Aquaman Film Review

In just a few short days the DC Extended Universe officially comes to an end with the release of Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom and well you all know that I just had to try and find a film to do a tie in review. With there really only being one choice with it being the perfect choice as it reminds us of the potential that the DC Extended Universe could have had if Warner Bros. Pictures didn't panic trying to catch up to Marvel and enforce a two hour running time on alot of their movies and then join me as I review the film is proved that Aquaman can be a cool superhero with the film in question being called simply just "Aquaman" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when his half brother tries to find a mythical trident and use it to try and take over the world it's up to Arthur Curry to stop him before it's far to late. Now then interms of what  personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honest personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with this films plot being alot better then the plots of alot of the other DCEU films as this films plot feels like it was ripped right out of the comics by writers directors and producers that both know about and actually care about the comics and there characters with this films plot also being really rather entertaining and very engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry / Aquaman , Amber Heard as Mera and Willem Dafoe as Vulko. Also starring in this film is Patrick Wilson as King Orm , Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus , Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as David Kane / Black Manta , Ludi Lin as Captain Murk , Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry , Randall Park as Doctor Stephen Shin , Dame Julie Andrews as The Voice Of The Karathen , John Rhys-Davies as The Voice Of The Brine King , Djimon Hounsou as The Voice Of King Ricou , Sophia Forrest as The Voice Of Queen Rina and Princess Scales and Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film, well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. Which given who is directing this film isn't really that much of a surprise as James Wan really does know how to get a good performance out of his cast but what is shocking is the fact that Amber Heard also turns in a rather solid performance in this film and while she's not as good as Jason Momoa she's easily better in this movie then the kind of performances that she's recently been turning in on TV shows and other movies with her acting in this film actually being believable with not only her acting but the whole cats acting really being helped by the fact that this films script is alot better then it really had any right to be and as such all this films cast had to do was just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out them really naturally.

Doing the CGI for this film is Industrial Light & Magic , Base FX , Virtuos , Scanline VFX , Moving Picture Company , Method Studios , Rodeo FX , Wētā FX , Cantina Creative , Digital Domain , Luma Pictures , Prime Focus. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well ten in all honesty i in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with this films CGI really holding up really well which isn't a surprise given what effects companies are working on this film with this films CGI really being alot better then alot of the CGI that Disney have been putting in alot of there products recently as this films CGI is really just that good.

This film unlike alot of the DC Extended Universe films actually has some somewhat decent side characters. As the side characters in this film whilst not memorable are very decently written and do play apart in the films plot in someway shape or form with the best of example being Nicole Kidman's Queen Atlanna who is written to be a strong female character but at the same time she's given flaws that make her feel more real like the fact that she even tho her own country forced her from the man that she loves and the son that she loves she's still a very loyal person who will do anything to help her people even if it means hurting herself in the process this is a prime of example of how to write a female character as she's given flaws something which alot of female characters even now all of these years later seem to be lacking quite alot.

If there's one aspect that really needed a bit more work put into it it's the relationship between Mera and Arthur. As the two don't really have any romantic chemistry together which is of no fault of the actors as you can't help who you have chemistry with but given that there characters do end up together alot more care and attention should have gone into casting two people who do have chemistry together or at least there should have been something written into the script to help to make it clear that there only just starting to fall in love with each other as it's something that doesn't work in the film and while it was nice to see them both fall for each other it's also not that believable as the two don't share any romantic chemistry with each other which is key to make to romance work and it's something that is very sorely lacking in this film.

Orm as a villain just wasn't all that interesting as he just came across as being a spoilt son and nothing all the more then that. Which is a shame as on paper his character could have worked as the very idea of having two brothers fighting for the throne and t become king is always a very good idea but that idea falls apart when one of the brothers is fun , charming and charismatic and the other one isn't with Orm in this case just being rather flat and boring and while yes he does have a clear end goal in mind which does help his cause as a villain the makers f this film still need to make him an interesting character they need to give him flaws and they need to give him a personality and most importantly they need to give us the audience a reason to hate this character outside of the fact that he's the villain and there for we should all automatically hate him and by making him a less interesting character you also make Arthur a less interesting hero as the villain should be just as interesting if not more so then the hero in order to make the hero more of a stronger character.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly two hours and twenty three minuets and nineteen seconds. Which was a tad bit on the long side as the film really doesn't have alot of story there to really cover that large amount of running time with this not really being helped by the fact that the film takes a while to really get going but when it does get going the film not only becomes more fun to watch but it also flies right on by which does create some issues with pacing as some scenes that needed to be longer are now suddenly shorter and yet scenes that need to be longer are now shorter which can make the film feel like a chore to sit through and yet even with long running time very little of it is really spent on actually developing it's characters which do make it's characters seem rather one dimensional but I will admit that the film really does have some fairly bad pacing at times tho.

So now then as this is an action film that means that I gave to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this film having some really fun action scenes in it but while the action in this film is rather and rather entertaining because the film doesn't really take the time to make you care for alot of it's characters it makes the action lack any tension as you just don't end up caring for the characters which is a shame because when the film does start an action scene you should care for the characters and want to see them get out of it alive but yet because the film doesn't really take the time to make you care for alot of it's characters that doesn't really end up happening this is despite all of the cool moments in this films many really cool looking actions scenes in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film and the first live action Wonder Woman film are easily some of the best theatrically released films in the DC Extended Universe but having one or two good films doesn't make the whole thing good in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked abut all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official DC Extended Universe fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this exact film being the official DC Extended Universe fandom wiki page since alot of the images that are from this film and that are currently still indeed up on the official DC Extended Universe fandom wiki page are all really fairly freaking high in quality and as well as them all being really very fairly freaking high in definition.
