Hannah Montana: The Movie Film Review
TV shows getting turned into a movies is a tale that's as old as time as it's something that happens quite frequently. With even Disney getting in on that action once or twice with the film that i'm going to be talking about today being an adaptation of what is undeniably there most popular live action sitcom since Disney Channel first started in the nineteen eighties and so then join me as I review the film that really should have been the shows series finale with the film in question being called simply just "Hannah Montana: The Movie" enjoy.
The plot of this film is when life as Hannah changes who Miley is on the inside her father forces her to spend two weeks in her hometown for her Grandmother's birthday where Miley must find a way to rise money to stop a land developer from taking over more land and stop a journalist from finding out her secret. Now then interms f what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad for the most part as the plot of the film feels like the plot of an extended episode of the show with the plot of the film not really doing anything all that new or even interesting for that matter with the plot as the plot is something that isn't big enough to the the plot of a film with the plot of the film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Starring in this film is Miley Cyrus as Miley Stewart / Hannah Montana and Emily Osment as Lilly Truscott. Also starring in this film is Jason Earles as Jackson Stewart , Billy Ray Cyrus as Robby Ray Stewart , Moisés Arias as Rico Suave , Mitchel Musso as Oliver Oken , Lucas Till as Travis Brody , Vanessa Williams as Vita , Margo Martindale as Grandma Ruby , Peter Gunn as Oswald Granger , Rachel Woods as Phoebe Granger , Stranger Things star Natalia Dyer as Clarissa Granger , Jared Carter as Derrick , Melora Hardin as Lorelai , Barry Bostwick as Mr. Bradley , Beau Billingslea as The Mayor Of Crowley Corners , Emily Grace Reaves as Cindy Lou , Jane Carr as Lucinda and Taylor Swift as Herself.
Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. As alot of this films main cast are reprising their roles from the show and as a result from that is the fact that it does make sense that they would turn in some really good performances in this film as they've been playing there respective characters for a few years at this point and would therefor know how best to perform there character in any given situation and while the alot of the new cast do also turn in some really good performances as well alot of them just turn in some really bland and wooden performances as well with the acting in this film not really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so bad as it gives none of the cast nothing to work with interms of what it is that there respective characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place.
This film does feel more like a finale to the TV show with the film even doing something that would have meant all the more if it was done in the series finale of the TV show as well. That being the fact that Miley tells a whole concert full of people her secret that she is Hannah Montana this is something that is key to the show and while it does make sense to have it be included in the movie as it gives people a reason to watch the movie but at the same time as it's such a key aspect of the show it's really something that should have been in the series finale of the show as that's what the whole show has been built around and there for it would make more sense to have it happen in the show even more so when you take into account that it's not something that's really needed in the movie as the movie really would still play out the exact same way even if they chose not to reveal that big secret in this film and as a result of that is the fact that it feels like it was really tacked on just for the sake of including it in the film.
For some reason the makers of this film chose to make the main love interest for Miley seem really unlikable. As he gets upset at her for not telling him her biggest secret even tho she's only known him for about two or three days with this not being helped by the fact that he has about as much charm and personality as a plank of wood the whole point of giving someone a love interest is to give the main character someone to connect with but you still need to make him a likable character as us the audience still have to have to like and still want Miley and him to get together at the end and yet for some reason the makers of this film chose to make him a really bland and boring character who doesn't even act shocked when he does eventually find out her secret which wouldn't be a problem if he was a side character and that big reveal wasn't as big of a plot point but it's a key plot point in the movie and he's a main character and as a result more of an effort should have been made to have the love interest character actually act shocked when he does find out her big secret.
On the flip side of that is the relationship between Robby and Lorelai with Lorelai herself being a more likable character. With both characters actually having romantic relationship with each other when compared to Miley and Travis Brody who just felt like that they met each other the day before they started filming in this film with the relationship between Robby and Lorelai being a good example of how to do a good romance subplot as both characters really do compliment each other with them both offering things that the other doesn't have and even tho they do end up together by the end of the movie when it came to the show they never brought back either Lorelei and Travis Brody which just makes both romances feel pointless as it gives us the audience now no reason to get fully invested n their relationships as neither of them get followed up on on the show which makes you wonder why they bothered to include them in this film at all.
As a film that is somewhat of a musical the film does have some good songs in it with the songs in this film being new songs by different artists. With alot of this films songs being fun and poppy songs all of which are songs that you'd expect to hear in a typical Disney Channel movies which does make them oddly fitting for this film as well and alot of the films songs are also some really catchy songs with alot of them also adding to the characters are personal character arcs as well with the best example of this being the song "Butterfly Fly Away" which touches on the father daughter relationship between not only Robby and Miley but also Miley and Billy Ray as well with the song also healing there relationship in the film as well but the best song in the whole entire film is the song "The Climb" as it's message is just so good as the message of the song is basically based around the old saying it's not about the destination it's about the journey which is something that echoed in that song with the song itself also being really well sung sung as well as being really well written as well.
Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and forty two minuets and twenty seconds. Which is a bit on the long side for what this type of film really should have been as even tho the film really doesn't have alot of plot there to cover that large amount of running time anyway and as a result the film really should have been around one hour and thirty minuets at a stretch but even then that's with alot of the filler scenes that we get in this current cut of the film as yes there are alot of scenes in this film that really didn't need to be there as they add nothing to the over all plot of the film like for example we really didn't need the montage with Miley and Travis Brody as we already know that there falling for each other and we didn't need alot of the scenes with Lucinda as there just not that funny alot of the time but I will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.
So now then as this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With alot of this films jokes being the kind of jokes that you'd expect to hear in a Disney Channel TV show which both works for and against the film it works for the film as the jokes in this film are the types of jokes that we did get in the show but at the same time this is the film and yet they just do the same old types of jokes that we've seen done better in other films and when they do him here alot of the tie they lack the charm that made them standout in the first place but both Miley and Jason Earles do have some really good facial expressions which make alot of there bad jokes seem somewhat more funnier then what they really should have been in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Overall this film really should have been the shows series finale as everything about this film just screams final ever episode and yet for some reason this film was made and released in the middle of the shows run and while this is indeed a decent film it's one that could've been so much more better then what it actually was in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good ad as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6 out of 10 from me.
Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Disney fandom wiki page , the official Hannah Montana fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being the great and the really truly legendary Google Images this is because alot of not all of the images that I really got for this review and that are still of course currently up and really are on the really great and legendary Google Images with them all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
