Elektra 2005 Film Review
As I liked reviewing the rather obscure comic book movie Hellboy the other day I thought that i'd try and find another obscure comic book movie. However this time instead of finding an actually good comic book movie I thought that i'd go in the opposite direction and find one that's pretty bad and so then join me as I review the film that really could see the end of what i'm now officially dubbing the Mark Steven Johnson Cinematic Universe with the film in question being called simply just "Elektra" enjoy.
The plot of this film is when she is fired to assassinate a father and his daughter Elektra chooses to protect them and instead finds herself in the cross hairs of a very powerful very lethal group of people who really want the daughter for an evil plan. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty pretty bad with this films plot being a very bad example of a comic book movie as the plot is laughable at it's worst and downright boring at it's absolutely worst in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Starring in this film is Jennifer Garner as Elektra Natchios , Terence Stamp as Stick and Goran Višnjić as Mark Miller. Also starring in this film is Kirsten Prout as Abby Miller , Will Yun Lee as Kirigi , Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as Roshi , Colin Cunningham as McCabe , Hiro Kanagawa as Meizumi , Natassia Malthe as Typhoid , Bob Sapp as Stone , Chris Ackerman as Tattoo and Edison T. Ribeiro as Kinkou.
Now then inters of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty OK. As this films cast are quite clearly trying to turn in a good performance but the issue is tho is that this films script gives the cast nothing to work with interms of what their respective characters personalities even are.
Doing the CGI for this film is Rhythm & Hues Studios , Rainmaker Digital Pictures , Pixel Magic , Modern VideoFilm , Pacific Title and Art Studio and Rainmaker Animation & Visual Effects. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really bad if Hellboy was a good example how well CGI effects in comic book movies can age well then this film is a really good example of how they can age badly because this films CGI looks really bad.
Both this film and Catwoman set comic book movies starring females as the lead characters back quite a bit. Granted we weren't getting as many as we're getting now but those two films all but made them box office poison and as such no Hollywood studio in their right mind would want to invest in one which is shame because when there done right we get something like Wonder Woman but when there done horribly wrong then we end up with these two films which are films that aren't even so bad that there good there just bad and in the case of this film boring films as well.
One of this films very few bright spots is the relationship between Elektra and Abby which I just thought was rather cute. With Elektra taking on a more surrogate mother role and Abby taking on a role of someone who can just be there for Elektra this is one of the things that I really liked about the film as it gave both characters a chance to get some form of closure and a chance to move on with their lives and it's their conversations that were the most interesting part of the film because of the fact that we got to see that relationship develop between the two characters.
That being said it makes no sense as to why Elektra would not kill these people after only knowing for a couple. As to all she knows they could be evil people who are just pretending to be kind people in order to escape the possibility of being killed which means that she should have killed of them when she first had the chance or the very least have questioned them before choosing to let them live just straight up not killing them just Elektra who is meant to be a great assassin seem like she's terrible at her job.
Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and forty minuets and thirty seconds. Which for this film both works for and against the film it works for the film as it means that we can get to all of the exciting stuff alot more quickly but it works against the film as it means that none of the characters Elektra included can be fully developed and that means that the films villains come across as being rather one dimensional and while this film really does have decent pacing in it's first thirty minuets for the rest of the film that film has just OK pacing at best.
So now then since this film is an action film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty OK at best. As there are some really cool looking visuals in this films action scenes but alot of this films action is just rather flat and really boring to see in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Overall I can quite easily see why this film has very largely been forgotten about but given that Jennifer Garner is due to reprising her role in Deadpool 3 it's great to see just how bad this character can be handled in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 4.5 out of 10 from me.
Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got ll of the images that I personally used in this very review from IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this very film being obviously Google Images since really alot of the images that are from this film and that are all currently still up and on Google Images are all really fairly freaking high in quality and as well as them all really being really fairly freaking high in definition.
