The Lego Batman Movie Film Review

Batman has appeared in dozens of animated films over the years but only two of them have been given a theatrical release. Which is odd as Batman animated films really have usually been a hit at the box office and yet for some strange reason it took Warner Bros. Pictures until 2017 to release a really fully animated Batman film in theaters for long period of time and even then that film is technically apart of the The Lego Movie Cinematic Universe and so then join me as I review the only Lego Batman film to be given a theatrical release with the film in question being called simply just "The Lego Batman Movie" enjoy.

The plot of the film is The Joker plots to destroy Gotham once and for all with the help of other villains and it's up to Batman , Alfred , Robin and Batgirl to stop him before it's far to late. Now the  interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot thats actually featured / resented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good as it's just as fun of a plot as you'd want from a lego Batman film and yet at the same time due to it's themes it's also alot more really mature then alot of the live action cinematic Batman films as well with the plot of this film being something that's really fresh and different as we've never really seen this kind of plot not only in a Batman film before but also in any comic book movie before now with the of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Will Arnett as Bruce Wayne / Batman , Zach Galifianakis as The Joker and Michael Cera as Dick Grayson / Robin. Also starring in this film is Rosario Dawson as Barbara Gordon / Batgirl , Ralph Fiennes as Alfred Pennyworth , Jenny Slate as Harley Quinn , Héctor Elizondo as James Gordon , Ellie Kemper as Phyllis , Mariah Carey as Mayor McCaskill , Lauren White as Chief O'Hara , Todd Hansen as Captain Dale , this films director Chris McKay as Pilot Bill , Channing Tatum as Clark Kent / Kal-El / Superman , Jonah Hill as Hal Jordan / Green Lantern , Adam DeVine as Barty Allen / The Flash , Billy Dee Williams as Harvey Dent /  Two-Face , Riki Lindhome as Poison Ivy and The Wicked Witch Of The West , Conan O'Brien as The Riddler , Jason Mantzoukas as The Scarecrow , Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman , Matt Villa as Killer Croc , Kate Micucci as Clayface , Doug Benson as Bane , David Burrows as Mr. Freeze and An Anchorman , Laura Kightlinger as Orca , A Reporter and Medusa , Jemaine Clement as Sauron's Eye Of Sauron , Eddie Izzard as Lord Voldemort , Seth Green as King Kong and The Swamp Creature and Nicholas Briggs as The Daleks.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting thats actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With all f this films cast members turning in some really good performances which really isn't all that surprising as alot of this films actors are a bunch of really good voice actors with some of them either reprising their roles from the other Lego movies or from other media and would there for know what kind of performance would best fit there characters in any given scene with the films newer cast members also more then holding there own when it comes to acting against the films returning cast members as well with the acting in this film really being helped by the fact that the script for this film is just so good that all this films cast have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally as that's just how good both the acting and the script for this film really is even if actors like Eddie Izzard really are horribly miscast in the role as Lord Voldemort.

Doing the animation for this film is the legends and the greats that really are currently over at Animal Logic. Now the interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought  felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with there being a great amount of attention to detail which is something that these theatrically released Lego movies always have as everything is made out of Lego including the water and fire which is such a small thing to include and yet it was included in this film with it being hard to tell if this film was CGI and stop motion at times which was also true for the The Lego Movie as well and yet it's something that's taken to the next level here due to the inclusion of water and fire which does give away the fact that this film is CGI animated is still something that looks just so good even all of these years later.

The key theme of this film is relationships especially the relationships that Batman has with several key characters. With his relationship with The Joker getting alot of focus in the films plot which does make sense as it's something that we've not really seen before now and if they film did focus on Batman's relationship between Alfred , Dick Grayson and Barbera then it would be treading on old group and yet by focusing of his relationship with The Joker it gives the chance to see what both characters think of each which is something that really does work within the confides of the film with this even tieing into The Joker's relationship with the other Batman villains as well where as Batman struggles to except others as family The Joker does it willingly which is interesting as normally both characters wouldn't do that and yet because of the fact that the film is doing something new it now gives The Joker just as much attention as it does Batman which is something that really does help the film out in the long run and it's something makes this film stand out in the vast sea of other and in most cases better animated Batman films.

