The Little Mermaid 1989 Film Review

Disney fans we are now just a few short days away from the latest in the long line of lice action remakes being released. With thus one being one that's been getting quite alot of controversy even as recent as the writing of this review and well you all just knew that I had to produce a tie in review and so then join me as I review the film that is well and truly timeless with the film in question being called simply just "The Little Mermaid" enjoy.

The plot of the film is when she falls in love with a human mermaid princess Ariel has just three days to win his heart or else she'll be the slave of an evil witch. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with this films plot more then holding up really well all these years later in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Jodi Benson as Ariel and Vanessa , Christopher Daniel Barnes as Prince Eric and Pat Carroll as Ursula. Also starring in this film is Kenneth Mars as King Triton , Samuel E. Wright as Sebastian , Jason Marin as Flounder , Frank Welker as Max , Buddy Hackett as Scuttle , Paddi Edwards as Flotsam and Jetsam , Ben Wright as Sir Grimsby , Edie McClurg as Carlotta , Will Ryan as Harold and René Auberjonois as Chef Louis.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With all of this films cast members turning in some really good performances which isn't all that surprising as this films cast members are some very good actors and actresses and some of them have become so well known from this film that it's hard to picture anybody else voicing these characters because that's how good this films cast is and how iconic they are in this film and how iconic they are as these characters.

Doing the animation for this film is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Walt Disney Animation Studios. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with the films animation being really beautiful and really stunning as well.

What I really loved about this film is the fact that they actually gave Ariel flaws that she has to overcome. For example we see how her being reckless and impulsive can and does get her intro trouble and we see how she has to overcome that in order to save the day and this is something that makes her a more relatable character and it's something that I hope to god is present in the remake because if not then the remake is going to be in even more trouble then it is now and plus we also get to see how her trusting nature can and does get her in trouble as well with Ariel openly willing to trust Ursula just because Ursula says that she's a good person.

This film is of course a musical with it's songs being written by the films producer the late Howard Ashman and the films composer Alan Menken. While this film does have alot of really good songs in it sch as "Part Of Your World" for example there are some songs that just aren't that good like for example "Daughters Of Triton" which don't get me wrong is a fun musical number but it's also a pointless song that adds nothing to the film as you can already get across that Ariel isn't there through lines of dialog.

I really did like the villain Ursula just because she was such a fun and creepy villain who just eats up the scenery whenever she shows up on screen. My only gripe is we don't really know why she's evil and as such she just comes across as being evil just for the sake of being evil and while the animated might or might not have delved into her reasons for being evil the fact is this film didn't do that and that's something that the film should have done as it would have made seem like a much bigger threat then what she already is.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and twenty two minuets and forty eight seconds. While this film does have a great running time given that it really doesn't have alot their interms of either plot or story I still would have liked it if this film was at the very ;east five or ten minuets loner just because then you could fully develop characters other then Ariel and I will admit that with this films current running time this film does have some good pacing to it and that could get messed up if the film was a little bit longer.

So now then since there is some comedy in this film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty good. With this film having some genuinely laugh out loud moments alt of which come after Ariel is turned into human with alot of those moments still being funny today in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film still holds up really and thanks to how well it's plot , themes , songs and romance are among many other things it is a timeless film that really didn't need to be remade at all in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that means that this very film earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Disney fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this very / particular / exact film being the official Disney fandom wiki page since alot of the images that are from this film and that are currently still indeed up on the official Disney fandom wiki page are all fairly freaking high in quality and as well as being fairly freaking high in definition.
