Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret Of The Ooze Film Review

 

These days it's almost guaranteed that a live action comic book movie will get a sequel but back in the nineties that wasn't such a guarantee. As such when the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie was a huge hit with both critics and fans a sequel was rushed intro production and well let's just say that alot of changes were made to this films tone to appease some people who most likely never even saw the first film in the first place and so then join me as I review the film that brought The Shredder back to live with the film in question being called simply just "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret Of The Ooze" enjoy.

The plot of the film is when The Shredder is revealed to be alive and out for revenge the turtles most find away to stop him once and or all. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad altho it really was a very huge step down interms of quality of the plot that we got in the first film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Brian Tochi as The Voice Of Leonardo and Robbie Rist as The Voice Of Michelangelo. Also starring in this film is Adam Carl as The Voice Of Donatello , Laurie Faso as The Voice Of Raphael , Kevin Clash as The Voice Of Splinter , David McCharen as The Voice Oroku Saki / The Shredder , Michael McConnohie as The Voice Of Tatsu , Paige Turco as April O'Neil , David Warner as Professor Jordan Perry , Ernie Reyes Jr. as Keno , François Chau as The Shredder , Kevin Nash as Super Shredder , Toshishiro Obata as Tatsu , Mark Doerr as Freddy and Frank Welker as The Voices Of Tokka and Rahzar

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. Altho this films script really does give this cast absolutely nothing to work with interms of what their respective characters personalities are and this also goes for the returning characters as well and as such this films cast aren't really allowed to turn in that great of a performance because of the fact that the films script just won't allow for it.

Thanks to parents groups this film is alot more like the cartoon then the first movie with this movie even going as far as to have the turtles not use their weapons at all. Which is weird because instead of having the turtles use hard to find weapons they instead use very easy to find objects which would be more dangerous to the kids that these parents are trying to protect and this also effects the turtles as characters as well as now all of the turtles are just reduced to being very note characters and nothing more then that. 

For some strange reason this film resurrected The Shredder which just makes no sense as he was quite clearly killed of at the end of the first film. What makes matters even worse is the fact that they don't even explain how he survived and heck there's barely even a scratch on him this just makes me think that the makers of this film just didn't care enough to put in small details like explaining how The Shredder survived which just insults the intelligence of the target audience which should never be the case as this film kids target audience are still quite smart and would quite easily pick up on things like questioning how The Shredder survived the events of the first film.

I will give this film this for all of it's many flaws it is still a very fun film to watch and it's a film that is also quite easily the better live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live actin film sequel. With that being said tho there is a huge dip interms of quality with this film both looking and feeling alot more like a live action adaptation of the cartoon series instead of being a version of the turtles that adapts pretty much everything from the turtles lore as was the case with the first film. 

If Raphael was the main character of the first film then it's quite easily Donatello who is the main character of this film. Which I really did think was an interesting idea since he's never been the main characters when it comes to these live action movies however the film doesn't do anything with this idea as we don't really get to explore who Donatello is as a character which is a shame as that would have shed some light on a character who in most cases when it comes to turtles adaptations never gets that much attention at all.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and twenty eight minuets and twelve seconds. Which is a put on the short side for this film mostly because even with this running time they never actually explain what the secret of the ooze actually was which i'm guessing was cut out to make the film shorter which is a shame because this film has more then enough story to cover at the very least one hour and forty minuets but either way this film does have some really good pacing to it.

So now then since this is an action film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this films action being the most entertaining part of this film as those were the most fun and creative scenes in this whole entire movie in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film is quite easily the best live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel as it's not only a good movie but it's also a rather fun movie that has alot effort put into it in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10 from me.