One of the things that this film gets wrong is the fact it doesn't really fully develop any of it's characters. Be they side characters or main characters with alot of them coming across as being very note characters with this not really being an issue for Batman as he was already established in The Lego Movie but it's not something that works in this film as alot of the characters are introduced in this film and yet not that many of them come across as being fully developed as not alot of them are given much in the way of personality and nor are some of the key side characters like Harley Quinn for example given alot to do either as lot of them just show up for one or two scenes and that's really it but at the same time tho when they do show up they help add to the plot of the film however alot of the characters really could have helped with having there backstory explained to us the audience as that would give them alot of character development like for explain why is Barbera Gordon this hard nosed by the books kind of cop when her dad wouldn't have raised her that way as she would have seen the positive impact that Batman was having in Gotham when she was growing up and why is Dick Grayson so naive when he's seen how dark the world can be to people like him all of these and more could have been explained if they were given some form of character development.

To give the film credit it does work wonderfully as a comedy as it doesn't really pull as many punches as it could have done given that this film is firmly a kids animated comedy film. As we do get alot of painfully jokes in this film like the fact that all of the guards for no reason are just making gun noises whenever there's fairing there guns and the fact that all Catwoman mostly says is meow those are just some painfully jokes that while yes they could be seen as being childish but given that this is the world of The Lego Movie there jokes that oddly work for this film as is the fact that they film just straight up mentions alot of the big screen and small screen adaptations of Batman in this film and there done not in a way that mocks those adaptations but in a way that feels like the makers of this film both love and respect the character and there both really funny with the characters that get alot of laughs in this film being either Batman or the villains with Batman having more of a dark sense of humor and the villains having more of a slapstick type of sense of humor as well both of which are things that work really well for this film and while the villain jokes aren't that memorable they are still some really good and really funny jokes in this film.

Now then while I cannot for the absolutely life of me remember this films running tie even was I do know that this film has / had an exact grand total running time of roughly one hour and forty four minuets and thirty seconds. Which is both the perfect running time for this film and at the exact same time a slightly longer running time for this film to have as well as while the film does have more then there interms of plot to really cover that large of amount of plot tom really cover that large amount of running time its also on the longer side of things as when you think of an animated Batman film you don't think of a film that's almost two hours long and as a result of that this film really could have done with being trimmed down to about a solid one hour and thirty minuets as that's roughly the running time that you'd really expect a film like this one to have but on the flip side of that by doing that it would also mean that the films plot points would also really feel alot more rushed and not as organic as they do in this cut of the film but I will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / resented to us in this very film well then in all honesty i in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With the film really taking full advantage of the fact that it's an animated film by having the characters do things that they couldn't possibly do in the realm of live action with the help of CGI and as a result of that is the fact that the action in this film is alot more fun then what it really had to be with the action in this film doing a good job of showing us just how good of a fighter that not only Batman but also the other members of the Batfamily are and how they could be useful in a fight something which does come into play in the films truly epic third act and as a result of that s the fact that we get some really good storytelling those action scenes and as well as some really fun and really over the top action scenes in this film as well which makes the action in this film really alot more fun then what it really had any right to be and what it really should have been as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this is not only a really good family friendly Batman film but it's also a really good family friendly animated Batman film as well with this film giving us all f the things that we expect to see in a batman film but also giving us alot of things that we really didn't know that we wanted to see in a Batman film as well all of which make this film alot better then what it really had any to be in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out f 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got al of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official DC Movies fandom wiki page , the official Batman fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being the official DC Movies fandom wiki page this is because really all of the images that I really got and used from the official DC Movies fandom wiki page are all really high quality with all the images that are currently up and on the great the official DC movies fandom wiki page are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
