Star Wars: The Clone Wars Film Review
We are now just a few short days away from the Ahsoka live action TV series as such I could only think of one thing that would be the absolutely perfect thing to do for a tie review. With the film that i'm about to talk about today being the first time that Ahsoka herself was introduced to the Star Wars universe and so then join me as I review the film that was the first Star Wars film to be animated and not be released by 20th Century Fox with the film in question being called simply just "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" enjoy.
The plot of this film is when Jabba The Hutts son is kidnapped it's up to Obi-Wan , Anakin and Anakin's new padawan to find the child and return him to his father before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty rather thin with the plot of this film being more suited to an episode of the show instead of a feature length film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Starring in this film is Matt Lanter as Anakin Skywalker , Ashley Eckstein as Ahsoka Tano and James Arnold Taylor as Obi-Wan Kenobi and 4A-7. Also starring in this film is Catherine Taber as Padmé Amidala , Tom Kane as Yoda , this films Narrator and Admiral Yularen , Dee Bradley Baker as The Clone Troopers , Captain Rex and Commander Cody , Samuel L. Jackson as Mace Windu , Anthony Daniels as C-3PO , Nika Futterman as Asajj Ventress and TC-70 , Ian Abercrombie as Chancellor Palpatine , Corey Burton as Ziro The Hutt , Whorm Loathsom and KRONOS-327 , David Acord as Rotta The Huttlet , Kevin Michael Richardson as Jabba The Hutt and Sir Christopher Lee as Count Dooku.
Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty alot better then what I remember it being. Which does make sense given the amount of very talented actors and actress starring in this film but at same time nobody was expecting this film to have good or even great acting in it but even tho this film does have some solid acting in it this films script doesn't give the cast a whole lot to work with interms of what their respective characters personalities even are and so they can't give that good of a performance as this films script just simply won't allow for it.
Doing the animation for this film is the legends and the greats that are currently over at CGCG and Lucasfilm Animation Singapore. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good while this films animation quite clearly isn't feature film worthy in the slightest it's also better then what it really had any right to really be or even should have been.
As I mentioned at the start of this review this is film marks the first appearance of Ahsoka Tano in the Star Wars canon. However what alot people either a) might not know about or b) just straight up forgot about is the fact that when this movie first came out this character was loathed by the overall majority of the fanbase and I can quite easily see why as she does come across as being quite annoying in this film with the character displaying next to no personality and that's of no fault with those involved with making the film instead it's the fault of George Lucas who pushed for this film to be made after he saw some early footage from the show and so of course she isn't going to come across as being a fully developed character as there were still a dozen or so episodes yet to be aired on TV but you only have one chance to make a good first impressions and well this film didn't give the character a chance to make a good first impression.
I just said that this film was made up of episodes of the show and it really does show as this film does feel like a compilation film. With the film having a very weak story that's just there to get us to the next action scene and with the characters going through mini character arcs which would well enough for an episode of the show but it's not something that works well for a theatrical film and that's the issue that you always have when your just stitching episodes of a TV show together and releasing them as a movie and all that does is make you wonder why this film was even made in the first place as it would have been served as just being episodes from the TV show and nothing more then that.
This film is a very child friendly version of Star Wars which does make sense as this film was made for little kids. However at the same time there should have been things put in there to make the adults going to watch this film happy to i'm not saying that you have people swearing or adult situations or anything like that but things like a more mature form of storytelling or more adult themes wouldn't have gone amiss and would have helped sell the show as well as make the movie have a timeless feel to it but I do understand why they made the movie as child friendly as they did as that does match the show alot more.
Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and thirty eight minuets and twenty six seconds. Which I will admit is a bit on the long side for this film just because the plot of the film is so thin that it doesn't really need to be that long and so all we are left with is a bunch of filler scenes that could have been cut from the final cut of the film and nothing of actual importance to the plot would have been lost at all but I will admit tho that this film does have some really good pacing to it tho.
So now then since this is an action film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. However there is one major issue that I have with this film action wise and that's the fact that there's two many action scenes more often then not with their being next to no break inbetween them and all that does is wear us the audience out as there's no time for us to catch our breathe and it makes all of the films action scenes blend into one as there's so many of them and not that many of them standout from one one another.
Overall I cannot wait for Tuesday to come around and this is a pretty decent film that gives us a rather solid introduction to I guess you could say an iconic Star Wars character in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 6.5 out of 10 from me.
Now then as for where I personally got all of the images tat I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Star Wars: The Clone Wars fandom wiki page , the official Star Wars fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this very / exact film being the official Star Wars: The Clone Wars fandom wiki page simply because most of the images that I found and that are currently up on the official Star Wars: The Clone Wars fandom wiki page are all shockingly high in freaking quality and as well as freaking being shockingly high in freaking definition.
