Batman & Robin Film Review

There have been plenty of really painfully bad comic book movies released very recently by not only Marvel and DC but by ither comic book companies. However none of those films will ever do the damage to the comic book movie industry then the film that i'm going to be talking to you about today did as this film wholly proved the people that said that comic books are for kids right and because of that all of the good work and all of the good will that was built up not only in the previous three films but in other actually good comic book films had to be redone and so then join me as I review the film that turned Batman into a bigger joke then the sixties Adam West TV show did with the film in question being called simply just "Batman & Robin" enjoy.

The plot of this film is Batman and his sidekick Robin have to stop the evil duo of Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy from freezing the earth forever. Now then interms in terms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty person ally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in al honesty really bad with the plot of this film being at best laughably bad and at it's worst just flat out bad as this films plot just didn't feel like a Batman plot especially one that's set in the same world as Batman'89 and Batman Returns as yes both this film and the previous film are meant to be set in the exact same world and while the plot of the previous film was able to still have a dark enough edge to it and there for you could still buy it being set in the same world as the other two films here all of the edge has been sanded down with the plot of this film being as safe , boring and predictable as they come with there not really being anything about this films plot that just screams Batman as alot of this films plot is just that bad and is also really childish as well which is most likely due to the fact that Warner Bros wanted a batman film that was more safe and marketable and because of the fact that they wanted an actually good Batman film with the plot of this film not even being really rather entertaining nor is it really rather engaging either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is George Clooney as Bruce Wayne / Batman and Chris O'Donnell as Dick Grayson / Robin. Also starring in this film is Alicia Silverstone as Barbara Wilson / Batgirl , Michael Gough as Alfred Pennyworth , Robert Swenson as Bane , John Glover as Dr. Jason Woodrue , Vivica A. Fox as Miss B. Haven , Elle Macpherson as Julie Madison , Elizabeth Sanders as Gossip Gerty , Pat Hingle as Commissioner James Gordon , Uma Thurman as Dr. Pamela Isley / Poison Ivy , Vendela Kirsebom as Nora Fries and Arnold Schwarzenegger as Dr. Victor Fries / Mr. Freeze.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty for the most part really bad. As while this film does indeed have some actors in it that are quite clearly trying to turn in a good performance like for example Michael Gough as Alfred Pennyworth who is just a joy to watch in alot of his scenes alot more of this films actors just aren't able to turn in a good performance even tho we the audience know full well that they are capable of doing so thanks to actually seeing them do exactly that in other and more better films and as a result of that is the fact that it is really shocking to see these actors to turn the kind of performance that we the audience not only know that they can turn in but almost expect them to turn as well with the acting that's in this very film not really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so bad as it gives none of this films actors absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there respective characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does help to effect the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Doing the CGI for this film is Cinesite , Hammerhead Productions , Pacific Data Images , Pacific Title Digital , Warner Digital Studios , CIS Hollywood , Illusion Arts , Rhythm & Hues Studios , Rainmaker Digital Pictures , Effects Associates , Flash Film Works , Laser Media and New Deal Studios. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt a bout the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in tis very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty OK at best as while yes there are some really good looking CGI effects done in this film that have aged about as well as can be expected given when this film was first being made and released there are alot also alot of really bad looking CGI effects in his film none of which are the fault the effects teams that worked on the movie as it's more due to the what technology that they had available to work with at the time of making the movie as really alot of the freeze effects do look good but then the film will use CGI in a place where it's really not really needed like during one of the films many flying thought the city shots they used CGI to add in a car moving along what is quite possibly a road and it's something that really does look really bad and it really makes you wonder they did it that way when they really could have done the whole thing for real by using miniatures.

This film does use the exact same origin story for Dr. Victor Fries / Mr. Freeze that was done so perfectly well in the Batman: The Animated Series episode Heart Of Ice. However what made the origin story work in that episode is the fact that it was a beautiful episode that was completely and utterly heartbreaking where as here the story doesn't work as it doesn't take the tome to make this films version of Mr. Freeze a character that you want to route as apart from a few scenes spread all throughout the film he acts like a stereotypical bad guy where as in the Heart Of Ice episode they actually took the time to make you care for him and make you feel sorry for him so much so that you start to view the person who fired him at the start of the episode as the stories true villain where as here the film doesn't don't any of that and as a result of that is the fact that the origin story for this character just falls flat and rings hollow as alot of it really hinges on the fact that Mr. Freeze is a likable character but you still have to make us the audience actually care for the character and make us want to see him  succeed in finding a cure for his wife and when this film doesn't do any of that all we are left is a poor representation of what was and still is a classic episode of Batman: The Animated Series that is still remembered for how good of a episode that it was where as here this movie is really only remembered for how bad that it is.

