Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga Film SPOILER FILLED Film Review
The Mad Max saga is one that for a long period of time was dead and buried that was until 2015's Mad Max Fury Road proved that there was still live in this franchise yet. Well now the franchise has returned yet again after an almost ten year absence with this film really being one of the very few films that people were actually looking forward to seeing at the cinemas and well you all just knew that I had to see to this film the very first chance that I got and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED review of the film that really gives a beloved character from Mad Max Fury Road her backstory with the film in question being called simply just "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga" enjoy.
The plot of this film is when she is taken from her mother Furiosa plots to find her way back to her homeland. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty i in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really new and different as while the plot of the film is something that we already know the ending of thanks to the events of Fury Road what makes this films plot interesting and in alot of ways also really tragic is seeing how the character of Furiosa got to the point that we see her at in Fury Road with the plot of this film telling a more detailed version of her origin that we got in the comic books from about nine years ago which was fun to see play out on screen with the plot of the film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Starring in this film is Anya Taylor-Joy as Furiosa , Chris Hemsworth as Dementus and Tom Burke as Praetorian Jack. Also starring in this film is Lachy Hulme as Immortan Joe and Rizzdale Pell , Nathan Jones as Rictus Erectus , Josh Helman as Scrotus , John Howard as The People Eater , Mortal Kombat star Angus Sampson as The Organic Mechanic , Charlee Fraser as Mary Jo Bassa and Alyla Browne as Young Furiosa.
Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. Which given that this film is co-written , produced and directed by George Miller and the fact that this films cast are mostly a bunch of really good actors isn't really all that surprising as this films co-writer , producer and director knows how to get a good performance out of his cast and his cast knows how to turn in a good performance with some of these actors returning to reprise there roles from Fury Road and really would there for know how best to portray there characters in any given situation with the acting in this film really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good that all this films cast have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does hep to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this film.
Doing the CGI for this film is Double Negative and the legends and the greats that are currently over at Framestore. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented t us in this very film was in all honesty really good with the film having alot of really good CGI effects in them and while yes there are a few very dodgy looking CGI effects in this film as well those are very few and far between with the film containing alot more good CGI in it then it does have bad CGI with the bad ones being somewhat helped by the fact that alot of them are blended together with practical effects which does hide those bad effects alot of the time but they also do call attention to the fact that what were seeing is a bad CGI effect and while the effects in this film won't be as timeless as the effects in Fury Road for now at least the effects in this film look really good.
SPOILERS START HERE!!!!!!!!!!
In what isn't a shocking move this film ends the night before Mad Max Fury Road begins with the ending shot of this film showing how Furiosa got the wives on to the The War Rig in the first place. This is a smart move as people who saw Fury Road and are seeing movie aren't going to be shocked by the situations that Furiosa gets herself into as they know that she's going to make it out alive and by ending the movie right before when the last Mad Max movie begins makes alot of sense as it does also answer both how and when she got the wives on the war rig in the first place and where this film doesn't rightfully give the wives alot of scenes in this film they don't really need to as there not that important characters in either film and what was a truly surprising was the fact that this film really doesn't set up alot of things that are payed off in the last movie which they very easily could have done and yet by not going that there able to make this movie really stand on it's own whilst also giving people enough fan service to make any potential newcomers to the franchise want to go and possibly check out Fury Road as well.
It was rumoured that Max himself would cameo in the movie with that rumour being true as in this film he is played by Tom Hardy's stuntman Jacob Tomuri. With his cameo being what can best be described as a pointless cameo as all it is is a quick shot of him next to his car and that's it he's doing nothing nothing of note he's just standing there next to his car for a quick shot in the film which was most likely added to remind people that this is still the world of Mad Max and nothing more then that which is a really pointless use of the character as you very easily could have had his cameo come at the end of the movie where we see him getting out of his car and walking up to the bit on the cliff from the start of the previous movie and that would have been a great way to tie the films together and yet by having him just doing nothing it makes it feel like that he was just to remind people that this is still that same world and not because he adds nothing to the plot of the film and while yes it would have been better if the character wasn't included at all as there's no way to include him in this film in any meaningful way what we got with the character was still a bad way to include him in the film.
To be frank while Dementus is a good villain in this film he's not as good of a villain as Immortan Joe was. As while Dementus is the more entertaining of the two villains you don't look for a villain to be entertaining as you also want a films villain to be threatening as well and that's exactly what Immortan Joe was as while he wasn't the most entertaining villain he was the more threatening of the two characters as he at the very least had a clear end goal in mind and we got to see the lengths that he was willing to go to to reach those goals where as with Dementus while he is the more entertaining of the two villains with him having alot of dark humor he's not that very threatening as he has no end goal in mind and as a result of that is the fact that we the audience don't have the chance to find out what lengths he's willing to go to reach his end goal as his end goal isn't really made all that clear in the first place and as a result of that is that just really comes across as being evil or the sake of being evil which doesn't make for an interesting characters and as result of that is the fact that it makes the really truly awsome Furiosa look weaker as hero character because of it.
Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time time of exactly two hours and seventeen minuets and thirty seven seconds. Which is a running time that you wouldn't think would work well enough for this film and yet somehow it oddly works with the film making the absolute most of it's truly epic running time by telling Furiosa's story not in one go but in chapters which was the best way that they could have told this story with this being helped by the fact that this film really does gave alot there interms of plot to really cover that large amount of running time and even with that large amount of running time none of the films scenes feel unneeded as alot of them add either to Furiosa as a character and to her characters journey or they add to the overall plot of the film all of which make both Furiosa even more awsome of a character then what she already was anyway and it makes the plot of the film feel oddly more epic then what it really needed to be but I will admit that this film does have some really good pacing to it tho.
So now then as this is an action film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. However at the same time tho the action in this film wasn't as good as the action that we got in Fury Road as the action in that film was truly breathtaking to look at and while the action in this film does show some of that it's not not as often as you'd want it to be from this film and from this director and that does make the action in this film feel oddly tame this is despite the fact that we get alot of gory moments and yet it's just not as crazy as you'd really want it to be but at the same time tho when we do get some really good action in this film you really do notice it as it is something that truly does stands out and reminds of just how really good action films could really be in the first place in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
SPOILERS END HERE!!!!!!!!!!
Overall while this is a really good that still mostly falls into the same pitfalls that all prequels that feature characters from the original film fall into here tho those pitfalls that really aren't as bothersome as they are in other films as the film is just that good of a film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.
Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official mad Max fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being the really great the official Mad Max fandom wiki page this is because really all of the images that I really got and used from the official Mad Max fandom wiki page are all really high quality with all the images that are currently up and on the great the official Mad Max fandom wiki page are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
