Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire Film SPOILER FILLED Film Review

For a long time after 2016 the Ghostbusters franchise was good as well dead and buried and yet Ghostbusters: Afterlife came along and proved that there was still in life in this franchise yet. Well now the long awaited sequel is here and well you all just knew that I had to check to this film the very first chance that I got and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED review of the film that sees the new generation of Ghostbusters move into an iconic building in New York City with the film in question being called simply just "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when The Spengler Family move into the old Ghostbusters fire house they and the original Ghostbusters have to stop a new evil ghost who wants to plunge the world into a new ice age. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad altho that's sadly also the problem as the plot of this film isn't all that particularly good either as it's a plot that's really rather on the weak side of things with it being hard to tell what the actual plot of the film is even meant to be quite alot of the time as the plot of this film just comes and goes when it pleases as it's really just that weak of a plot but the plot of this film is also really rather entertaining and as well as being really engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Carrie Coon as Callie Spengler , Finn Wolfhard as Trevor Spengler and Mckenna Grace as Phoebe Spengler. Also starring in this film is Ant-Man And The Wasp Quantumania star Paul Rudd as Gary Grooberson , Celeste O'Connor as Lucky Domingo , Logan Kim as Podcast , Kumail Nanjiani as Nadeem Razmaadi , Patton Oswalt as Dr. Hubert Wartzki , James Acaster as Lars Pinfield , Emily Alyn Lind as Melody , Bill Murray as Dr. Peter Venkman , Dan Aykroyd as Dr. Raymond "Ray" Stantz , Ernie Hudson as Dr. Winston Zeddemore , Annie Potts as Janine Melnitz and William Atherton as Mayor Walter Peck.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With all of the actors that you expect a good performance really delivering on that front with the acting from all of the returning be they returning from the original film or just returning from the last film they all slip back into there characters perfectly with Bill Murray just falling back into the role of Dr. Peter Venkman in his first scene in the film but what lets the quality of the acting down by quite a bit is the fact that the films newer actors don't turn in that good of a performance at least when it comes to acting opposite the returning actors with the acting in this film really being helped by the fact that the films script is just so good that all this films cast have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally.

Doing the CGI for this film is the legends and the really greats that are currently over at Double Negative. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually  featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With the film making great use of both CGI and practical effects with this films CGI being alot better then what it had any right to be and alot of that does come down to the fact that the film has a larger budget then Ghostbusters: Afterlife but with that being said the CGI in the previous film looks alot better then the CGI in this film as the effects in the previous film look like that they could have been from the original film and thus had a certain charm to them where in this film despite the quality of the effects being really good they don't look like that they belong in the world of the original Ghostbusters films as they look a bit to polished and a bit to good where as the CGI in the previous films didn't really have that issue at all.

SPOILERS START HERE!!!!!!!!!!

Just like with the past film we do get some character returning from the first film most notably is of course William Atherton as Mayor Walter Peck. However we also get the return of the franchises mascot Slimer with both characters not really going all that much in this film but at te same time tho it's still good to see them again and heck Peck and Venkman once again get to share the screen together and we get to see some of there comedy that made there scenes together in the first film feel like such a highlight of that first film but at the same time tho these films really do need to stop with the call backs to the first film as there will become a point where the franchise won't be able to stand on it's own without characters from the previous films showing up and while it will always be good to see these characters in order for the franchise to move forward we have to see how these new characters do without the help of the original characters even if it's just for one movie as that is something that will prove if the franchise has legs without these legacy characters coming on for a quick cameo or two in the film.

For some reason the film make Phoebe the main character again which doesn't make sense as Ghostbusters in an ensemble franchise. That has no one main character and yet for some reason this film makes her the main character with the rest of the characters being relegated to side characters this was fine for the previous film as the previous film was all about her relationship with her Egon but here the film doesn't have that to lean on and as a result it's pointless to make her the main character of the film especially when the other characters could have made for better main characters like Trevor for example as his character wasn't fairly well developed in the previous film and if they did make him the main character of this film then we could see who his mentor could be like how Egon is essentially Phoebe's mentor maybe due to there similar personalities Peter could be Trevor's mentor and it would be interesting to see Trevor's relationship with Egon as that was something that was never touched upon in the previous film either.

Thankfully we have a new villain with Garraka and while he's not as threatening as Zuul was Garraka is still a new villain that has alot of potential. With the fact that they didn't just use either a villain from the The Real Ghostbusters of even Ghostbusters 2 does go to show that the makers of this film do know how to create a new villain and while this films villain isn't as clearly defined as Zuul was he is a villain that has all of the potential to be a good villain with his design being really creepy as he's a tall villain with blue eyes and has something stuck out of either side of his head which does make hi look like a creepy villain but at the same time tho this films villain isn't as memorable as some of the others films villains were and while he does have a very unique scheme as it's scheme that really hasn't been done since oddly enough Batman & Robin it's still something that doesn't really work for the Ghostbusters world as it;s just not epic to be scheme for one of their main villains.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running tie of exactly one hour and forty eight minuets and thirty four seconds. Which is a solid running time for this film to have but at the same time tho it is one one of the shorter running times for a Ghostbusters film and it really does show as this film really does feel like there that are key scenes missing from this film as things just don't flow as good as they did in the previous this is despite the fact that the film has more then enough plot there to really cover that large amount of running time all of which makes you wonder if the makers of the film were forced to cut the film down to under two hours so that the studio could fit in more screenings which if that is the case is something that does harm the film as the film now has plot points that come out of nowhere and aren't really built up all that well but I will admit tho that this film really does gave some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us n this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. As this film does have some decent jokes in it but at the same time tho the jokes in this film clearly aren't as good as the jokes in the previous film and while Bill Murray is on top form with his sarcastic sense of humor in this film it's not as biting as it once was weather this due to the writers or due to the actors age is hard to tell but it something that does let the comedy film in this film down quite alot but at the same time tho when this film does indeed tell a good joke you really do know it it's just that you have to sit through alot of bad jokes to get to the one or two decent jokes in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

SPOILERS END HERE!!!!!!!!!!

Overall this film isn't as good as Ghostbusters: Afterlife as that film felt like it was made for all the right reasons where as for this film despite having the exact same creative team as the previous film it really did felt like that it was made just so that the studio could make some more money out of this franchise and that's really it in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Ghostbusters fandom wiki page , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being the really great the official Ghostbusters fandom wiki page this is because all of the images that I got for this review and that are still and of course currently up and really are on the really great the official Ghostbusters fandom wiki page with them all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
