Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny Film Review

To say that 2023 was bad year for Disney would be a huge understatement as alot of there films flopped and flopped hard. However none of there films were more disappointing then the film that i'm about to review for you all today as this film also serves as a tragic end to a great action and adventure franchise and a great action hero on top of that and so then join me as I review the film that sees a great hero go out on a whimper and not a bang with the film in question being called simply just "Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is Indiana Jones ha to team up with his goddaughter and her friend in order to stop a former Nazi from finding a mythical dial that gives the user the ability to travel anywhere in time. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty i in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad but at the same time this films plot wasn't all that good either as it's quite clearly not the best plot that this franchise has had but it's also not as bad as it could have been as it does try to hearken back the style of storytelling from Raiders Of The Lost Ark but it just can't do it as the plot is just so badly handled with the films plot not really being all that entertaining nor is it all that engaging either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Harrison Ford as Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones, Jr. and Phoebe Waller-Bridge as Helena Shaw. Also starring in this film is Mads Mikkelsen as Jürgen Voller , Antonio Banderas as Renaldo , Ethann Isidore as Teddy Kumar , Boyd Holbrook as Klaber , Toby Jones as Basil Shaw , Shaunette Renée Wilson as Agent Mason , Thomas Kretschmann as Colonel Weber , Olivier Richters as Hauke , Mark Killeen as Pontimus , Nasser Memarzia as Archimedes , Martin McDougall as Durkin , Alaa Safi as Aziz Rahim , Anna Francolini as Mandy , John Rhys-Davies as Sallah and Karen Allen as Marion Ravenwood.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. Altho that's also the problem as this films acting isn't all that good either as even the cast that we know for a fact can deliver a truly great performance like Harrison Ford struggle to make this films script work for them with this not really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so bad as not only does it not give any of the cast anything to work with interms of what there characters personalities even are the films script is just so bad that none of this films cast can turn in a good performance and elevate the material that's given to them in the films script as it really is just that bad of a script that should have been rewritten.

Doing the CGI for this film is Industrial Light & Magic , Virtuos , Yannix , SDFX Studio , Rising Sun Pictures , Soho VFX , Important Looking Pirates , The Yard VFX , Midas VFX , Crafty Apes , Onyx Visual Effects and Capital T. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad for the most part as while we do yes get some fairly dodgy looking CGI effects in this film those don't represent the majority of the CGI effects in this film with the majority of them being really good with the deaging done to make Indiana Jones look young again does look really good with the same thing also being true for alot of the CGI that we get in this film also being really good as well.

One of the many things that really does let this film down quite alot is the fact that this film introduces the element of time travel. Which is just pushing things a bit to far into the absurd with that very idea making the film feel alot more like an episode of Doctor Who when it really should have been alot more like Indiana Jones and heck even George Lucas himself hated the idea of using time travel in an Indiana Jones film as he was quoted as saying back in 2008 "you can't just make something up, like a time machine." now have a guess what they do the very second they get the franchise out of George Lucas's hands they do time travel  the very thing that he didn't want to see in the franchise as it goes against having something supernatural be grounded in realism and that realism becomes lost the second you have something like time travel introduced into the film and it also robs the film of any stakes as now the characters could have just popped back in time in order to correct it.

While the film does try to create a likable character in Helena Shaw the film fails to do that as she's not given any flaws. Which means that as a result of that she just comes across as being a perfect character who has nowhere to go but down this is made even worse when you take into account that it's pretty obvious that should this film had been a hit then she would have been the main character moving forward which makes her character pointless as there's already a character that was set up in the previous film that could have filled that role really well and that's Mutt Williams and while yes he wasn't that likable in his first film there was at least some sort of a personality there to make the character work as the franchise lead and while yes you'd have go the extra mile to make him a likable character it wouldn't be as far as you'd have to go with the Helena Shaw character as the work n Mutt was part way done in his first film and yet you'd have do alot more work in order to make Helena Shaw work as a likable main character.

This film does get some credit for going back to what the franchise knows works best with it's main villains by having Nazi's be the main villains once again. Which is a solid thing as this films main villain is a good and somewhat creepy villain with what really lets the villain down being the fact that his plan is heavily tied into the whole time travel aspect of the film but even if you take that out for a second what makes this films main villain really work is the fact that he's a really type of character that we've never seen before as he's a villain that really hates loosing and that does make him a determined character as we get to see just how far he's willing to go to archive what he thinks is the ultimate victory which is going back in time to kill Hitler and become the leader of the Nazi's and lead them to victory as he would know what would ultimately lead to there eventual downfall.

Now then while I cannot for the absolutely life of me remember whatever this films grand total running time even was I do know that for fact that this film really does have a grand total running tome of roughly two hours and twenty eight minuets. Which for any film is such a long running time to have even more so for an Indiana Jones film as those don't typically last longer then two hours and yet here we have a film that's pushing two hours and thirty minuets and it doesn't really have alot of story there to justify that long of a running time which wouldn't be a bad thing if the film really used that extra time to fully develop it's new characters but it doesn't and as a result of that is the fact that the film has alot of padding that just isn't needed as all it does is really bog the film down with pointless scenes that just aren't needed and really could have been cut out of the film in it's entirety but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action film that means that I have to actually talk abut the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With this film having some really inventive looking action scenes but here's the thing tho as the film uses alot of it's CGI in it's action scenes it's hard to buy into them as alot of the time there's not real people taking part in them which is in stark contrast to the first film where everything was dome for real and because of that it was alot easier to buy into the films action scenes but to this films credit when we do get practical action scenes in this film it is when the film gets to be the most fun and is alot easier to get into as it's real people doing those things for real and that will always look better then action scenes that have a butt load of CGI in them in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film really should have been the film that brought this franchise back to the greatness that the franchise fans know that it can and has reached and yet it ultimately ended being the film that killed it's franchise for good as it really is really just that bad of a film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6 out of 10 from me.

Now then as foe where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Disney fandom wiki page , the official Indiana Jones fandom wiki page and IMP Awards . Com. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being the official Indiana Jones fandom wiki page this is because all of the images that I got for this review and that are still of course currently up and really are on the really great the official Indiana Jones fandom wiki page with them all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
