Fun And Fancy Free Film Review

Disney have released dozens upon dozens of animated films over the years with it being next to impossible for everybody to have seen every single one of them. With one such film being the exact film that i'm going to review for you all today as this is a film that until a few short years ago i'd never even heard about let alone seen and well I thought that now was the right time to finally check this film of my every growing and never ending list of films to watch and so then join me as I review the film that despite featuring one key Pinocchio character might also feature another one with the film in question being called simply just "Fun And Fancy Free" enjoy.

This film is an anthology film which means that it really ha no plot to speak of with the film being connected by scenes of Jiminy Cricket wondering around a house and going to a party. This is really the best way for this film to tell it's stories as it allows you to have all of the magic that you'd expect to see in a Disney film without having to worry about it not really working for the films story and this way it allows the film to have more cute moments that leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside and while yes I would have liked this film to feature a plot the fact that it doesn't have a plot makes it standout against all of the more traditional Disney films that came out around this exact same time in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Edgar Bergen as Himself Charlie McCarthy and Mortimer Snerd and Dinah Shore as A Singer The Narrator and Lulubelle. Also starring in this film is one of this films producers Walt Disney as Mickey Mouse , Cliff Edwards as Jiminy Cricket , Clarence Nash as Donald Duck , Pinto Colvig as Goofy , Billy Gilbert as Willie The Giant , Anita Gordon as The Golden Harp and The King's Men as The Bears and The Happy Valley Crows.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With alot of this films cast turning in some really good performances in this film with really the only, real let down being Walt Disney himself who just doesn't sound right as Mickey Mouse the same thing also being true for Cliff Edwards who despite turning in a rather solid just sounds a bit to old to be playing Jiminy Cricket which is a shame as he is a really good actor and was also really good in this film.

Doing the animation for this film is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Walt Disney Animation Studios. Now then interms of that I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this is very film well then in all honesty I in,all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with this film featuring some really good looking animation that alot of the time had me trying to work how they did certain shots as it just looked to hard to do in 2D hand drawn animation with this really being helped by the fact that the animation really does hold up all of these later.

The stories chosen for this film are an adaptation of the children's book Little Bear Bongo by Sinclair Lewis. With the other story being an adaptation of Jack And The Beanstalk out of the two stories it's the Jack and the Beanstalk story that is kept mostly the same with the Bongo actually being made alot different then it's original story as in the original story Bongo doesn't win the effect of his love interest infact she coldly dumps him after becoming the mother to Lumpjaw's cubs with Bongo then leaving the forest forever and finding solace in the circus where he does eventually find love and while this version of the story does go to some pretty dark places even hinting at the death of it's main villain I would have liked it if they went with the original stories ending just to teach kids that you won't always get what you want no matter how hard you really try.

This film does use some live action for it's second story which did really remind me alot of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Even down to some of the characters in the live action segments making fun of the animated segments but at the same time outside of giving us a framing device for that story the live action segments really added nothing to the film and could have been left out of the film as the one that they had for the first story of Jiminy Cricket just finding a record that just so happened to about Bongo worked well and could have easily been the framing device for the whole entire film as it is plausible that Jiminy could have found either another record or just a book that tells the Jack And The Beanstalk story.

Writing the songs for this film were Bennie Benjamin , George David Weiss , Ned Washington , Eliot Daniel , Bobby Worth , Buddy Kaye , Eliot Daniel , Bill Walsh , Ray Noble and Paul J. Smith. I will admit that I liked the sings in this film while the songs in this film aren't Disney at their best they are some really enjoyable songs with "I'm a Happy-Go-Lucky Fellow" being an unused song from the film Pinocchio and while I can see why the sings was cut from the film as it doesn't mesh with that films tone it is a song that meshes well enough with the tone of this film and it does help that alot of the films songs are really well sung I just wish that this film had songs that were memorable and not songs that alot of people are going to forget about.

Now then this film has / had an exact gran total running time of exactly one hour and twelve minuets and forty eight seconds. Which is a bit on the long side for this film especially as this film really doesn't have a story tom tell with each segment being around fifteen t twenty minuets un length which again is a bit on the long side as both segments are short on story which means that they really didn't need to be that long with alot of them especially the Bongo story having scenes tat don't factor into the main plot with them feeling alot more like filler scenes and while the Jack And The Beanstalk segment doesn't really have any filler scenes in it is still a story that could have done with loosing a few minuets here and there however I will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it.

So now then as this is a comedy that means that I ave to actually talk about the actually comedy thats actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with this film having some really cute and funny moments in it. Which really will get a laugh out of people out of me and it reminded me alot of how good Disney can be when they really put alot of effort into their films as the jokes in this film are timeless where the jokes in their more modern films are dated with this films jokes always going to get laughs out of alot of people in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall i;m so glad that I finally saw this film as it really forgotten Disney film that really doesn't get a lot of love from that many a people which is understandable but at the same time this still a rather solid film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've take about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that  personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Disney fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being the official Disney fandom wiki page this is because all of the images that I got and that currently up / featured and on the great the official Disney fandom wiki page are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
