X2: X-Men United Film Review

The X-Men are perhaps one if not the most well known Marvel characters with their stories being so well known that even none comic book fans will know about them. As such when the first live action X-Men movie was a massive hit back in the year 2000 it only made that a sequel would be put into production and that's exactly what we got and and so then join me as I review the film that sees the X-Men team up with their biggest foe with the film in question being called simply just "X2: X-Men United" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when their home base is attacked the X-Men are forced to team up with Magneto to stop this new villain once and for all. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with this films plot being very in keeping with this version of the X-Men in that it's very dark , dramatic and serious all of which work really well enough in this films favor and this films tone as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least

Starring in this film is Sir Patrick Stewart as Professor Charles Xavier and Hugh Jackman as Logan / Wolverine. Also starring in this film is Sir Ian McKellen as Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto , Halle Berry as Ororo Munroe / Storm , Famke Janssen as Jean Grey , James Marsden as Scott Summers / Cyclops , Rebecca Romijn as Mystique , Brian Cox as Colonel William Stryker , Alan Cumming as Kurt Wagner / Nightcrawler , Daniel Cudmore as Peter Rasputin / Colossus , Bruce Davison as Senator Robert Kelly , Shawn Ashmore as Bobby Drake / Iceman , Aaron Stanford as John Allerdyce / Pyro , Kelly Hu as Yuriko Oyama / Deathstrike and Anna Paquin as Marie / Rogue.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With all of the films cast members turning in some really good performances which given who is starring in this film shouldn't be all that much of a surprise as this films cast is mostly made up of really good actors and actresses.

Doing the CGI for this film is Cinesite , Rhythm & Hues Studios , Kleiser-Walczak Digital Effects , Pacific Title , Hammerhead Productions , CIS Hollywood , Pixel Magic and Visual Concept Engineering. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with this films CGI holding up really well for the most part all these years later as there are some dodgy looking fire CGI effects which look really dated.

For those of you who don't know this film is loosely adapting the graphic novel X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills. Which was published in 1982 as apart of the of Marvel Graphic Novel range of graphic novels and from what I can gather this film does mostly tell an original story with it only adapting and changing certain things from the novel which I do like as the graphic novel would have been at the very least twenty years old by the time this film was being made and so adapting the graphic novels story might not have worked well for this film.

As with alot of Marvel films this films villain Colonel William Stryker just wasn't that interesting of a character. As his whole thing is that he hates mutants which just doesn't add up when you take into account that he only creates his own mutants but that his son is also a mutant and all of this just makes me wish that the film adapted Stryker's origin from the graphic novel where his son is dead prior to the events of the events of the novel this would now give the character a deep routed hatred of all mutant kind and it would also make an actually scary villain.

This film makes Wolverine it's main character which both does and doesn't work in it's favor it works in the sense that we now get more of his backstory. However it doesn't work because of the fact that it now takes screen time from less developed characters and when you take into account that Wolverine was also one of the lead characters in the first film as well it makes you wonder why the makers of this film chose to have be the main character again especially there are other mutants in this film that really could have used the screen time to be more fully developed characters.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly two hours and thirteen minuets and forty seven seconds. Which was a tad bit on the long side for this film to have as when you really boil down the plot of the film the film really doesn't have alot of story to cover that long of a running time and as such this film really should have been at the very least just under two hours long but at the same time if the film was to come in at just under two hours it would feel rushed and that would mess up the films really good pacing as well.

So now then this is an action film and as such that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this films action being genuinely really entertaining with this films best action scene in the whole entire movie being the attack on the mansion just because it's a unique setting that allows for some really cool visuals plus we get to see alot of the characters use their powers as well which just make the scene really all of the more cooler in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film was a great sequel and while it does have it's issues it is still a really entertaining film that was made by some someone who despite being a terrible person was still of the X-Men comic books and that does show in this film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7,5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Wikipedia , IMP Awards . Com , the official X-Men Movies fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being Google Images this is because all of the images that I got and that currently up , featured and on Google Images are all really fairly high in quality and as well as being fairly freaking high in definition.
