Ghost Rider Film Review

Marvel movies as of late haven't really been that good with alot of their more recent films barring Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 3 being nothing more then OK at best. Well what alot of younger people might not know is that before the Marvel Cinematic Universe was a thing alot of the films that Marvel released was just OK at best with alot of them having one person in common and that person being Mark Steven Johnson and so then join me as I review the film that saw Nicholas Cage star in a comic book movie before Teen Titans Go To The Movies with the film in question being called simply just "Ghost Rider" enjoy.

The plot of the film is when the devils son tries to get a contract that will give him more power then his father it's up Johnny Blaze to stop him before it's far to late. Now then  interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really weak at best but I will admit this films plot is also rather entertaining and fairly engaging as well with the films plot also just straight up disappearing for large portions of it's running time and just coming and going as and when it really wants to in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Nicolas Cage as Johnny Blaze / Ghost Rider and Eva Mendes as Roxanne Simpson. Also starring in this film is Wes Bentley as Blackheart / Legion , Sam Elliott as Carter Slade , Donal Logue as Mack , Peter Fonda as Mephistopheles , Brett Cullen as Barton Blaze , David Roberts as Captain Jack Dolan , Laurence Breuls as Gressil , Daniel Frederiksen as Wallow and Mathew Wilkinson as Abigor.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting tat's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to  us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. As alot of the actors in this film really are trying to make this films script work but the issue is tho is  that this films script is just so bad that the cast can't make this script work for them and can';t make the material better then what it is with this not really being helped by the fact that this films writer and director Mark Steven Johnson really doesn't know how to direct his cast and how to get a good performance out of his cast which means that this films cast really can't turn in that good of a performance.

Doing the CGI for this film is Sony Pictures Imageworks , CafeFX , Digital Dream and Gentle Giant Studios. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured /presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with this films CGI being alot better then most other comic book movies that came out around this same time period but at the same time tho this is still mid 2000's CGI and it really does show with alot of the effects shots in this film having not really aged all that well at all with alot of them looking really dated which really is a shame as when we do get a really good looking CGI shot you really do know about it.

While this movie does have alot of faults the one fault that it doesn't have is the fact that it has a lot of really cool moments in it. Which is what you expect from a Ghost Rider movie and it's something that this film does in spades but the issue is tho is that you just don't care about those moments and heck alot of those were included in the films trailers which means that you knew that they were coming which is understandable as you need to put alot of the best moments in a trailer in order to sell people on going to see your movie but at the same time alot of those cool moments like Johnny riding up the side of building would have been much better of if it wasn't included in the trailer as it would have been a truly awesome thing to see if you didn't really know that it was coming.

This film suffers from alot of the issues that pretty much all of the Marvel films that had Mark Steven Johnston involved in some way. That being the fact that the characters aren't fully developed with alot of the films characters coming across very dimensional and boring which is a shame as on paper Johnny Blaze should work heck they even got the perfect actor to play him in this movie in Nicholas Cage and yet they made him a very one dimensional character with him not really given any hobbies with the same thing true for alot of the films characters as we're not really given a reason to care for alot of this films cast of characters and as such that means that when they do get into danger we the audience aren't given a reason to want to see them survive until then end of the film.

Aside from the weak romance subplot the other weaker aspect of this film is it's main villain Blackheart / Legion. Who on top of all of the problems that all of the other characters have just comes across as a whiny annoying teenager as he's not really given a reason for him being evil aside from the fact that he's thew son of the devil and that's really it with that also being his entire personality as he also lacks a personality which is a shame as on paper the son of the devil trying trying to get more power then the evil could have made for a rather interesting villain and yet the film does nothing with him to actually make him and because our villain is weak and rather uninteresting it also has the effect of making Ghost Rider himself rather uninteresting as a hero can only be as good as the villain which means that if you create a weak and boring villain then chances our it's also going to make your hero come across as being rather weak and uninteresting as well.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly two hours and three minuets and twenty five seconds. Which is so much longer then what this film really needs to be as this film really doesn't have alot of story to cover that large amount of running time which means that we get alot of pointless scenes with both Johnny and Roxanne that add nothing to the overall plot of the film with the same thing also being true for alot of the scenes between Johnny and Carter as well with both sets of sets of scenes coming across more as filler as they both of those characters have scenes in them that could have been removed and nothing about the actual plot of the film would have been affected in the slightest with this not really being helped b the fact that this film really does have some really bad pacing to it as well.

So now then as this is an action film that means that I have ti actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured /presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this films action being the most entertaining part of the film as where the film got to be the most creative and the must fun with the filmmakers really having alot of fun in showing us just how exactly Ghost Rider will use his powers in order to win in any given fight be it be brute strength or by using any of his powers and that really does make the action in this film all the more exciting as you never really now what it is that your going to get but you know that whatever it is is going to be really awesome. in my my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while this film is a really bad film it's also one that knows that it's comic book movie and isn't afraid to be nothing more then just a dumb comic book movie in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 5.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girl and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Ghost Rider Movies fandom wiki age and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being Google Images this is because really all of the images that I really got and that currently up / featured and on the great Google Images are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
