The Inbetweeners Movie Film Review

In the late the mid 2000's there was comedy that you absolutely couldn't escape over here in the UK with that show being The Inbetweeners. After three very successful TV series the makers of the show decided not to make a fourth series instead wanting to leave the fans wanting more episodes and as a way to send of these characters in to the sunset they gave us the film that i'm about today and so then join me as I review the film that really didn't need a sequel with the film in question being called simply just "The Inbetweeners Movie" enjoy.

The plot of this film is friends Will , Jay , Simon and Neil decide to head of on holiday to Malia after there final year of school. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with this films plot being simply but delightfully so as the show never had any kind of big plot to it as it was just four boys going about there day to day lives and as such it would be foolish to think that the films plot would be much different with the whole idea behind the show and the film being that it's all about hitting those all important milestones that alot of teenagers do hit on and one of those is going away for the first time without your parents and that's something that this film does wonderfully as it hits all of the thongs that alot of teenagers do when there on their first holiday alone and all of this is done with a very simply plot line that's very easy to follow along with as well which is something that does work really well in the films favor as this film really doesn't need a complicated plot it just needs something that's simple and very easy to follow along with with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Simon Bird as Will McKenzie , James Buckley as Jay Cartwright and Blake Harrison as Neil Sutherland. Also starring in this film is Joe Thomas as Simon Cooper , Emily Head as Carli D'Amato , Laura Haddock as Alison , Tamla Kari as Lucy , Jessica Knappett as Lisa , Lydia Rose Bewley as Jane , Theo James as James , Theo Barklem-Biggs as Richard , Anthony Head as Mr McKenzie , Belinda Stewart-Wilson as Polly McKenzie , Martin Trenaman as Alan Cooper , Robin Weaver as Pamela Cooper , David Schaal as Terry Cartwright , Victoria Willing as Mrs Cartwright , Alex Macqueen as Kevin Sutherland , Greg Davies as Mr Gilbert , Henry Lloyd-Hughes as Mark Donovan , Lauren O'Rourke as Nicole , David Avery as Nicos , Cush Jumbo as Jaime , Storme Toolis as Wheelchair Girl and Aimee Kelly as Party Girl.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With all of this films cast turning in some rather solid performances in this film which is something that does make sense for those actors that are returning from the show as they'd had three years to really get to know there characters and really know what kind of performance would best suit there respective characters in any given situation but it's something that's also really true for the characters that the film introduces as well with all of them not only turning some really good performances in there own right as well but also holding there own when it comes to acting against the TV series cast as well something which no doubt couldn't have been an easy task to do and yet this films newer actors do it really well with the acting that's in this film also being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good that all this films actors really have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of the naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

The show was all about the four boys trying to get girlfriends and that's really it and as a result of that s the fact that it does make sense that this film would give each of the four boys love interests. With each of the four girls being fun and likable characters in there own right and while they butcher her character in the second film Lucy in this film is presented as a sweet and kind character something which a character like Simon really did need after trying to impress a girl for years who only used to him to make her own love interest jealous whilst Jane is the fun and out going type who is willing to do anything for a laugh and Alison is the more calm one of the group as while yes she is willing to do anything for a laugh she's also just happy just sit down and talk however it's Lisa that gets the short end of the stick here as she's literally just female version of Neil in that she's her groups dumb one and that's really it which doesn't really effect her character in anyway but given that all of the other girls compliment the guys personalities so well it would be great to see Neil end up with a girl that compliments his happy go lucky nature as well instead of him ending with with someone who is literally just a female version of himself and that's really as there's nothing much to her personality wise either where as all of the other girls have tons personality to them that make them more memorable characters.

This film does pretty much serve as the series finale with the film wrapping up the series long arc between Simon and Carli. However that's not to mean that you have to be a fan of the show in order to like the movie as you can know noting about the show and still find this movie to he enjoyable as it's characters are really likable and it's jokes are painfully funny with the series translating really well from the small screen to the big screen something that is very hard even for the best of TV series to do and yet this film does it with ease as while yes the opening few minuets and rather rightfully set in the shows main setting of London England the movie very quickly moves away from there which opens up the world that this franchise takes place in which is something that does make the film more friendly to newer audiences and while yes it would help if you did watch the show first it's not something that's needed and it could even be argued that if you like this movie then you can watch the show and get more of the same only without any of the film exclusive characters there is one thing that the show does better then the movie and that's the fact that it puts it's main characters in very relatable situations that anybody can relate to something which isn't necessarily always true for this movie as the characters do find themselves in situations that alot of people most likely won't find relatable but are perfectly matched for the characters tho.

