In The Blood 2014 Film Review

Every actor when there first starting out in Hollywood has to do films that genuinely aren't that good just for the exposer. Well i've found one of those films that is not only not that good but is also one of the first films for many of it's stars and also oddly features what are now some well known faces and so then join me as I review the film that stars Cara Dune , James Witherdale , Fernando Sucre , Gomez Addams and Isador "Machete" Cortez with the film in question being called simply just "In The Blood" enjoy.

The plot of the film  is when a husband goes missing on his honeymoon it's up to his jew wife to find out what happened to him and stop it before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad but that's also the problem as the plot of this film wasn't all that good as it's just your stereotypical direct to DVD low budget action movie plot with nothing new added to it which does work well enough for the films small budget but at the same time it's also something that doesn't really work for the film as a whole as the film does become predictable to watch and as a result of that is thew fact that we end up with a film whose story should have been better and more original but because it wasn't it ends up being something something that we've seen done hundreds times in other films and done better in hundreds of films as well with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining ad as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is The Mandalorian star Gina Carano as Ava Grant and Twilight star Cam Gigandet as Derek Grant. Also starring in this film is Ismael Cruz Córdova as Manny , Wednesday star Luis Guzmán as Chief Ramón Garza , Treat Williams as Robert Grant , Amaury Nolasco as Silvio Lugo , Avatar and Don't Breathe star Stephen Lang as Casey and Machete , From Dusk Till Dawn and Spy Kids star Danny Trejo as Big Biz.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. However much like with the films plot that's also the problem as the acting in this film isn't all that good either with the actors that you expect a good performance from really delivering on the acting side of things but at the same time tho we also get alot of performances that just aren't that good with the best example of this being Ismael Cruz Córdova who really is trying to turn in a good performance but he just can't manage to turn in a good performance in this film and it's the same thing with alot of this films actors as they are quite clearly trying to turn in a really good performance but for one reason or another they all just can't manage to turn in a good performance with the acting in this film not really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so bad as it gives none of the films cast absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there respective characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does affect the overall quality of the acting that's really in this film.

One of the key things that is really needed to make this film work is the relationship between Ava and Derek. Which is something that the film doesn't really get right for the most part as the film doesn't spend alot of time developing their relationship before he disappears and as a result of that is the fact that you don't really buy into their relationship when it's the opposite that should be true as it's their relationship that's key to making this film work as it's their relationship that really does kick of the films plot and yet for some strange reason the makers of this film chose not to put alot of effort into making their relationship alot better then what it is with this not really being helped by the fact that they don't really spend alot of time together other before or after he disappears which does make it hard to buy into their relationship as we don't really get alot of time to see what these two are like together but what little we do get to see of them as a married couple does make them seem like a happy couple that truly do care for each other.

This film does go down the predictable route of having pretty much all of the characters that our main characters interact with be corrupt. Which is a predictable route to go down but at the same time it's also something that works well enough for this film that you do kind of forgive it and at the same time the corrupt characters are at least interesting enough that you do kind of by into the fact that they would act the way that there acting as there doing so not out of loyalty for any one person but because of the fact that there scared of how that person would re-act if they didn't back them up and do what they say to do but at the same time it's such a predictable thing to do that it makes the film come across as being lazy which given it's unique location isn't always the case and yet with the film having several predictable things in it it makes hard not to see all of the cliches that are all over this film which very sadly does include the fact that alot of the characters that are main characters interact with being corrupt is one of them.

To give the film some credit it does have a somewhat unique location that being an island in the Caribbean. Which is a location that hasn't really been used in many action films before now and again to this films credit the film does take as full advantage of it could possibly do with that one island location as we do get to see alot of the island including the bits that you wouldn't normally see in any movie but at the same time because of the fact that we only manage to see a few locations in this movie it does make the location feel alot smaller then what it most likely is in normal life and while this is most likely due to budget reasons it is still something that really does affect the film as we also don't get a good geography of where anyone is at any given time which is something that doesn't start of as an issue early on the film as we're still discovering the island but it's something that does become an issue as the film progresses and while the film makers did the most that they could have done given this films small budget they could have made an effort to make the location feel alot more bigger then what it actually is instead of only just showing us the audience a very few select locations on the island and really nothing more then that.

It's not unusual for a direct to DVD action film to not give us a reason to like most of it's characters and the same thing is true for this film. As even our main heroine does come across as being unlikable at times with her willingly torturing people at times to get the information that she wants out of them but at the same time given that this films budget was really small they most likely didn't have room in the budget to do another re-write of the script to make the characters more likable but the characters that are means to be unlikable like our main villain really do come across as being really unlikable and heck our main villain even has a unique plan with that being that's he's kidnapping people for there bone marrow as he has a very rare form of Cancer which he's curing by draining people of there bone marrow which is a very unique plan and to the films credit it goes as far as they possibly could do with that plan but at the same time tho the plan really isn't that good as it's due to the nature of the plan he would then have several dozen people all of whom aren't in his gang and all of whom know what he's done and would most likely be willing to sell him out to the police to get some reward money out of them which is something that does make the films villain come across as being a tad bit on the dumb side of things as that is something that really should have been thought of.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and forty seven minuets and forty seconds. Which is a tad bit on the long side for this type of film to last as the film really doesn't have alot there interms of plot to really cover that large amount of running time and as a result of that is the fact that for a large portion of the films running thine the film really does feel like that it's on repeat mode alot of the time with Gina's character getting arrested and then she escapes the police in some violent twice in a row which might not seem like much but given that the film doesn't have that long of a running time there really was no need to the film to hit home the same point as just having her escape from the police the once would hit home that she really can handle herself in a fight with the film not really being helped by the fact that the film does have alot of flashback scenes that really do feel like there filler scenes as they add absolutely nothing to the actual plot of the film but I will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With this films action scenes being where it's main star Gina Carano really does shine which given her MMA background really does make sense as she more then holds her own in all of this films action scenes and while the action in this film doesn't really do anything all that exciting as all it boils down to is who can shoot who first when the film does allow Gina to be the bada*s that she really is then that's where the action in this film gets to be really exciting and while she doesn't get to do anything all that cool that kind of the point as this films action is grounded in reality and we do get to see her have alot of really intense action scenes that look really good in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall for a film that was the second film that Gina Carano did after Haywire she comes out of this film looking an action star it's just a shame that the film itself really isn't all that good as it's forgettable at it's worst and really just downright predictable at it's best all of which make this film a really generic direct to DVD action film and really nothing all the more then that in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Amazon . Co . Uk , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being the really great Google Images this is because really all of the images that I really got and really used from Google Images are all really high quality with all the images that really are currently up and on the really great Google Images are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
