Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom Film SPOILER FILLED Film Review

 

It's finally here the final film ever in the DC Extended Universe is now finally here and well let;s just say that this film really should have been a straight to steaming film. As not only did this film have a really very troubled production history but at the same time it's a film that's been getting alot of very negative reviews from both fans and critics and so then join me as I give you all my SPOILER FILLED review of the film that sees the DC Extended Universe come to a really very underwhelming end with the film in question being called simply just "Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom" enjoy.

The plot of this film is four years after the events of the first film Arthur Curry is needed once again as Black Manta is trying to find a mythical trident that will bring harm to both the sea world and the land world and it's up to Arthur and Orm to stop him before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty rather lackluster as this films plot just felt like your stereotypical superhero movie plot only with nothing new or interesting added to it with this films plot also being rather dull and not really that engaging either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry / Aquaman , Patrick Wilson as Orm Marius and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as David Kane / Black Manta. Also starring in this film is Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin , Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus , Martin Short as Kingfish , Vincent Regan as Atlan , Jani Zhao as Stingray , Indya Moore as Karshon , Pilou Asbæk as Kordax , Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really not that bad. As the cast in this film are quite clearly trying to put in a good performance but the issue is tho is that this films script just won't allow for it as this films script is just so badly written with the characters lacking any of the personality and charm that made them stand out in the first film with alot of the cast just looking lost ad confused about how to play certain scenes in this film and while the cast are trying to turn in a good performance they also need the script to be good in order to really help them to that as an actor is only as good as the script that they are given.

Doing the CGI for this film is Cinesite , Double Negative , Halon Entertainment , Industrial Light & Magic , Moving Picture Company and Scanline VFX. Now then interms of what  personally thought / felt about the actual CGI thats actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that thew actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with this films CGI looking alot better then alot of the CGI that we've recently been getting from alot of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films but at the same time tho the CGI in this film felt like a step backwards interms of quality when compared to the CGI of the first film with effects in the first looking like they belong in a movie where as n this movie alot of the affects look like that they belong a video game alot of the time.

There was one name that was left of the above cast list and that was Amber Heard as Mera that was because it wasn't really known how much of the film that she's be in. Well she is in quite alot of the film for both the first and third act this is something that might shock some people given what's gone down with her but her being in the film doesn't really effect the plot of the film at all infact her character could be removed from the final cut of this film and nothing of value would have been lost but at the same time given that the connection between Mera and Aquaman is key to both characters you can't really have her not being in the film at all and recasting the role while a smart move would also be a really jarring move to make as well and as such the makers of the film did the best thing that they could have done with her character it's just a shame that just like Megan Fox in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows Amber Heard in this movie just doesn't seem that interested and looks like that she'd rather be anywhere else but there making the movie.

It's no secret that this film had a very troubled production history with there being numerous re-shoots amongst many other things. While these production issues aren't really present in the final cut of the film you can tell that both Jason Momoa and Amber Heard have even less chemistry in this film then they did in the first film with them here having the chemistry of two people who have just met each other that day which really shouldn't be the case as Jason Momoa is a really very charismatic person and can have chemistry with anyone and yet really both he and Amber Heard just don't have it with each other this is of no fault of the actors as you can't help who have and you don't have chemistry with but given all of the things that Amber said about Jason these certainly really wouldn't have helped things if anything they would have really hurt the film even more then help it.

This film just straight up feel like Thor: The Dark World as the two films do share quite alot of things in common. Like the fact that the hero of the first has to team with the villain of the first film who is also his brother in order to save something from someone who is wielding a mythical object from a place that was once deemed as a legend with this getting so bad that at one point in the film Arthur just straight up calls Orm Loki if your going to copy any Marvel movie why would you pick what many think is one of the worst Marvel Cinematic Universe films out there as that just doesn't make sense and it makes the screenwriter of this film seem lazy with the villain of this film David Kane / Black Manta being just as badly written as Malekith was in Thor: The Dark World however what separates the two films is the fact that while Malekith only appeared in that one film and as such they only really had one chance to get him right David Kane / Black manta was also the villain of the previous Aquaman film and really was actually written better in that film then he was in this film.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and fifty two minuets and six seconds. Which was such a short amount of time for this film to have as this film really could have benefited from having a longer running time as that would have allowed the story more time and room to breathe and it would have allowed to things to happen at a much more natural pace but I will admit that this film does have more then enough there interms of plot to cover that large of running time which means that the makers of this film would have had no issues with adding in additional scenes not have it effect the overall plot of the film this would also have allowed the films more emotional moments to really hit home instead of the film really just glossing over them like there nothing but I will admit that this film really does some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this film is an action film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With the films action really suffering from the shorter running time as alot of the films action scenes just feel unnaturally rushed with them just starting a scene and then a few seconds later it just ends for no reason and while we do get some really cool moments in those action scenes those are very few and far between in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film is such a bad film the DC Extended Universe to end on as it just gets so much wrong but no matter what happens now at least we know that the DC Universe is going to be better then this film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in his review and as such that means tat this very film earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 5 out of 10 from me.