To give this episode some form of credit having a plotline with Alfred and having it tie back into the origin story of Dr. Victor Fries / Mr. Freeze was a really good. With Alfred's subplot in this movie being that he's dying but due to to his love for Bruce , Dick and Barbera he doesn't tell them as he doesn't want to cause them any kind of pain this is such a good idea as it ties Batman into the villains story and makes the story even more personal for Bruce as now he not only has to stop both Freeze and Ivy from freezing Gotham but he also has to find a way to stop someone who is essentially his father figure from dying and while the film doesn't rightfully go that much into detail with Alfred's plotline it would have been nice if the film did give that plot line alot more focus as that was the more interesting plot line in the film and was more mature then the films actual main plot and so to do would also allow for Michael Gough to turn in an even better performance as it could also give us some more scenes of Alfred breaking down as he realises that he's never going to see these people again something which we do actively see him do at the start of the film and yet we never see it again and the heck the makers of the film could have found away to tie the two plotlines together even better then what they already do but at the same time tho batman should always be the main character of a Batman film and while yes he does have the exact same plot line that he's had in three of the four Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher films he still should be the main character in his own movies.

Even tho there working together the plan that Poison Ivy and Mr. Freeze come up with doesn't really work with Poison Ivy. As the pair want to freeze the entire earth and start over and yet by freezing the entire earth that would also mean that billions of plants would also die out something which someone line Poison Ivy really should have known given the fact that she was a scientist and yet because o the fact that the film needs them to work together for no reason over then to give Bruce and Dick someone to fight over and to give Batgirl someone to beat up at the end of the film she now has to agree with a plan that goes against everything that she stands for and heck the idea of airing the two of them up is a bad idea because of the fact that the two of them don't work well together due to the fact that she loves plants and Freeze's plan would involve plants dying out heck a villain to team her up with would be someone like Scarecrow for example or maybe they could have done a better version of Bane as at least then the plans wouldn't benefit one of the villains and make the other one look dumb for not picking up on the fact that her whole deal wouldn't work with the current plan and what's worse is the fact that this is an issue that really could have been fixed at the scriptwriting stage of the movies production and yet the very fact that this issue wasn't picked up on makes this film even worse and it makes this films version of Poison Ivy come across as an even worse badly written character then what she was in the first place.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly two hours and four minuets and fifty four seconds. Which is a really solid running time for this film to have as this film really foes have the right amount of plot to really cover that really large amount of running time but at the same time tho this film still feels a bit to long as there's nothing about this film from a plot point of view that really does demand that it be this long as the film very easily could have gotten away with making alot of cuts to the film to remove alot of the fat in this film like the fact that we don't need to see alot of the scenes with Ivy to get Batman and Robin to kiss her as you'd really only need two or three scenes to get across the fact that she's trying to break them up and that's really it and yet the film keeps on coming back to it all the time when it doesn't play into anything and as a result of that is the fact that the it means that Barbera now doesn't get much in the way of character development as the film now feels overstuffed with all of these plot lines and characters to keep up with instead of just dropping the more pointless scenes and giving that screen time to fully setting up a character that we really haven't seen yet and have to like as the she is one of the films main characters and the film can't do that with alot of the pointless Ivy , Batman and Robin scenes but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action fil that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that good but at the same time tho it wasn't all of that bad either. With this films action just being really over the top but at the same time that is something that  you expect from a kids comic book movie as well but given just how good the action was in all of the previous films up until this film at this point in time it makes you wonder why the action in this film just doesn't work as alot of this films action feels like a badly done wrestling match where everything is choreographed so much so that you can see the guys waiting for there turn during any of the films action scenes when it reality all of Freeze's henchmen should be attacking Batman and Robin at the same time and the less said about Batgirl lack fighting skills the better as the character doesn't get any decent parts in her two action scenes with her true standout moment being when she beats up Poison Ivy in what can only be described as an over done fight scene and that's really it as she spends the next fight scene either arguing with Robin or being rescued by Batman which is also true for Robin as well but when the film does have a decent and fun action scene it can be a really fun action scene in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall if you think that Joker: Folie à Deux is a really bad movie which it is but then you really should watch this movie and then you'll see what a truly bad Batman movie looks like and heck this movie actually makes Catwoman look somewhat watchable as at least that movie can be watchable where as this film is at times very hard to watch despite it being a movie that's so bad that it's good in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the  bad things that are in this very film in this very review and a such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 3.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as of where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Batman fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great Google Images this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from the really great Google Images are all really high quality and in definition with really with all of the images that really are all currently up and really presently on the really great and the really solid Google Images really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
