Trolls Band Together Film SPOILER FILLED Film Review

 

Dreamworks Animation has been making alot of great films recently with the likes of Puss In Boots: The Last Wish becoming firm fan favorites. Well the studio has just released the recent film in one of their more underrated franchises and as i'm a bit of a fan of this franchise you all just knew that I had to check this film out the very first chance that I got and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED film review of the film that really wasn't marketed all that well with the film in question being called simply just "Trolls Band Together" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when Branch's long lost brother comes seeking his help he has to content with his past and go on the most dangerous mission yet with Poppy. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with the films plot being the kind of fluff that you'd come to expect from this film and to this films credit the films plot is just as simple and just as entertaining as you;d want it to be to be in a film like this one in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Anna Kendrick as Queen Poppy , Justin Timberlake as Branch and Camila Cabello as Viva. Also starring in this film is Eric André as John Dory , Kid Cudi as Clay , Troye Sivan as Floyd , Daveed Diggs as Spruce , Amy Schumer as Velvet , Andrew Rannells as Veneer , Zosia Mamet as Crimp , RuPaul as Miss Maxine , Icona Pop as Satin and Chenille , Anderson .Paak as Prince D , Ron Funches as Cooper , Kenan Thompson as Tiny Diamond , Kunal Nayyar as Guy Diamond , this films co-director Walt Dohrn as Cloud Guy , Zooey Deschanel as Bridget and Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Gristle Jr..

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With alot of this films cast turning in some really good performances which really does make alot sense as alot of this films cast members are reprising their roles from previous entries but what let's the acting down in this film is the fact that the films script just isn't that good which means that the films cast just can't turn in that good of a performance as the films script just doesn't give the actors both returning and new alot to work with interms of what their respective characters personalities even are in the first place,

Doing the animation for this film is Double Negative , Titmouse and the legends and the greats that are currently over at DreamWorks Animation. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all, honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with this film really being very nice to look at with all of the characters having some really nice and fluid movements to them but at the same time this feels like a step back interms of Dreamworks Animation have been doing in their more recent animated feature films.

One of the things that did bug me about this film is the fact that they do the whole forgotten brother or sister trope. Which to me just screams of lazy screenwriting as it really isn't something that was needed to be done twice in this film and by doing it they end up almost retconning the events of the opening of the first movie which just goes to show that the makers of this film just don't care about their own continuity due to the fact that this film is made for little kids and while the siblings that they do introduce in this film have the potential to be some really fun characters it's the fact that there characters who were never even hinted at in he first place just goes to show you that the makers of this film really just don't care about continuity or even good screenwriting for that matter.

On top of that with Viva being reveled as Poppy's long lost sister it now makes King Peppy seem like a bad father. As he not only let his daughter stay hidden from the rest of the world but he also never told Poppy about the fact that she has a sister which may or may not make Viva queen of the pop trolls all of which are things that make this character who was once seen as this kind and caring father seem like someone who just doesn't care about his kids which goes against everything that the previous two movies and the previous two TV shows  went out of their way to make sure that you knew that King Peppy really was a kind and caring father and not like the version of the character that we get in this film.

Branch does fair a little bit better in the long lost sibling department as the introduction of his brothers doesn't mess two much with what we already know about him. As you could very well argue that his brothers had long left him before his Grandma died at the start of the first film and I will admit that was nice seeing how he interacts with his brothers when they left him almost twenty years prior to them meeting up with him in this film and while his brothers do rightfully get alot of the attention in his film it was still nice tom see Branch be the main character of this film as he wasn't the main character in the second film with him being the main character in the first film along with Poppy who here felt more like a side character and less like a main character.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and twenty four minuets and thirty five seconds. Which really is the perfect running time for this film as while this film does have more then there interms of either plot or story this film really does feel lie an advertisement for the films soundtrack even more so then the previous two films as they stop the film have a musical number every couple of minuets which really does make the film feel like it's padding it's own running time when it really doesn't have to do that really at all has apart from the none stop musical numbers there are no scenes in this film that really feel like padding with alot of this films scenes playing apart in either advancing the plot of the film or in advancing the characters overall arc for this film and I will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it.

So now then as this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that thew actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not hat bad.,With Poppy really getting alot of the films jokes this time around with alot of her jokes being really funny just due to how sassy that they made her in this film and while Branch doesn't get alot of the films jokes in this film given that alot of the jokes that one his brothers gets is boy band puns i'm honestly glad because those boy band puns got tired really quickly and really didn't need to be in the film at all in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this was a rather weak entry in this franchise and given what else is currently playing in cinema's over here in the UK this film is going to struggle at the box office but it might fair better at the American box office tho in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6 out of 10 from me.
