Star Wars: A New Hope Film Review

We are almost two weeks out from May 4th which means that we are almost two weeks out from Star Wars. With this in mind and as there will most likely be something coming up with Tales Of The Empire that day it made sense that I talk about the film that started it all as without this film there would be no Star Wars day to speak and there would be no Star Wars franchise to speak of whatsoever and so then join me as I review the film that started the entire Star Wars franchise with the film in question being called simply just "Star Wars: A New Hope" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when a princess is kidnapped for stealing the plans for a deadly space station it's up a farmer and a smuggler to capture and to make sure that the rebel allegiance survives before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot thats actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with the plot of this film being simple but delightfully so as it's in this simple plot that the films plot can have alot of charm to it and not be bogged down to much by lore and yet at the same time while the films plot has been copied over and over again it's due to the fact that this films plot is timeless as when you get down to it the plot of the film is about some heroes just really trying to do some right with the plot of the film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker , Harrison Ford as Han Solo and Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia Organa. Also starring in this film is Peter Cushing as Grand Moff Tarkin , Alec Guinness as Ben Kenobi , Anthony Daniels as C-3PO , Kenny Baker as R2-D2 , Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca , David Prowse as Darth Vader , James Earl Jones as The Voice Of Darth Vader , Jack Purvis as Chief Jawa , Eddie Byrne as General Willard , Phil Brown as Uncle Owen
Shelagh Fraser as Aunt Beru , Alex McCrindle as General Dodonna , Drewe Hemley as Red Leader , Dennis Lawson as Wedge Antilles , Garrick Hagon as Biggs , William Hootkins as Porkins and Don Henderson as General Taggi.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With all of this films cast turning in some really good performances which really isn't all that surprising as alot of this films cast are a bunch of really good actors all of whom really do know how to turn in a really good performance and while it's been shown in various behind the scenes the videos that George Lucas really doesn't know how to direct his cast with him giving the very vague instructions on how to act in certain scenes it's a testament to there talents that despite all of that they really do manage to turn in a good performance in this film with the acting in this film really being helped by the fact that the script for this film being so good that all the cast really have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performances will come out of them naturally.

Doing the CGI for this film is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Industrial Light & Magic. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good as the effects more then hold up all of these years later but with that said tho the effects that were added for this 2011 special edition just weren't needed and were really very distracting not because they were bad effects because but rather because they weren't needed and were there just to please little kids which does make sense as this is a kids film but at the same time you also don't want anything that's distracting in the film either with those added effects being something that wouldn't have been better of if they weren't in the film at all even if they make the original effects look ten times better then what they really already really are in comparison.

For some reason the film features Jabba The Hutt which while it does make sense to include him in this film. The effect for him just doesn't look finished which again does make sense as the effect was done cheaply but at the same time given that the effect was being done by the same time that did the effects for the original film there should have been some effort to make him look good and yet there quite clearly wasn't with this film technically being the first time that we see the character and even with that in mind he adds nothing to the plot of the film nor does he add anything to the scene that he's in as he just has a chat with Han where the exact same information that we got from the previous scene is given out which make his scene in this film feel pointless and was only in there just for fan service with the character at the very least getting better treatment then Boba Fett who only appears in a few scenes and have no lines of dialog and that's really it and as a result these two characters who are both quite well known really do feel like that there just because George Lucas could add them there and not because they had anything to do with the plot of the film.

To this films credit it does have some of the best model effects in alot of modern American science fiction film history. With all of the model effects in this film looking really good not just because there practical effects and those will always look better then CGI effects ever will but because of the fact that they make the world of Star Wars feel alot more lived in and alot more real as the models are made to look dirty and grimy in other words there made to look real which has the add of effect of making the film itself look more dirty , grimy and lived in as well with this being something that alot of modern films are missing and it;s something that you can really only do with practical models as it allows you to get into the small detail that would most often by overlooked in other films and yet here it's something that adds to the films world as it makes the films feel alot more real then what it really would have done and it's that small attention to detail that really does make the model shots in this film some of the best model effects shots in alot of American science fiction films.

It does go without saying that Darth Vader is a great villain with that being true for how the character was handled in this film. AS in this film he is presented as someone who is just pure unstoppable as no matter what it is that our heroes can do to him he will just shake it off and keep on coming at them and it's that kind of idea that kind of thinking that helps to make him a truly creepy villain as it says that no matter that what it is that you do to him he not going to stop coming at you with the only thing that lets the villain is the fact that he's pretty much treated like someone who doesn't know what he's doing which really shouldn't be the case as everybody on the Death Star should be afraid of just what it is that he could to them should they make him angry and unlike Kylo Ren Darth Vader doesn't get upset every single time that he doesn't get his way he instead acts smart even to the point where he lets the heroes get away just so he can get the bigger fish in which in this case is the rebel allegiance home base which does go to show you just how smart of a villain that he really is as that's something that not alot of villains would do and yet it's something that he does do.

Now then while I cannot for the absolutely life of remember whatever this films grand total running even was I do know that for a fact that this film has / had a rough grand total running tie of exactly two hours and four minuets. Which is pretty much the bogstanderd running for the original trilogy of Star Wars and to this films credit it really does have more then enough there interms of plot to really cover that large amount of running time with there being not really any filler scenes apart from the stuff with Jabba The Hutt and Boba Fett as alot of the scenes that are in this very film are used to advance the characters at a more organic pace and make the characters feel as fleshed out as they possibly could have done and to advance the overall plot of the film as well and while yes it would have been nicer if the film had a slightly longer running time just so that we could spend a little bit more time in this film it would have the knock on effect of stretching the films fairly thinly drawn out plot even thinner but I will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty for the most part. As while we do have alot of really good action scenes with the trench run sequence being a very good example there is one action scene that does bring it down and that's the fight between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader and while it does make sense that there moving alot more slower paced as interms of the film these are two old men and as such they would have of course be alot more smart about there movements but that doesn't make it an exciting fight scene as all it does is make the action scene itself look pretty bad as these characters who interms of the story havn't seen each other for decades and the last time they did see each other Obi-Wan was leaving Vader to burn and as a result of that is the fact that Vader should be going all out on Obi-Wan due to the years of built up anger and frustration in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film is still even all pf these many years later still such a good film and is a good example of just how good this franchise could be when it's at it's best best where The Empire Strikes Back is a good example of how just good this franchise could be when it's better then it's best as that film built upon everything that was good and great that was all in this very film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the mages that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the mages that I personally used in this very review from the official Star Wars fandom wiki page , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being the official Star Wars fandom wiki page this is because really all of the images that I really got and used from the official Star Wars fandom wiki page are all really high quality with all the images that are currently up and on the great the official Star Wars fandom wiki page are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
