Aladdin 2019 Film Review

Live action Disney remakes are a thing that alot of us hate and while Disney have been slowing down on them somewhat they are still being made. With alot of them being made already it would be perfectly understandable if we forgot one or two of them were even thing in the first place as is the case with the film that i'm about to review fro you all today and so then join me as I review the film that lets face it alot of us really did forget was even a thing in the first place with the film in question being called simply just "Aladdin" enjoy.

The plot of this film is a young street urchin named Aladdin falls in love with the princess Jasmine and has to content with the evil Jafar. Now the interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with the films plot being a carbon copy of the original films plot which is also the issue as there's no reason to see this film when you can just watch the original film tell this story even better which has the knock of effect of making this film really pointless as the film adds nothing to new to the actual plot of the film but I will admit that the films plot is really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Mena Massoud as Aladdin , Naomi Scott as Jasmine and Marwan Kenzari as Jafar. Also starring in this film is Navid Negahban as The Sultan , Nasim Pedrad as Dalia , Billy Magnussen as Prince Anders , Numan Acar as Hakim , Alan Tudyk as The Voice Of Iago , Frank Welker as The Voice Of Abu , Rajah and The Cave Of Wonders , Robby Haynes as Razoul , Nina Wadia as Zulla and Will Smith as The Genie / The Mariner.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With this films cast turning in some fairly decent performances which just like the plot of this film is also the issue as we know from other films and TV shows that this films cast can turn in alot better performances then the ones that they turn in for this film which is of course no fault of the films but  instead the blame lays at the feet of the director who just couldn't get a good performance out of his cast none of which is helped by the fact that this films script is just so bad as it gives none of the films cast nothing to work with interms of what their respective characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place.

Doing the CGI for this film is Industrial Light & Magic , Hybride Technologies , One Of Us , Important Looking Pirates , Base FX , Virtuos , MagicLab , Technicolor Production Services London and BOT VFX. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as the film really does have some really good CGI in it but at the same time the film has some fairly dodgy looking CGI in it as well and while those bad CGI effects re in the minority there enough to take you out of the film with the films bad CGI effects looking like that they belong in a late Playstation 4 video game cut scene.

This film does introduce some new characters with both of them being pointless additions of the overall story. With the new characters being Dalia and Prince Anders altho to be fair Prince Anders is a renamed version of the Prince Achmed as both of those characters fill the exact same role in the story and to be blunt this film really didn't need to create any new characters as they could have pulled in characters from the Aladdin sequels and the Aladdin animated TV series and have them fill out the exact same roles that the new characters in this film fill with the new characters in this film being some very badly written as they just come of as being very one dimensional at best with them only having one character trait and sticking it to it with that one character trait being the dumb one of their friendship group and that's really it.

As a musical this film does fair somewhat better as the film of course has all of the classic songs that were written by Alan Menken , Howard Ashman and Tim Rice with them being joined by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. With the films new song "Speechless" not being that bad of a song as it's song that's fairly well written and is really well sung but that song just can't hold a candle to the original films songs tho with the best song in the whole entire movie being "A Whole New World" that while it's not that badly written is fairly badly sung as the two singers just don't have any chemistry together and Mena Massoud just cannot sing at all which is the tip of the ice berg for this films songs as for some strange reason even tho Will Smith can still sing really well they auto tune him to death in the films version of "Arabian Nights" which is just incredibly distracting as it's a known fact that Will Smith can sing really well and as such there really was no need to use auto tune on him whatsoever as it's just a pointless thing to do.

Jafar is on paper one of the easiest villains to get right as all you have to do is make a cool and intimidating villain and yet this film somehow messed all of that up. As we instead get a character that is just rather flat and boring with him instead coming across as someone who is just trying to hard to scary where as the character in the original film just was scary and threatening and while both characters di share the exact same goal the original films version of Jafar is the better character as he's the more entertaining one to watch whereas the opposite is true for this films version of the character with the Jafar seen in this film not being that good of a character as he's just not that interesting and is a rather forgettable character which really shouldn't the case whatsoever as he's one of the characters that alot of people myself included remember rather fondly from the original film and yet somehow the makers of this film turned a rather cool villain into a boring one.

Now then  this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly two hours and seven minuets and fifty eight seconds. Which is such a long time for this film to have even more so when you take into account that the film is just retelling the original films plot beat for beat and yet the original film managed to tell that exact same story in well under two hours and yet for some reason this film included alot of pointless scenes that add nothing to the overall plot which it really doesn't have to do as the film has more then enough plot to cover a feature length running time as it is and yet for some reason the makers of this film chose to give this film alot of really pointless padding instead of using that extra time to explore it's characters to fully develop any of it's characters either of which would have fully justified it's longer running time but I will admit that this film really does have fairly decent pacing to it tho.

So now then as is this is an action film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. However this films action isn't as good as it really should have been as alot of it just felt really underwhelming especially when compared to similar scenes in the original film however the action in this film when done right can be really exciting to see with the third act chase through Agrabah while being a bit underwhelming is also a really exciting action scene as well with the same thing also being true for alot of this films action as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while this film quite clearly isn't the worst of the liver action Disney remakes as this film can indeed be a really fun film tom watch it's also just as bland and just as soulless as all of the live action Disney remakes out there in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Disney fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being the official Disney fandom wiki page this is because all of the images that I got and that currently up / featured and on the great the official Disney fandom wiki page are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
