Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children Review

Hello there movie fans i'm not ashamed to say that i;m a bt of a Tim Burton fan he is one of the most unique directors out there and so when i found out his new movie was filming a few hours from where i live i was excited to see it and so here is my review of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.

The story for this film is when Jacob discovers clues to a mystery that spans different worlds and times, he finds a magical place known as Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. But the mystery and danger deepen as he gets to know the residents and learns about their special powers... and their powerful enemies ultimately Jacob discovers that only his own special "peculiarity" can save his new friends. The story is very told i thought it gets going pretty much right after the credits start and when it gets going it doesn't not stop the film also has great pacing and i can tell you it will not feel like two hours at all.

The film has a great cast which includes Eva Green as Miss Peregrine , Asa Butterfield as Jacob , The great Judi Dench as Miss Esmeralda Avocet and Samuel L. Jackson as Mr. Barron and i have to say all of these actors put in a great performance but i think it's the child stars that steal the show especially Ella Purnell as Emma Bloom who is just fantastic in this film and i can tell you right now expect to see all of the child stars in future movies because they are all fantastic.

I liked how all of the children at some point during the awesome third act got to use there gifts it really helped the film stand out a bit more for me as it made all the characters feel important to the story and all of those throw away scenes earlier on suddenly become more important as you realise they were setting up something that was going to pay off later on in the film.

I will say this the movie does include alot of burtonisq humor and by that i mean it's very dark humor sort of the thing that you saw in Beetlejuice and you know what all of it worked for me i won't spoil what the jokes are but when they happen in the movie you will know about it.

As someone who is from the north of England and as someone who actually saw some of the set for this film while it was being made i was glad to see that an American produced big budget movie chose to not only set it's third act but also film in Blackpool which was great for me personally because i used to visit there alot.

I loved the look of the monsters in this movie i thought they looked really creepy and the thought that they are invisible to most people is creepy as hell that said however i cannot help but notice that they look very similar to the creators in Alien i don't know if that's on purpose or not but it's true.

This was something i thought i would never see a Tim Burton film not starring Tim's ex-wife and Johnny Depp but also not scored by Danny Elfman but Matthew Margeson and  Mike Higham do a fantastic job in creating a gothic score. Also impressive were the sets each one looked like it was actually there and that if i wanted to i could reach out and touch it.

Overall this is a great film that is worth watching it has alot of up sides and alot of downsides which are the fact that you can tell who the love interest is just from watching the trailer and the fact that they don't use Judi Dench very much and the fact that the villain really doesn't do much when you think about it so i have to give this film an 8 out of 10
