Spider-Man 2002 Film Review

Superhero films were at one time the in thing to do and yet for some reason recently there just not that good. Yet people seem to forget that there was a time in the early to mid two thousands where what we got was mostly OK superhero movies with there being very few films that broke that mold case in point the film that i'm about to review for you all today as this is the film film to be released after X-Men that proved that comic book movies could actually be good if they were actually well written films and so then join me as I review the film that is still one of the better live action Spider-Man film adaptations with the film in question being called simply just "Spider-Man" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when nerdy teenager Peter Parker gets bitten by a radioactive spider only he can save the world from a mad scientist who really wants to cause mayhem and destruction before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with the plot of the film being just like a comic book only brought to life on the big screen which is exactly what a good comic book movie plot should be with the plot of this film also taking the time to develop both if main characters and still tell a really good story and as a result of that is the fact that we get a plot that is true to the characters and yet is also epic enough to be the plot of movie with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker / Spider-Man and Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson. Also starring in this film is Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn / Green Goblin , James Franco as Harry Osborn , Cliff Robertson as Ben Parker , J. K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson , Ron Perkins as Mendel Stromm , Joe Manganiello as Flash Thompson , Sally Livingstone as Liz Allen , Bill Nunn as Robbie Robertson , Ted Raimi as Ted Hoffman , Elizabeth Banks as Betty Brant , Michael Papajohn as Dennis Carradine , "Macho Man" Randy Savage as Bonesaw McGraw and Rosemary Harris as May Parker.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With all of this films cast members turning in some really good actors which really does make alot of sense given who is starring in this film as pretty much all of this film cast members are a bunch of really good actors in there right and would there be able to turn in a good performance with the true standout performer in this film being Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker / Spider-Man who just simply is Peter Parker and while his performance as Spider-Man needs a little work his take on Peter Parker is perfect as it is with the acting in this film really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good that all this films cast have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of all of them naturally which is something that really dose raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this film.

Doing the CGI for this film is Sony Pictures Imageworks , Digiscope , Pixel Magic , Amalgamated Dynamics , Gentle Giant Studios and Gilderfluke & Co. Inc.. Now the  interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CVGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / resented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good for the most part as while alot of this films CGI has aged really well what hasn't aged really well is the films obvious use of CGI doubles for alot of the films characters which might have looked good back in 2002 but haven't really aged all that well which is of course no fault of the makers of the film as they couldn't help it with what limited technology they had available at the time but it is still something that is extremely noticeable in this film and it is something that really does bring down the overall quality of the films CGI effects as they are just that extremely noticeable.

This film is home to what is perhaps the most romantic kiss in all of comic book cinema which is so iconic that it doesn't even need explaining what the kiss is. As this is a scene that just works as we've gotten the chance to spend alot of time getting to know both of these characters with both characters being really likable and as a result of that is that when they do kiss each other not only does it feel right but it also feels earned and while yes Mary Jane Watson would go out with every single guy that buys her a cop of coffee in these films there's only one guy that she's had a moment like this with and that Peter Parker with the scene being helped by the fact that the acting in this scene just like the acting in the death of Uncle Ben scene is so good and while the the acting in the death of Uncle Ben is heartbreakingly good the acting in this scene is heart-warmingly good as it really does fill your heart and you feel happy for Peter who is happy for the first time in a long time and it's all thanks to that one kiss.

It's not all good tho as there are some things in this film that aren't that good and that the film does get wrong. Like the fact that the tension between Harry and his dad doesn't get resolved and it's something that whilst built up well has it big blow up scene come out of nowhere while this isn't a major issue for this film it is something that does come a major issue when you take into account that the reason that Harry truly and deeply hates Spider-Man is because of the fact that he believes that he killed his father and yet they spend the vast majority of this film arguing with each other and as a result of that is the fact that the reason why there arguing really should have been resolved by the films ending as that would then it make it more logical that Harry would indeed hate his father and yet as things stand it comes across as Harry hates Spider-Man because that's how it was in the comics and not because it's something that makes sense in the context of the film with this being something that could have been fixed with one quick scene with them making up with each other and while it could be argued that Harry made up with his father at his fathers funeral that really just comes across as being two little two late as it's something that should have happened earlier on in the film and not as the film is about to end.

While it is understandable why the makers of this film chose to go with Green Goblin as Spider-Mans first main villain. As out of alot of the very well known one's he is not only perhaps the most well known villain that they could have used but is also perhaps the only one that they could have done given the limited technology that would have been available at the time as alot of Spider-Mans other villains would have required alot of CGI work being done to them just to make them look passable where as here alot of it could be done with the costume and the writing and while the mask and the writing do somewhat let the villain down as the mask just looks goofy looking and we never really get to find out what his ultimate end goal even is the costume is an iconic costume and the acting from Willem Dafoe does make the character seem somewhat passable but it would have been better if the villain had an end goal as that would gave us the audience more of a reason to really hate this character outside of the fact that he's bad guy and there for we must automatically hate him and that's not good enough and it doesn't make seem like a really interesting character either.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly two hours and one minuet and twelve seconds. Which is oddly both the perfect amount of running time for this film to last and yet also a bit on the short side for this film to last as well as while the film does have more then enough there interms of plot to really cover that large amount of running time and yet really at the same time tho if this film was a bit longer then it would mean that this films characters could become more fully developed then what they already are and it could also mean that showing Harry and Norman reconciling could now be shown as well and given just how rich and developed and for lack of a better word real this films world is it really would have been nice to send even just thirty extra minuets in this films world as it's world that really feels real and where the people in it really speak like real people and to spend more time in that world with these characters could be seen as being a really good thing but I will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action film that really does means that I have t actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty i in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. However that's also the problem as alot the action in this very film wasn't all that good either as alot of it just felt like they were only scratching the surface of what they could do with Spider-Man as a character in an action scene as they never really take full advantage of him in the films action scenes as alot of what Spider-Man does in the films action scenes is just hand to hand combat which is fine for one or two different action scene but not for the majority of this films action with the best example of how good this films action could be being the films third act as we get to see how smart Green Goblin is with him trying to get to Spider-Man to lower his defences so that he can kill him only to have Spider-Man use his Spider-Sense and move out the way at the last minuet with the films third act action scene also being a great to showcase alot of Spider-Mans powers in a meaningful way as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while this film isn't the first live action Spider-Man film nor is it the best one interms of live action films as Spider-Man 2 gets that honor this film does get alot of respect for helping to show studio bosses that when there done right comic book movies can be hit films that people will always like in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Disney fandom wiki page , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being the really great Google Images this is because really all of the images that I really got and used from Google Images are all really high quality with all the images that are currently up and on the great Google Images are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