In what was an understandable move the main character of this film is Simon as he's the one that has the big character change and it could even be argued that the whole plot of the movie happens because of him. This is something that was a good move as out of all four boys he's the one that the cast of the show and the film deem to be the most normal of the four boys with him being a hopeless romantic who is in love with someone who just doesn't love him and even tho all throughout the show his plot arc is trying to win the heart of the girl of his dreams his arc in the movie could be argued is the complete and total opposite of that as he has to try and win her back after she leaves him at the start of the film and while he does spend the overall majority of the film trying to get over her it's not until the films third act that he sees her for what she is as she straight up uses him to try and make her love interest in the film jealous and it's this action something which could be written of as a joke but it convinces Simon that Carli isn't all that and that deep down the person that truly did care about him all throughout this film was Lucy something which is a romance that works really well as the both compliment each other perfectly and it's something that he really does earn after completing a franchise long journey that started all the way back in episode one of the show.

For some reason the makers of this film chose to give this film a "villain" which is something that it really didn't need. As while the series regular antagonist Mark Donovan does appear in this film where he appears in this film does make sense and even then it's just one scene in the movie with the film very quickly replacing him with a lesser version of him and it just doesn't work as while yes James does threaten and bully all four boys and Jane he's just that funny as a character and his character let alone a villain type of character really isn't needed in this film as the boys themselves could be argued as there own worst enemy with them constantly getting not only in there own way but also in each others way as well which could be seen as them being being the main villain of the film but with the boys it would be seen as them trying and failing to get girls and win there hearts and just trying to be popular something that all four of them want and wouldn't be seen as them being antagonistic for the sake of them antagonistic and while yes all of four of the boys do get some form of character development with Jay learning that both Will and Simon will be leaving and going of to university and possibly Neil as well and Will learning that it's OK to just be a weird dude and that girls will fall for a guy if he makes them laugh and Neil cheering Will up when he needs it the most these are things that would make it hard for them to be real villains with the film itself not even needing a villain to trigger any of these events as all but Simons plot arc don't need a villain in the first place.

Now then while I cannot for the absolutely life of me remember whatever this films running time even was I do that for a fact that this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and thirty seven minuets and forty one seconds. Which is the absolutely perfect running time for this film to have as the film really does just the right there interms of plot to really cover that large amount of running time as this films plot is really basic and simple and as a result of that is the fact that this film really doesn't require that large amount of running time in order to tell it's story it still however would have been nice if the film was just a few minuets longer and spent a bit longer in London just to fully establish who the boys are as characters for the people who perhaps hadn't seen the show but really on the flip side of that is the fact that this films main audience isn't going to be the people who haven't seen the show it's going to be the people who have seen every single episode of the show and so really spending more time setting up who the boys are as characters really wouldn't be needed as the fans will already know who these characters as characters with there really only being a few scenes that are in this film that could considered filler scenes that really are to pad out the films really solid running time and that's really it but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then  in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With the film having alot of painfully moments in it that even over ten years after this film was first being made and released are still really funny and while yes the show was alot more funnier then what either film was to say that this film had some bad jokes in it would be huge understatement as while yes there are some jokes that don't work like Simon and Jay having what can only be described as the world's fight the film does tell alot more funny jokes like the example the scene where Will , Simon and Neil go and dance there way to the girls is still just as funny as it was the first time around and what makes it funny is the fact that it's cringy scene and the fact that it does feel like something that these characters would infact do as they have no idea how to approach a girl in a bar that makes this joke not only land but land really hard and these types of jokes that make alot of the joked in this film even funnier then what they really had any right to be in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall if your a fan of the show then chances are you've already seen this film and it's sequel but even if you haven't seen a single episode of this show then you really should watch this film as it has some really likable characters that get the happy ending that they really wanted and it is a bunch of really jokes in it as well alot of which do go along way to proving that this film really did stand the test of time in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about al of the good ad as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly an 8 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official The Inbetweeners fandom wiki page , Amazon . Co  Uk , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great Google Images this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from the really great Google Images are all really high quality with all the images that are currently up and on the really great and the really solid Google Images really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
