Review

Hello there animation fans if you recall a few days ago on Cartoon Amino i posted a poll asking which movie you wanted me to review next and with over 50% of the vote here is my review of Hey Arnold!: The Movie.

The plot for this movie is a greedy developer wants to destroy Arnold's neighborhood so Arnold and friends try to stop it from happening. That's really all you get in terms of plot it's basically the plot of a TV movie which is ironic because this was meant to be a TV movie the film really isn't helped by the fact that the pacing is all other place.

The cast for the movie is the same cast that's in the show so i won't bother naming them all here that and there's a lot to name but for me the standout performers are Spencer Klein as Arnold , Francesca Marie Smith as Helga and Jamil Walker Smith as Gerald who put in great performances they make there characters who are in the extra ordinary situation seem human and i really liked that and what i found out while doing research for this movie was that Dan Castellaneta aka Homer Simpson plays Arnold's Grandpa.

Another thing that really bugged me about this movie is the animation and the art they both look like they had no budget put into them don't get me wrong the animation is fine for a TV show but this is movie so you have to make improvements and the art looks like it was done by a three year old so yeah to say i'm not a fan of the art in this movie is an understatement but the artwork would have been fine if this was a TV movie and not a theatrically released movie but tho to the films credit both the art and and animation look like the style used in the TV show.

The TV show wasn't really well known for it's humor but this movie does actually have some funny moments granted not alot but they are there and when you see the jokes that are in the movie you'll find yourself laughing there's a lot of great jokes with Arnold's Grandma which i won't spoil here but it does form a great running joke.

The main villain of the movie Scheck as played by Paul Sorvino to me is a weak villain he falls into the typical rich character who will do anything it takes to get what he wants. He also has no motivation at all he shows up and is just evil for the sake of being evil it would have helped the movie more if he was given some form of motivation instead of just doing what he does for insert generic reason here.

Despite all of the movies shortcomings it does actually contain i pretty well done chase scene which is something i'd never thought i'd say about a Hey Arnold! product but it was nice to look at and i got the impression that this scene is were most of the crew put in there effort which while it did help this scene standout it didn't help the overall movie.

Overall this wasn't the best product they could have done if anything this movie feels like two or three episodes of the show edited together but i'm glad that this year we are getting the Arnold movie that was actually meant to be seen in cinemas that being the TV movie Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie but for me this movie is a 5.5 out of 10
